My entire Night Lords army so far.

I started my army with the Night Lords Combat Patrol in 1st of June and here’s how the army has grown so far :) I have painted since June 38 miniatures! The CP gave me 17 minis, Jumpac Lord, Rhino, 5 Chosen and 10 Nemesis Claw. Then i got 20 MKVI HH marines and kitbashed them with 40k bits and then i repainted one of my retro SM Command Squad minis for a painting competition which i sadly could not attend do to scheduling conficts. Up next i have pile of cultists, Dark Commune & Accursed Cultists, Teminators and i’m also waiting for a box of Raptors to show up, but for now, i need a bit of break for painting do to small burnout & back pains 😅 What do you guys think?

Night Lords Rhino

Finally my Combat Patrol is finished! I love painting Rhinos. The can be as plain or detailed as you like and they still look cool :) As a fan of the band Lordi, it was obvious subject for a NL tank. Every party bus needs their sponsors after all. The Lordi freehand too 3-5h to do and was to most time consuming part of this project. The blue hull was pretty fast and easy to do.

Any advice what to get into my 3.5e CSM army?

So, i have the Night Lords Combat Patrol painted which includes Chaos lord on jump pack, 5 Choosen, 10 Nemesis claw operatives (count as legionaries/choosen?) and a Rhino. I also have 20 legionaries kitbashed from HH MKVI marines & bunch of heavy weapons/heavy melee weapons. This is about 1300p of CSM now and my hobby group plays 4th e core & 3-3.5e codex 1500-2000p games and also had 2v2 750p games which are quite popular in form of a game day events.

I have Dark Commune, Accursed Cultists and normal cultists waiting to be painted (got them from a Ashes of Faith KT box).

I have some experience playing with 3e orks, but not sure how grow my CSM/Lost and Damned(?) lists. What should be must haves and what would be fun to play with? I dont really care for lore accurate lists which in a sense cut me off from demonic(/fun?) units :D

Couple of wip legionaries and a finished Aspiring Champion

My Heresy MKVI & 40k Legionaries bits project is close to finnish. Two wip legionaries (missing washes and some details) and a finished champion. After these there is only one marine to paint and then the Rhino whoch should be a fun project.

Night Lords Captain

I repainted one of my oldest minis, Captain of 3e SM Command Squad. I have always really liked that kit and painted the captain as a Night Lord for painting competition of a FLGS. I didn’t really think any lore justifications why he was wearing loyalist gear, i just wanted paint something cool :)

If you want to see more, i posted more pics at my hobby account

Painting old SM Command Squad Captain as a Night Lord (wip)

Little project for painting competition of a FLGS. I’ve had this dude since -04, so it was nice to give him a new coat of paint. Hardest parts, the sword and cape are done, so now this should finish in a day or two.

My Night Lords blue armor & weathered bronze tutorial

I have gotten lots of praise & questions about my Legionaries armor recipe, so i maide this tutorial. The basic blue armor is actually pretty easy three step progress, so hopefully this helps :) If you guys have any questions or need for more tutorials, ask away!

I know this will come up: Because i used a kitbashed mini, it doesnt have the winged helmet, so i didn’t write about my red recipe which is just basecoat of Khorne red and highlight of Mephiston Red!

English isn’t my first language, so there might be typo or two.

More of my minis can be found in Instagram @ morkominis https://www.instagram.com/morkominis?igsh=MWUwZ3dhMXJsdXoxdQ%3D%3D&utm\_source=qr

Chaos Lord with Jump Pack

Painted in abouth 10h during two days. The amount of trim and other details was pretty intense but powered through it. I’m very happy how he turned out!

Kitbashed Legionaries with heavy weapons & Aspiring Champion

During june, i kitbashes and painted two units of Legionaries from Heresy MKVI tactical squad. The units were missing any kind of heavy weapons, so now they are getting some dakka as well. The lascanon is missing the wires which i’m adding later from guitar strings. Might aswell build a third unit, so i made Aspiring Champion too.

