macOS 26.6 Beta Frustrations

I've been running the 26.6 public beta for a little bit now, and I'm noticing some serious input lags with both built in and external keyboard and trackpads.

I've reached out to apple, and each time, they say, "Betas are unstable; uninstall,"; which is fine and understandable, but if it's a public beta, meant for public testing, wth is even the point if they don't take feedback on the potential issues?

I'm trying to figure out what it could be and isolate issues on my own, but the lack of support/feedback is frustrating.

I'm worried it's a hardware issue, but the support team won't even begin to offer assistance until the public beta is completely rolled back, which means a full wipe and restore of my machine, losing at least a few weeks of data.

How do I remove outdated/unwanted apps still listed in "Background Activity"?

I've got some apps (Bjango for iStats); that Canva app, and then Google LLC showing up in "App Background Activity." Two of them are grayed out, and I know I don't have iStat Menus anymore.

How do I remove them from there? I think they're holdovers from my last MacBook Pro and the Time Machine restore, but I'd like them gone altogether from here.

Any tips?

Trying to create a Shortcut to extract Apple Music URLs from a page and add them to MusicBox; what am I missing?

I've borrowed this from somewhere, and I'm obviously missing something.

I know the pipes/bars between actions/blocks indicate a connection, so I can't tell why this is not connecting there.

Maybe it's too complicated? I'm looking at it, and I'm thinking, "All I need it to do is extract URLS; filter Apple Music URLs; and add them to music box," but this just reminds that Shortcuts is not necessarily something just anyone is going to pick up and be able to work with.

I can't get add an 'app' to reddit to use Gallery -dl. Anyone else?

I've been trying to set up gallery -dl for use with reddit, but I can't get past the "create an app" page without a captcha loop.

Is this a new reddit setting, or am I doing something wrong?

Input lag with both built-in and external devices; anyone else?

I’ve been noticing input lag from both my built-in and external keyboards and trackpads in the last few days.

I have a m5 MacBook Pro, and it mainly happens when using the window switcher or inputting text into text fields or documents, but it’s often enough to be both noticeable and disruptive.

Anyone else seeing something similar?

If you still buy physical music...how do you handle your Apple Music library?

I still buy CDs because I like to have a physical copy of my media, but I also don't have a CD player in my car for listening to music.

I've been ripping the CDs to Apple Music and letting Match do its magic, but every now and then, for some reason, random songs will disappear from my library or will show up as not downloaded.

I'm thinking I might need to just buy the music physically but skip the manual importing, but there's something so satisfying about the importing process that downloading from the service just misses, you know?

Editing a Repeating/Recurring task

I've got a task (buy air filters) that I should have set to "Repeat on date" instead of "repeat on date of completion," because it's really there as a recurring reminder, but sometimes I just don't get to it before the deadline. However, if I complete it today, it will repeat on Sept 5 instead of Sept 1.

It doesn't appear that a recurring/repeating task can be edited; instead, it needs to be zapped and started over, right?

For clarification, this isn't about "completing a repeating task early;" instead, it's about not completing a repeating task on time, thus throwing off the time between when it will repeat again.

What makes this "noise" in "Crush with Eyeliner"?

I was listening to the "essential R.E.M." station on Apple Music this AM, and "Crush with Eyeliner" came on. I've mean to ask what is the "sound" or "noise" at this particular point in the song.

(the time stamp should be at about 3:31, but I don't know if that will work with the link)

I'd like to isolate and use it as an alert for something, but I don't even know where to begin to find it.

Text Document to playlist? Easy to do? A shortcut? Or do I need a third party service?

One thing that I've found incredibly tedious is creating a playlist using the Apple Music interface. Sometimes I see a list of songs, or I'm picking up a playlist from a show (like Rooster), and I want to create a playlist for them.

I know TuneMyMusic does this, and Soundiiz does, too, but is linking a third party service to my Apple Music the only way to do this? Has anyone created a shortcut that could do this?

Thanks for any help!

Can’t connect when quitting Mullvad

Just today I’ve noticed that when I quit Mullvad, my whole internet connection drops. This wasn’t an issue yesterday, and it wasn’t an issue until I connected Mullvad for the first time today.

Does anyone have a similar experience? What are my options, other than a different VPN or rebooting my Mac?

Help me with my router; need to open some ports.

I've been trying to figure out port forwarding for my Eero system, and I thought I had it figured out, but I'm guessing I was wrong.

We have Verizon FIOS internet, and the set up is ONT->Fios modem (in bridge mode)->eero in mesh router mode.

My understanding is that I only need to open the port on the eero if the Fios device is in bridge mode, but no matter what I'm doing, I keep getting a notice that the port is closed. Any help or ideas here?

There was a post just today by a girl whose boyfriend didn’t understand a period. Help me find it!

As stated, the post was from today or yesterday. Mostly screenshots. The guy didn’t have any idea how a period worked, and she was getting more and more frustrated with him.

We've recently updated the wifi network at our office, and after installing some extenders, my office is now on a differently named network from where I set up my HomePods mini.

I need to switch them over to "SSID_New Name" from "SSID_Old Name", but at no point can I recreate the option in the Home app (on my phone or Mac) to "switch HomePod network" unless I unplug them, restore them, and then start from scratch.

I'm surprised how bad this UX is, and I know it's probably a niche problem, but it's still incredibly annoying.

Can anyone tell me if I'm doing it wrong so that I can save myself this headache of doing it all over? (Main sticking point: HomePods are positioned and plugged in a difficult to reach spot so full restore and reset is cumbersome).

I had my car in for its regular maintenance a few months ago, and the multi point inspection showed I needed new brakes and tires. I took care of the tires, and then I brought it to them for the brakes and alignment (25% coupon)

Their multi point inspection included a check on brake fluid, front and rear differential, fuel injection, throttle body, and a coolant flush this time, but none of that was on the check just two months ago.

What gives on this? I'm sure it's a ploy to get some more money out of me, so I'm tempted to take it somewhere else for that service. No estimates from them yet, but what's a fair thing to pay for those services? ( a ll marked as "needs immediate attention.")

I love the animal crackers from Trader Joe’s, and these lemon animal crackers are one of my favorite snacks ever from here.

I'm trying to set up a Deco mesh network for our office, but I've noticed that the power cords are about 6" too short for placement. Has anyone had luck find longer power cords? I'm hesitant to try something without knowing how it's worked for others, and there's no other placement options for these units.
