Pancake

Doesn’t look like SIGMA are coming good on giving us any kind of contemporary line pancake for the BF, this company really misses the ball sometimes it feels. I know there’s the LUMIX 40mm f2, but they’re plastic fantastic. SIGMA need to pull their finger out imo. The BF would be amazing with something pocketable.

Anyone know anything?

They killed off a GOAT

I cannot believe how good the M is. 2012 and its build quality, image quality, general functionality is way ahead of its time. I’ve been a photographer for 20yrs, I just wish I knew about this earlier.

Anybody else using the original M?

First shots Nikon P7100

first couple of shots with my new Nikon p7100, they were shot as NRW RAW files and edited in Luminar Neo, then just to add I could only retrieve them for here via WhatsApp so they’ve got that compression too just for bad measure. Anyway I’m quite impressed with the IQ.

P7100 Zoom Noise

Got my Nikon P7100 today, it physically looks new; there lens motor is noisy, it’s referenced once or twice online as being loud for a point n shoot but I just don’t want to go outside the return window if this is a problem. The video unfortunately literally makes it sound a lot more profound than it is in reality, it is almost like a constant micro stepping movement. It finds focus quite fast and shows no errors.

Anyone experienced similar? Or not?

Cheers

EDIT: I’ve just discovered in video mode it’s pretty much whisper silent, the noise is only in stills mode.

Rendering quality

I haven’t seen a great deal about the exceptional rendering quality of the BF, paired the Contemporary line of lenses it renders beautifully. I’ve used many systems and many formats, but this combination paired is easily up there with the best of them.

I know these shots aren’t subjectively the best, but they’re ones I took in past couple of days and the colours from the camera are just amazing.

Camera Battery Charger

Has anybody tried an alternate charger, other than the insanely priced piece of plastic (BC-51) from SIGMA?

I once had similar to one of these (link) when I shot Fuji many moons ago and they worked fine, you can move the +/- pins and charge any size camera battery… in theory. But the voltage is off for using on a BP-81 battery according to Ai.

Recurring chronic peri ?

I don’t even know if this is just peri anymore, very quick version, diagnosed March 2023 with peri and large effusion that was drained. When draining doc hit chest nerve 3x and I fainted as a result. I’ve had gaps of 12 months, but recurring diagnosed via mri. Fast forward to last November I start a job that is a 45min winding drive away, over the course of a month doing the drive twice a day, perceivable it was irritating my then non-active pericarditis, to the point I ended up in er… bloods and echocardiogram where fine, had to leave that job. That was end of November. I’ve never quite recovered. My trigger now is solely upper body strain, like lifting a laptop, moving a heavy ish chair, even cutting a pizza triggered pain. This morning I had no pain for 3 days, tried to pull open a door that was locked. I’m now sat here. It’s not even pain, it’s an internally warm discomfort on my sternum. I know I have recurring peri but I question whether this is nerve damage or Costochondritis. The other thing to note the symptoms don’t get markedly worse dependent on lying position or if I take a deep breath.

My pericarditis has been untreated since last year as cardiologist wants NSAIDS and colchicine in reserve in case I have an acute flare. I’m due to see him next week. I’m in the UK so no biological treatments I don’t think.

I also wonder if this is pericarditis low smouldering and I should get back on colchicine to see it off.

Any thoughts you beautiful people?

Thanks

10yrs?

Hi
My mortgage is up for renewal in 49 days.

This is what Halifax has come back with. It’s an £85k sub account that’s about to expire, the rest is due for renewal in 2030 and is set at 4.37%.

We owe £168k and LTV has just hit 40% this week when Halifax updated house price index.

I know nothing about any of this unfortunately, but that 10yrs with higher payment is £10k less going back to Halifax which seems a big difference.

Any advice please? And I’m really sorry about the long post :)

Can anyone identify what camera this is being used on the touchline for Sui v Col tonight? (FWC26)

Seems very old school for sports photography.

The one thing that P’s me off…

Love my BF, for me it has virtually no technical shortcomings, i knew 99% of what I was getting when I bought it. But the one thing that really pisses me off is the battery prices… the battery we all know is mediocre… in the UK they’re £99; absolute rip off. Most current gen cameras the batteries are much higher capacity for half the cost. They made a mini battery, the price should reflect this. Rant!!

Oh and the charger is a rip off to.

Trip help

Mrs told me to pay and get this done, but I have a set of trimmers with guards, a wide tooth comb and zero intentions of going a barbers. Any advice on how to shape and trim it please.

Mission 1 Pro SOOC

Just a very quick video I did to demo unedited, uneducated, use of the Mission 1 Pro, it is a very overcast day where I was in North Wales, so relative low luminance. The only things I changed was 4k 30fps, high bitrate and to the cinematic image profile. Everything else is set to default to my knowledge.

File size was 3.5gb for 8 minutes

I thought this might be useful for someone similar to me, who doesn’t want to edit 90% of what I’m outputting.

I’m well impressed.

Cheers
