PSA: This beast of a book is now at HomeGoods clearance for $50

My wife found this yesterday at Home Goods and made the call and I'm grateful to her. There is an updated version coming soon, but I don't think its quite so large and with this fantastic slip cover. I put off buying this for two years because of the $175 price tag but for $50 it's a steal.

I blew my Criterion sale budget on Prime Day, but I can live with this line up for under $50

Three favorites that I've been holding off on buying but this was the right price. I've got mid-summer viewing lined up.

The Da Vinci Tribute is my favorite GWP yet (and with some adjustments makes for a fine Star Trek Voyager set)

Captain Janeway and crew just checking in on her favorite Holodeck program. (Voyager crew torso stickers purchased from Lilium Brick Yards on Rebrickable).

I found a use for the lame Tahu CMF.

His new life will be as Colossus the 2nd tier X-Man. Any ideas for the other four Tahus I found at WalMart would be appreciated.

A few small changes and the new Lego Hoonicorn set makes a pretty great V8 Interceptor

I picked up Lego set 77262 with the intention of turning it into a V8 Interceptor, and I was not disappointed. Maybe 10-15 extra pieces were needed. The minifigure included made for a decent Max with some black decals applied over the numbers and new head & hair (and the shoulder pad). I added the existing minifigure head and helmet to a random police minifigure because I thought it made for a good generic wasteland villain. I know Dog isn't quite right. But I couldn't not include him.

John Lego refuses to license a set featuring greatest eight times married talk show host ever... so it falls to me.

Tonight... for the whole hour... our guest: Former President Richard Milhous Nixon. The topic: Watergate and how it relates to the BAM scandal. I also plan to find out the president's real thoughts on the delightful new Dolly Parton film Straight Talk, in my opinion... her best since Rhinestone.

This was a surprise:

I had no idea this was a thing. Seeing your favorite superhero in vending machine is cool. (New 52 yellow piping and chinstrap aside...)

I Fixed Your New Spider-Man Set For You, John Lego:

No need to pay me. We are all called to serve in our own way. Sorry for the movie spoilers, everyone.

I Fixed The New Spider-Man Movie Lego Set:

It was a fine set. It's just better now.

Titans Tower!

I started work on this a couple of years ago but set it aside for a bit. There have been some really nice versions of it made over the years but they were either larger or smaller than what I had in mind. This took some trial and error and a lot of Pick-A-Brick visits, but Im satisfied with it.

Happy Miracle Monday!

This is a small set I made in homage to Elliot S. Maggin's awesome 1981 Superman novel Miracle Monday. This is depicting the climax, in which Superman defeats C.W. Saturn, a demon from hell, and saves the soul of an innocent young woman. If you love Superman and have yet to read it, please check it out. Its really terrific, as is Maggin's first Superman novel, Last Son of Krypton.

Chaos at S.T.A.R. Labs! Featuring the JLA and (some of) The Doom Partrol

I started this MOC a while ago but only finished the tiles this week. (The big yellow robot is from set 76830). I'm happy with it as an addition to my DCU table, but one of my kids mentioned it looks like a giant yellow boot, so I can't unsee that 😬

Gotham PD Rooftop MOC

I wanted to put together a small Gotham PD rooftop MOC, similar in style to the old SDCC 77903 set. I used (as usual) 80% bricks from the Pick a brick. Robin and Catwoman are tweaked using various parts and pieces (and Catwoman's mask piece is painted black).

Just a quick build I wanted to get out of my system based on one of my favorite old Spider-Man comics ever. It's my first real attempt at a totally buildable figure, and I know the head needs work but I'm mostly pleased with it. I used a lot of extras I've been collecting from the Lego Store Pick-a-Brick and some parts from the Spider-Man museum polybag set (30707).

I (mostly) finished this set almost three years ago but never posted it, and I recently fixed it up a bit. I was going for a mix of the Silver Age/Donner Era. My apex as a Superman fan was meeting Mark Waid at a signing and showing him pictures of it. He seemed to like it (he was probably being polite but I was still happy).

Small Punisher safe house set, using mostly bricks I found at the Lego store pick a brick over the last year. The copter is a rebuild of #60411, the van is a rebuild of #60404. Enjoy!
