Confusion on how it works

Hi everyone,

I'm 15 years old and my goal is to become an airline pilot through a cadet program after finishing school. I'm trying to understand how competitive these programs really are, especially for airlines like IndiGo, Air India, Air Arabia, Akasa Air, and similar airlines.

I had a few questions for anyone who has been through the selection process or knows someone who has:

  • How difficult is it to get selected? Roughly what percentage of applicants make it through?
  • What are the different selection stages (aptitude tests, psychometric tests, interviews, group discussions, simulator assessments, medicals, etc.)?
  • What kind of questions or tasks are asked at each stage? Could you share some examples?
  • Which stage do most candidates get rejected at, and why?
  • How should someone prepare while still in school to maximize their chances?
  • After successfully completing the cadet program, is employment with the airline generally guaranteed, or is there another selection process before becoming a First Officer?
  • Are there any hidden challenges or things you wish you had known before applying?

I'm looking for honest experiences, whether you were selected or not. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

so again im a newbie into this and me searching this stuff online and seeeing other post is getting me more confused

also what other cadetptograms that ou all know that i as an indian nationality can join or other than cadet Private schools that help me to get also ATPL

AIR INDIA FLEET UPDATE

THE GOOD ONES:

  • OK, so their 6 x A350-900 are great and has one of the best business class seats(currently undergoing checks)
  • 3x b787-9 which is also really good and considered one of the best seats a 787 business class can offer (VT-AWA)and (VT-AWB)(VT-AWC)
  • 2x retofitted 787-8, (VT-ANT)(VT-ANP)(VT-NAC soon to join and currently undergoing pant job)
  • 6 x ex-vistara 787-9 which also have a solid cabin and are great and competetive(All have recently completed checks and maintanence in singapore)
  • their only good b777-300er that air india originally owned VT-ALX
  • their ex-etihad b777-300er which have etihads older business class seat and is outdated but still a solid cabin prodduct
  • their 10 x ex-vistara a321neo/lr which have lie flat business class seats are kept in great condition
  • finally their 90+ a320neo which all have refurbished cabins and are also a great solid product for shorter flights(so far 6 ex-vistara a320neo have been refreshed and painted in air india’s new colors)

THE BAD:

  • air india's originally owned 21x b787-8 which have a very old 2-2-2 business class seats and old economy broken down seats with almost no funtional IFE (from which 3 retrofitting )
  • their b777-300er(other than VT-ALX and ex-etihad) are again old broken down and expect nothing from those seats and even though refreshed with new covers, the seats are still broken
  • their a321 and a320 which still have their older business class seats but will be refurbished soon
  • lastly, their a319 which have stopped flying but not retired and kept as standby

Future orders and aircrafts coming up this year(updates):

  • VT-ANC, their second refurbished 787-8 will soon join the fleet by end of July
  • VT-AWD, their fourth 787-9 coming most probably by end of july
  • 4x Air India’s A350-1000, out of which one is currently in storage and no clue what time of this year it will join AI as there are no business class seats on them.(third(MSN831) and fourth A35K will soon also start production as they got all parts ready
  • VT-ANQ(Fifth one) 787-8 sent recently for refurbishment(hopefully by end of the year AI will have 8 retrofitted 787-8)
  • Also VT-ANU b787-8 has been grounded in amsterdan for nerly 2 weeks now

New Route changes for july:

  • Air India AI131 officially started using the new 787-9 on BOM-LHR route
  • also delhi to melboure will now be used by ex-etihad b777
  • All A319 have stopped service but not retired and will be used as standby or when demand rises
  • Air India planning 4x Delhi—Munich most probs from october
  • Air india’s CEO also said planning on resuming most of the fligths they had to cancel cause of the war as tension lowers and oil prices get stable

Majority of the complains we get about air india's aircraft and seats are mostly from the BAD aircrafts they own.(but will get refurbished soon)
Do share some thoughts about this and ur experience with them.

Random guy tried getting into my apartment at around 1pm

Had a pretty weird experience

Around 1pm, a random Afghan/paksitan looking guy rang my doorbell. When I checked through the peephole, he looked angry and kept saying, "Bhaiya, let me in." I told him no multiple times, but he just wouldn't leave.

I locked the door and stayed inside, but he continued standing there for around 15 minutes. He kept banging on the door, trying the handle, and even attempted to force it open with his hands.

Eventually he left, but the whole thing was pretty creepy. I have no idea who he was or what he wanted

Damn he looked drunk to me

Has anyone else experienced something like this? What would you have done in that situation?

happened in abu dhabi in shabiya 10

edit: NOT LOOKING FOR MUCH OF AN ADVICE,JUST SHARING MY EXPERIENCE HERE AND WANT TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED SOMETHING SIMILAR

Indigo getting lie flat business class and IFE on their A350-900

"The Airbus A350-900 is typically configured by airlines with 300-350 seats in a standard three-class layout, although the aircraft can accommodate substantially more passengers in high-density configurations. That makes IndiGo's planned 330+ seat configuration particularly interesting.

There are two clues already out there, then. First, there will be a premium cabin, and second, there will be an economy cabin. I fully expect a new custom take on an existing product to make the front cabin work. It most likely won't be called "Business Class", but something else, and will ideally come with the ability to go fully flat, perhaps since one won't want to pay premium prices and yet be in a zone where they cannot go horizontal while sleeping. And Angular Flat is so last generation that I don't think anyone is developing it anymore.

What I'm thinking is that there will be a 30-40-seat business-class cabin with a 44" Seat Pitch and a 290-300-seat economy-class cabin with a 31" -32 " seat pitch. There could also be two versions, with one having fewer business-class seats to accommodate more business-class seats. And because there is absolutely no way to offer long-haul entertainment with Bring Your Own Device, IndiGo will finally get in-seat back entertainment as well.

Many expected the airline to push the aircraft towards the higher end of the seating spectrum in keeping with its low-cost roots. Instead, the disclosed seat count suggests IndiGo is reserving a meaningful amount of cabin space for premium products and passenger comfort."

-LIVEFROMALOOUNGE

What do you guys thik about this developement, according to their presentation on slide number 26 its mentioned under developement seat so maybe not an off the shelf kinda seat and something new. Initial A350 arriving 2027 onwards
