New GE garage ready freezer

Just arrived today. Before purchasing I chatted with the Costco outsourced help line. They said an extension cord was okay and safe. Page one of the owners manual says “do not use an extension cord”. I had to run an extension cord to get this thing online.
What’s the deal appliance gurus?

MinkaAire fan stopped. Wall switch lights green on fan and light when pressed. Nothing happens.

I have 5 of these running nonstop for 10 years. This one stopped. What do you think?

MinkaAire fan.

I have these everywhere in my house. The one in my guest bedroom recently refuses to start or the light kit light. They are all the same age and I’ve had them spinning nonstop for 10 years. On the wall switch, the power light, lights green when I press the fan start or light on, on the wall switch buttons. Is it the switch, a bad wire somewhere, or this one just gave up the ghost?
PS. The electrician was training his nephew solo on these installs. Every light shade fell off and shattered and one fan seems to have an out of balance rubbing noise. Where should I look?

10 year old LiftMasters

I believe one of two are having issues with the start capacitor. It was 100F over the weekend and the motor buzzed and the door that’s been used regularly for 10 years wouldn’t move. The other unit doesn’t support vehicle storage and is used less frequently and operates fine.
Much cooler yesterday and no buzzing and no issue, door operated fine with several open/close tests. I have a tech coming Friday. Should I just bite the bullet and replace both units now or nickel and dime on diagnostics, repairs, and service call fees? TIA.

Garage door buzzes and sporadically opens, regardless if using keypad, inside pad, or remote.

YouTube university says I need a new start capacitor. Garage is opened/closed roughly 10 times a week. 10 year old LiftMaster. What say ye?

Samsung oven.

Had this oven about 10 years, bought new. It’s gas with convention settings. Generally it’s been okay. Has the wok and flat grill cooktop accessories along with some “healthy cooking” setting which I assume simulates an air frier. Lately, I noticed going to high heat takes a long time. 30+ minutes to get to 450F, the oven “booms” a bit as the gas cycles up, and there is a faint smell of NG. is this normal or should i prepare to replace it. I’m a handy DIYer and can replace parts.
Help me out o’ye appliance gurus.

Help deciding on outdoor cabinet build.

I have a unique space where I want outdoor cabinets and a bar top. Off the shelf stuff won’t work or is ridiculously priced. I live three blocks from the Atlantic Ocean in the north east. I’ve successfully built wooden cabinets before, but not for outdoor use. Do I use Advantech plywood with pressure treated framing, or cement board with aluminum framing, or some variation of each. The top will be antique marble that I know will pit/stain (but I don’t care). It will be approximately 250lbs.
I can do woodworking, but I’m not a fine craftsman, and I’m and experienced DYIer. I want the face of the bar to look like the end of a boat.

Need a garage ready upright freezer recommendation. Frost free 7-10cf.

I hear Hisense isn’t too good and regularly trips GFI outlets. Any suggestions from you appliance gurus? TIA.

Is there a centralized list of Reddit bots?

I have used RemindMe! And another one to see if the post is AI generated content, which I can’t remember. I’m sure there are dozens I don’t know about. Is there a centralized list?

Are most coin dealers legit? Are there ethical guidelines they must follow or some kind of accreditation they have? I’ve accumulated various wheat pennies and silver coins over the years and I want to cash in. I really don’t want to spend hours and hours researching what I have to find out a penny is worth five cents. I understand dealers have to make a profit, but I’m just looking to be treated fairly. TIA.

After hosting several big parties the stove started smoking. On inspection, it looks like the bottom of the stove is full of grease and whatever factory coating was on it is failing. Do I clean this manually and then set the oven from the self-clean cycle or is it best to replace that bottom part entirely? TIA.

4 cylinder turbo on 4Runner

My 2005 4Runner is starting to crumble away. Never gave me massive trouble beyond things just suffering from the environment. Toyota dropped there bulletproof 6 cylinder for this vehicle, but I want another 4Runner. Am I asking for trouble with the 4cyl turbo?
