Why tf isn't the website working

Hey everyone / seniors at IIIT Pune,

I’ve been researching IIIT Pune recently, but there seems to be a huge disconnect between what’s officially reported and what students on ground/forums are saying. I’m making this post to get an honest, unfiltered reality check from seniors and current batchmates.

A few major concerns I wanted to bring up:

1. 50% Actual Placement Rate vs ~75% Official Claim: Word on the street (and recent batch reports floating around) suggests that the actual placed percentage for some branches is sitting around ~50%, whereas the official website/brochures display figures around 71–75%+. Are these inflated numbers counting or unapproved pre-placement offers? What’s the exact breakdown?
2. Low PPO Conversion Rates – Student issue or T&P/Market failure? A lot of students reportedly secured 6-month or summer internships, but a significant portion didn’t get converted into full-time PPOs. Is this purely due to the tech market slowdown, or is there a lack of support/alignment from the Placement Cell? Is the student body being blamed for non-conversions?
3. Off-Campus vs. On-Campus Opportunities: Are students mostly grinding on their own to bag off-campus roles because on-campus company visits have dropped? If off-campus numbers are being included to bulk up the official placement metrics, how much active effort is the T&P cell actually putting in for on-campus drives?

Would really appreciate it if current 3rd/4th years or recent alumni could shed some light on the ground reality. Is it just typical market doom-and-gloom, or are these genuine structural issues at IIIT Pune?

I just have this one confusion, I will be joining uni in the next few months and abv i am looking for a laptop. I seem to notice that many of my friends and many ppl online seem to be buying gaming laptops, I don't want to consider the pricing of laptops that's just not a criteria for me. But looking at the needs in a college don't y'all think gaming laptops are a bit of an overkill or useless, considering the fact that mainly in colleges you gotta have a good battery backup and a silent machine? Like aren't iGPUs enuf? Could anyone like explain me why many students are choosing gaming laptops over slims? Like is it for gaming? (cuz that is unnecessary assuming you can play a lot of games with a good iGPU) or is it for ML stuff, local AI agents?

how is PEC better if their placements are poor compared to these IIITs, like their median for cse is hovering around 12 or 13, while IIIT pune and sricity have 14 to 15lpa. And on the other hand you don't even get a tag, i know iiit tag isn't valued much but still. Even tho some of the arguments are that PEC is really well known in north india, but the targetted job market is not in North india, cuz most of the cse placements are in blr or hyd rt? could anyone plss provide like a good argument why ppl are choosing this college?

Hey seniors, i just completed class 12th and got 98.5%ile in mains, i was thinking of joining Gandhinagar, but i saw many ppl saying it's bad like im confused becuz of mixed reviews, the ones we are getting from youtube and from reddit.

Hi, I was just wondering why BIT mesra is preferred over IIIT Pune, like most of the things favors Pune. The placement is about same maybe a difference of 1LPA in the average. Perhaps mesra has no city lyf as far as pune. Ans also I heard it's a bit unsafe in mesra?

I have seen the new batch struggling to properly get a college hierarchy to decide from, I would urge everyone form the community to take part in the census and help fellow ppl
