New mom looking for 4am soothing strategies !

Hello experienced parents! My baby is 8 weeks old and sleeps pretty well until her overnight feed. This usually happens around 2am. She breastfeeds, then falls asleep while I burp her on my chest. As soon as we transfer she wakes up.

I have tried waiting 10 minutes on my chest before transferring. Even 20! She always wakes up.

When she wakes she is now awake unless we let her contact sleep until her next feed (5-6am).

Any advice to get through this 4am business?

Family dropping in to visit baby on their timeline…

I have a 3 month and we’re getting them on a schedule now. My in-laws wanted to come visit. Not their first visit, but the first time they initiated wanting to see our baby - So yay. However.. they changed the date multiple times and changed the arrival time giving us 10 minutes notice. We are so lucky baby was in wake window.

In the future, I predict this will happen again. Is it reasonable to say baby is napping and leave baby in the crib?

Who has tried this? Or do you wake the baby and entertain this?

I also feel more upset too because they visit happened between their own errands. I wish they’d prioritize the baby instead…

How many weeks post partum did you feel you could schedule a walk or coffee with a friend and be able to make the time work?

Curious others experiences. I’ve been asked if I want to go walking since week 2 postpartum from my mom friends . Love my friends, but am I failing at this? Should I be able to have packed my baby up and gone walking?

Wondering other postpartum experiences.

Do momcozy breast pumps actually work?

I currently have the maxi swing medula pump with the portable cups. THEY DO NOT STAY ON. I’m now wearing them inside a sports bra that is way too small and uncomfortable for me.I hate every moment of it.

Do the Momcozy portable cups actually stay on? Or is it the same dance having to wear an extremely tight sports bra?

Thanks

Baby wearing recommendations

Hello!

I have a 7 percentile baby. Very small and petite. Currently almost 2 months bad 8 lbs. we finally met the lb criteria for the baby bjorn carrier. I don’t think her legs make the proper M shape and they dangle. She also screams bloody murder when she is in it.

What is the best carrier for this type of baby? I need a carrier for when she’s 2-3 months old for a few outings.

Thank you a million for sharing advice ♥️

How much sleep are you getting?

New mom to new mom. Can I ask, what does sleep look like for you? Everyone asks us how it is going… it is going imo very well…

Maybe we have an exceptionally good baby. Baby goes to bed around 10:30, sleep until 2 am, feed and settle (1 hour), then sleep until 5 ish, feed again. Sometimes settling takes longer after the 5am feed, then we sleep again until 7:30 to feed and start the day..

My husband does the 10pm feed, and I go to bed at 9pm for that extra hour sleep. I do the entire night shift feeds.

On average I get 7 hours broken sleep a night.

My baby is 5 weeks. We’ve been doing this for 2 weeks now..

How do you navigate low-engagement grandparents?

I’m curious how others handle grandparents who seem to want the “title” more than the involvement.
In my situation, we have a baby who is still very young. One side of the family is very engaged—asking to visit, checking in, wanting to understand routines. The other side feels more passive. Historically, we are the ones initiating contact or visits. One Thanksgiving they didn’t even ask our plans and when we reached out it was bc they didn’t plan to do anything….

There have also been a few comments that left me a bit confused. For example, when we’ve tried to announce the birth of our baby to extended family, they got upset and that’s what they wanted to do…

It’s made me think ahead a bit. I don’t expect or need regular help or babysitting from anyone. But I also don’t feel comfortable with the idea of allowing someone privileged access or birth announce moments when they make little to no effort pre baby or after. Additionally they’ve mentioned baby sitting in the future.. I’m uncomfortable with unsupervised care from someone who hasn’t really spent much time with the baby or shown much interest in learning her cues or routine.

We thought things would be different when we had a baby but it’s been almost 2 months of no change in behavior since birth.

Distance wise, they live local.

How do others navigate this kind of imbalance—where interest, (assumed) access and effort from different grandparents varies a lot?

IVF mama to IVF mama, do you find the constant advice from others annoying?

Hi everyone,

This might be an unpopular take, and I’m not trying to criticize anyone — I’m genuinely curious if others experience this.

I’m an IVF mom. Our journey included miscarriages, 3 egg retrievals, 4 transfers, and now we finally have our baby. We were not listened with our first IVF doctor, gaslit and did a lot of our own research. I trust myself and my intuition. I also have a health care background.

We are absolutely over the moon our baby is here! I genuinely feel so grateful for even the hard parts of newborn life — like being able to say “we didn’t sleep last night” and feeling happy about it.
But I’ve noticed something that’s been bothering me socially since becoming a mom.

When I talk to some of my non-IVF mom friends, I feel like I can’t just share an observation without it turning into advice or reassurance I didn’t ask for.

For example:
I said breastfeeding seems to be going well because my baby is burping after feeds, and I immediately got a reminder about the importance of burping babies. I wasn’t asking — I was just sharing how things are going.
I mentioned how intense the Instagram algorithm becomes after having a baby and how it can feel a bit overstimulating, and it turned into reassurance about postpartum anxiety and “you’re doing everything right.” And it just seemed like the convo flipped like they thought I was having anxiety….

What I actually notice in myself is that I’m not feeling anxious in those moments. If anything, I feel pretty grounded. The hardest part for me was getting here — not the day-to-day newborn experience.

I’m starting to wonder if people hear “IVF mom” or “new mom” and assume I’m fragile, overwhelmed, or looking for reassurance when I’m not. We also have an extremely good baby so far.. so maybe I’m the one who can’t relate?

Has anyone else experienced this shift after having a baby — where normal conversation gets turned into advice-giving or emotional check-ins instead of just… listening?

Would love to hear if this is common or if I’m just noticing a change in how people interact post-baby.

Curious what other peoples parents and in-laws gave as presents to welcome their IVF baby. I am wondering if I need a reality check. We received a very very small amount of money from a family member who I thought would maybe contribute more. I feel greedy even posting this. But we gave this family member more than triple the amount for their birthday last year..
