We released a major update for The Vow: Vampire's Curse based on YOUR feedback!

We released a major update for our demo based on your feedback!

One of the biggest things we heard was that our card chaining system felt too limiting, so we completely reworked it. You can now play any card whenever you want, with a new optional Combo system that rewards playing cards of the same color in sequence.

We also reworked combat to focus much more on positioning, pushing and pulling enemies, and using the environment to your advantage.

The update is out now, and we’d love to hear what you think! The Vow: Vampire's Curse

We rebuilt our core card system based on your feedbac

One of the most common comments we got after releasing our demo was that our mandatory card chaining system felt too restrictive.

The biggest change is that we completely rebuilt our card system. Before, every card had to be played as part of a chain, so before you could make the move you actually wanted, you first had to figure out how to play that card. It added a bit of a puzzle, which some people enjoyed, but it also meant you were thinking about the card chain as much as the actual fight, and that could get a little frustrating.

Now you can simply play the card you need. Instead of mandatory chains, we introduced an optional Combo system. If you play cards of the same color one after another, you'll build a Combo and get extra rewards, but it's completely up to you.

On top of that, we also increased the overall pace of the game. Combat should feel more responsive and less sluggish, with faster decision-making and smoother flow from turn to turn.

That also gave us room to redesign combat around positioning instead of card restrictions. Pushes, collisions, hazards, and controlling enemy movement are much more important now.

Changing a mechanic that's at the center of your game is always a bit scary, but it felt like the right call.

The update is out now, and we’d love for you to try it out.

If you played the old demo, I'd genuinely love to know which version you prefer.

We updated our upgrade system and redesigned ui, thoughts ?

Before, you would upgrade your cards during the run itself, often in the middle of battles, but we decided to change that system. Now you'll collect blood throughout each night based on how many enemies you kill. At the end of the level, you can spend that blood however you want: upgrade cards, remove corruption, or improve your order.
Corruption is tied to village defense, so whenever one of your buildings takes damage, one of your cards becomes corrupted, so you'll have to decide whether it's worth spending blood to clean it up or investing that blood somewhere else
And spending on Order will increase Richard's ( the main character's) movement range

This is The Vow: Vampire's Curse, and if you'd like to try it out, the demo is available on steam, would love to hear what you think.

From character portrait to isometric game unit, NO AI

Here's one of the characters from The Vow: Vampire's Curse, shown as both a portrait and an in-game sprite, what do you think?

Her name is Eleanor, and she has a really cool backstory that we're currently working on implementing into the game

We added screen shake to make powerful enemies feel more threatening, thoughts?

A small sneak peek at what we're working on, we've received feedback from our demo players that some actions lacked impact, so we started with adding screen shake but also adding more sound effect. what do you think?
