Small indentation/defect or damage on F-150 Lightning mirror?
I got my F-150 Lightning about a week ago and just took it on a trip to New York. I parallel parked it on the street while I was there, and I’ve now noticed a small smudge/indentation in the plastic trim on the inside/front edge of the side mirror.
There’s no other damage at all. No scratches, cracks, scuffs, or signs that the mirror was actually hit. The mirror itself works perfectly. I honestly can’t tell if this was there when I picked up the truck and I just didn’t notice it, or if something somehow happened while it was parked.
The weird part is that it almost looks more like a defect in the plastic/finish than impact damage. It’s basically a small indentation where the texture/finish looks slightly distorted.
Has anyone had something similar on their Lightning? Is that plastic trim/bezel available separately, or would Ford make you replace a larger portion of the mirror assembly? Any idea what something this minor would cost to repair or replace?
MacBook M5 Pro Space Black owners: Still Happy With Your Choice?
For those of you with the M5 Pro MacBook Pro in Space Black, are you happy with your choice, or do you ever wish you’d gone with Silver?
I just ordered the Space Black version, but I’ve seen the usual comments about fingerprints and long-term wear. I know a lot of that can get exaggerated online, so I’m curious to hear from people who’ve actually lived with one.
If you’ve used yours for a while, would you buy Space Black again, or would you switch to Silver if you had the choice? I’d especially appreciate hearing from people who were deciding between the two.
Getting an M5 Pro this week. AppleCare+ worth it?
I know this is kind of a dumb question since insurance is one of those things that’s great when you actually need it, but I’m curious.
How many of you have AppleCare+ on your MacBook? Do you usually buy it, or do you skip it?
MacBook has been repaired for the same issue 3 times and still has the issue. What should I do?
I could use some advice from anyone who’s been through something similar.
I have a 2021 MacBook that’s still covered by AppleCare+, but my coverage expires in mid-August. Unfortunately, it just came back from Apple for the third repair for the exact same issue, and the problem is still there. This time it also came back with a couple little nick marks on the side of the laptop.
Each time it’s gone in, Apple has replaced the logic board and the Touch ID assembly, but despite all three repairs, the original issue has never actually been fixed. At this point, it’s incredibly frustrating. I’ve spent a significant amount of time without my laptop while it’s been in for service, only to get it back with the same problem.
I’m trying to figure out what the best next step is. Should I be asking Apple for a replacement? Is there any chance they would offer an upgrade if they can’t permanently fix it? Or should I just continue with another repair attempt?
Has anyone here had a Mac repaired multiple times for the same issue under AppleCare+? If so, what ended up happening? Did Apple eventually replace the computer, or did they continue repairing it?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice on how to approach this with Apple, especially since my AppleCare+ coverage is ending soon. Thanks in advance.
Cousins Entered My Grandmother’s House Without Permission After Her Death and Took Property Before Probate, What Should I Do?
My grandmother recently passed away, and I have been living in her house with her permission for some time, paying the utilities, although I never had a formal lease. The estate has not yet been settled and no property has been distributed.
While I was away, several cousins used a key to enter the house without my permission. I have surveillance video showing them entering, and they are heard acknowledging that they were not allowed to be there. They then removed numerous items, including family photographs, statues, records, Holocaust memorabilia, and some of my own personal belongings.
From both a legal and probate perspective, what should I be doing right now? Should I file a police report, notify the estate attorney first, or both? Does taking estate property before probate is complete create legal consequences for the people who removed it? Also, does the fact that they took some of my personal property change the analysis?
I have preserved the surveillance footage and am compiling a list of the missing items. In Michigan.

DIY EV charger install with permit – how realistic is this for a capable but not-an-electrician homeowner? (100A panel)
Looking for a reality check before I pull the trigger on this.
My panel situation:
Siemens 100A, several open spaces, no gymnastics required. I have room for a standard 2-pole 30A breaker. My 240V loads are light – range and AC, that’s basically it. Dryer, water heater, and furnace are all gas, so my load calc should come in comfortably. No subpanel needed, no tandem breaker nonsense.
The run: Out through the basement wall, exterior PVC conduit along the house, roughly 25 feet along the garage wall, charger mounted near the parking spot.
What I’m planning to install
• Siemens 30A double-pole breaker
• 10 AWG copper THHN/THWN (Michigan winters, so wet-rated matters)
• 3/4” Schedule 40 PVC conduit
• Hardwired EVSE (not a 14-50 receptacle)
Going hardwired because it’s cleaner, cheaper, skips the bulky outlet, and is generally the better approach for a permanent outdoor/garage install. Fewer failure points.
Charger shortlist:
Looking at Emporia, Grizzl-E, and Wallbox. Running at 24A. Would anyone recommend one over the others at this amperage? Also curious whether a built-in load balancer is worth it here given my relatively light panel load, or if it’s overkill.
Cost estimate I’m working with
• Breaker: $20-50
• Wire: $80-180 depending on exact run length
• PVC conduit and fittings: $50-120
• Charger: $300-500
• Misc (boxes, connectors, weatherproof sealant): $50-100
• Permit: probably under $200
Total DIY: somewhere in the $600-1,000 range vs. $2,500-3,000 for a contractor. That delta is the whole reason I’m doing this myself.
Actual questions:
1. How realistic is pulling my own permit and passing inspection for this scope of work? I’m handy, comfortable with conduit work, understand basic electrical, but I’m not a licensed electrician.
2. Any permit-specific gotchas for exterior PVC conduit installs beyond wet-rated wire and proper support spacing?
3. Charger recommendation at 24A hardwired – Emporia, Grizzl-E, or Wallbox? Any strong opinions?
4. Load balancer: worth it on a relatively lightly loaded 100A panel, or unnecessary complexity?
Appreciate any experience from people who’ve actually done this.
Considering buying an EV (got quoted $3,000 for install for upgraded panel from 100 amp). Alternative install solutions?
Hey all, looking for some advice before I jump into buying an EV. I currently have a 100A panel and live alone, so my electrical usage is usually pretty low, especially at night. I’d almost certainly be charging overnight and probably parking/charging in the driveway rather than inside the garage.
My main panel is in the basement directly below an adjacent garage wall, so the run would basically just go up and over into the garage or possibly outside. The garage itself is about 20 feet deep if that matters for charger placement.
I’m not necessarily looking for ultra-fast charging, just something practical for overnight charging. Maybe a lower amperage Level 2 setup if that avoids a massive upgrade.
For those with 100A service:
- Did you need a full panel/service upgrade?
- Were you able to do load management or a smaller charger instead?
- Roughly what did your install end up costing?
Trying to figure out what’s realistic before I finalize the EV purchase.

F-150 Lightning Lease vs Buying a 2023 Edge, What Would You Do?
I know this is a super generic question and there’s a million variables, but curious what people here would do:
Option 1: Ford F-150 Lightning lease, 2 years, $345/month, $0 down
Option 2: Buy a 2023 Ford Edge for $23k at 5.3% APR
A few things making me hesitate: I’d need to install a charger at home for the Lightning, I have no clue if gas prices are going to stay this high long term, and I’ve also never owned a truck before but found it easy to drive.
What would you pick and why?
