Radiohead bigger than Oasis in America?

I was talking with one of my music friends about upcoming tours. Both Radiohead and Oasis are rumored to hit America in 2027.

He told me me that Radiohead is way more popular in America. Especially with Gen Z.

That doesn’t sound true does it? No way in hell Radiohead could sell out the Rose Bowl or Metlife Stadium for two nights. Most people couldn’t name you a song outside of “Creep”.

What’s with the disdain for modern works on this sub?

The comments in that one thread yesterday (twitter screenshot one) were eye-opening to me. People saying contemporary pieces shouldn’t be part of orchestra programming. Mockingly referring to it as “hemorrhoid music” and “atonal PVC pipe symphony”.

You get the sense that some people think classical music ought to be frozen in amber. That any experimentation is wrong. That the canon couldn’t - and shouldn’t - ever change. That absolutely nobody has interest in such music (despite the fact that Glass, Reich, Cage, even Xenakis, influenced many significant rock and electronic musicians in the last half-century).

Is this attitude more of a US phenomenon or what?

ESPN just laid off Karl Ravech, one of their few remaining hosts synonymous with baseball.

Ravech had been with the network since 1993 and made his name on "Baseball Tonight" and "Sportcenter". He more recently did play-by-play for "Sunday Night Baseball" and the Little League World Series.