Bits: torsos/legs from MKVI,
heads from Legionaries/Battlefield Trophies and weapons from Chosen-/legionaries-/Havocs kit.

MKVI Legionaries for 40k

More kitbashed Csm Marines! This time armed with bolters. These were quite fast and simple to paint. The MKVI armor is a big canvas to do what ever you like 👍🏻Heresy torsos and mostly 40k heads/arms.

Kitbashed Legionaries

Heresy MKVI bodies & 40k bits work really well together! They are pretty easy to attach and make very unique looking minis. The Aspiring Champions winged helmet is mix of a firstborn Marine helmet and wings of AoS Grave Guard helmet wings. Two other damaged helmets are from 40k Battlefield Trophies box. Chosen

Whole unit painted in less than a week and the amount of details almost gave me a burnout 😅 Thankfully my next project, MKVI & 40k kitbashed Legionaries have less details and extra bits 😂

Kitbashing Heresy Marines to 40k

So, while back i asked about how easy is to kitbash HH and 40k kits together and yesterday started smash Heresy era MKVI Tactical Squad minis and 40k Legionaries bits together.

All the bodies are from Heresy, and most hands/weapons are from 40k. If nothing else, i try to mix the shoulder pads to give varried and scavenged look. Some of the heads are from 40k Battlefield trophies set and do need pinning (or little ball of greenstuff) to be attached to the torso amd look very cool 😄 I gave the first sergeant winged helmet which was made from old first borm helmet and wings of FB/AOS Grave Guard (now Barrow Guard) kit. The wings are bit wonky, but the concept is do-able.

Btw, whats a good loadout for standard 40k Legionary unit? I saw old post how you should have 5 man teams with melee and some heavy weapon. I dont care for meta, but i would like to have somewhat playeable units!

Nemesis Claw finished

First unit of the Combat Patrol finished. Nice and different from painting orks. The trim wasnt as bad as i thought. More pics at my Instagram morkominis.

Second set of Nemesis Claw

Finished the second set of Nemesis Claw minis. Only two minis to go!

First four of my Nemesis Claw

First four minis of my Nemesis Claw. I started from the most basic guys so that i could figure out the armor colors. Ended up looking pretty dope when painted with shit brush that give very un-even, scratched look.

Kitbashing Legionaries and MKVI Tactical Squad!?

Has anyone kitbashed Csm Legionaries and standard Heresy marines together? I could use some inspirational pics of your minis. I’m building a 40k army and thanks to a gift card i got from a event (Best painted army), i bought MKVI Tactical Squad. I could also use them as Heresy army, but that just a fancy idea atm. I got the CP NL on the painting table and build the Nemesis Claw from it so i have bunch of Legionaries/Choosen CSM bits unnused. I also have Aos/40k skulls boxes but i do need to get bigger csm bits box. Last pic: wip marine.

”Retro is Cool!” event in Rovaniemi, Finland

On Sat 6.6 we had a 4e core & 3-3.5e codex 2v2 (750p per army) 40k event. 12 players. We played 3 games and voted for the Coolest Army, which i won with my Orks :)

Thanks to this event, i finally but my list together and started playing my first games of 40k. I started in the hobby as painter and only played AoS Warcry, so it felt great finally play actual 40k too.

Scenarios: Recon (Alpha), Cleanse (Gamma), Take and Hold (Gamma).

My HQ was Warboss (Power klaw & Kombi shoota&skorcha) with 5 Nobz & Wartrukk (2 power klaws, 3 slugga & choppa), 19 Boyz (burna, rokkit launcha) as troops and Looted Leman Russ as Heavy support. Not very good list, because the tank cost alot, but i really wanted to field it, which was kitbashed by my cousin when she was a teenager.

The idea was that the tank shoots from the backline, boyz absorb most enemies fire and warboss drives hes trukk into the frontlines to be a problem.

In pratice: I went 1-2. Most games my tank did hit but the damage wasnt there (until the last game, where it one shotted a holofielded Eldar Falcon on turn one), boyz were shot to hell and Warboss’s trukk was blown up every game xD That was alright, it was a very fun day and i saw some awesome armies.
