The brown spot looks like rust fungus.

I thought columnar cacti use gravity to determine their growth direction (at least for roots this is still seems legit to me), but know I am observing a change in growth direction towards the new light source (2-3 month).

This leads me to the question: will it fall over at some point if it’s getting too much side light?

The cutting is at the very bottom of the pup, so almost no wounded surface to callous. Rooting hormone IBA applied immediately to the fresh cut.

Had to get creative — it was too big and spiky for the pressure bandage. The rootstock could have even been more full of sap, it was freshly rooted weeks ago.

Edit: seems it was a little to heavy, it broke near bottom after 3 min 🥹 just erected it, hopefully it’s still gonna make it🤞🏻

If a crested plant (Trichocereus pachanoi in this case) is pupping, will the pup be columnar or crested too? Anybody had such a case before?
