Why are meat eaters full of so many excuses?
This is a hot take, and this isn't directly to shame meat eaters out there.
I have been a vegetarian for around 7 years now, and I've decided to take the plunge and move to veganism. I was already somewhere in the middle between the two, but I want to make the full move - I'd call myself a 'trainee' vegan at the moment, newly learning what I can and can't have now, trying new things, etc., just like I did when I became vegetarian.
I fully admit I love cheese, cakes with eggs, fried egg, etc., but I can also fully appreciate now that I know the industry is wrong, and even if it 'could' be sustainable, the demand and commercialisation means it never will be. I like dairy, I know I don't need it, I can admit that and I want to do better.
However...
When I look through Instagram comments about anything meat/vegan related, meat eaters seem to be able to come up with every excuse under the sun as to why they need to eat meat. Whether it's 'our ancestors did it', or 'I need it for health reasons', or 'we are carnivores', or 'it can be sustainable', and the list goes on (and I'm sure you've heard them all). But it infuriates me.
If you eat meat, okay, admit that you eat meat because you want it and like it. But also admit that you know it's wrong, and you should do better. It's not about shame, but about accountability. Meat eaters seem to be able to justify themselves so hard, and they get really defensive about it (more so than vegans themselves).
If eating meat is so right, why so defensive? Why do they keep convincing themselves so hard and jump straight to the defensive rather than listening to the facts? There's a very 'ignorance is bliss' mindset to meat eaters.
A general point to this post is how do you try to control your emotions when these things make you mad (for your own mental heath). How do you educate people so that they stop making excuses, and take accountability rather than seeing you as a threat?
Sorry this is a lot to unpack but social media, videos, comments and the rest has been making me crazy this week and I needed to vent in a safe space away from defensive meat eaters & their antics 😅
What do you do
I've never made it this far yet without restarting with a new family, but what do you do when kids grow up?
Do you keep them all under one roof and live as one big family, or do you let them move out and live as the parents until they die, or do you live as just one of the children's lives and take that forward (but how do you choose)?
Basically, I've made me and my boyfriend, made us have 5 kids and they are all called names of pets we've had pass away in memory of them - so I'd like to keep the game going somehow.
Also, I've been playing with NO cheats for the first time ever!! Fully built my careers and money up, actually making them go to the toilet when they need it - it's been fully stressful at some times but the challenge has been fun.
I want ideas and interested to see what other people do when you make it that far 😄
Clothing Help
Hi everyone,
I've had a bit of a crisis this morning - we've got a heatwave in the UK and literally nothing weather appropriate fits me. It feels like only recently that I bought more clothes my size and yet again some of the pieces are feeling tight.
I don't have the money to keep throwing at buying more and more clothes to find stuff that fits as my body keeps changing - it's beyond even finding clothes I like now and just desperately wanting something that actually fits and is comfortable.
I've even tried charity shopping and they want like £10 or more per piece now which seems so excessive, I can get new clothes the same price or cheaper for that.
I don't want to keep basing my wardrobe on 'this doesn't fit me but I do want to lose weight', because it means I'm stuck with a whole wardrobe that makes me feel suffocated and feels like it makes me look awful being so tight and badly fitted.
Has anyone got any recommendations on how to have a wardrobe that fits while actually not throwing money away to keep updating clothes to a new size?
Whether you lose weight or gain weight, how do you have a wardrobe without wasting money? I used to keep clothes for years and years, but now they barely make it past a few months because I gain more weight.
I'm exhausted and I feel like it takes a toll on my MH every single time I get changed in the morning 😔
Darts at Forum Arena
Hi,
This might seem a silly question, but I've come to Copenhagen for a long weekend and seeing the darts at Forum.
My idiot boyfriend has forgotten to pack ALL trousers! So he only has the joggers he came in.
Are joggers acceptable to wear in Forum, could he be turned away if he wears them?
I'm aware in the UK sometimes dress code can be strict for guys on things like logos, football shirts, etc. But I'm not sure about joggers.
Otherwise we are probably looking at buying some jeans and leaving them in luggage storage near the station (since we are staying in Malmö & have the full day in Copenhagen).
Thank you in advance!
GI Stasis - first time experience
Hi everyone, this is my first time going through a potential stasis episode with any of my bunnies after 3 years.
She became distant keeping herself away from the others, hasn't drank from her water bowl and being very picky with food, only eating sparsely.
We went to the vets this morning and the vet said she can't hear her gut moving but has done some small poops throughout and does occasionally eat, so the vet prescribed Meloxicam for pain & Cisapride to get the gut moving.
She's had one round of both, with her next Cisapride tablet due in a couple of hours, but currently she's in the exact same position. Sometimes she's eating a little of the recovery food from the syringe, but I'm also force syringing other little bits throughout the day to make sure (as advised by the vet). Sometimes she drinks water from the syringe, other times not, and still no interest in her water bowl.
I feel so sorry for her and will follow the medication as advised but I don't know when I'm supposed to expect improvement. Has anyone has a similar treatment plan, and if so, when did you start seeing results? Or did it in fact get worse?
I'm watching her like a hawk and I'm so worried but feel stuck between a rock and a hard place that she occasionally shows interest in food/water and is occasionally pooping/weeing briefly but is still really not herself.
Really appreciate any tips/experiences as this is my first time going through this.
Guys, we have a 10 day holiday booked from this Saturday. Last year, we went the same time mid-May in Antalya and it was absolutely baking. This time around, Rhodes still being close-ish, and the weather is looking badddd in comparison! Sunday is looking rainy and it's saying the 'feels like' lowest temp is 2 degrees!!! Would be better off staying in the UK! I know this sounds dramatic but I feel like I'm gonna cry as we spent a lot of money on this holiday. Someone please give me some faith 🥲
I hope this question makes sense...
So, I am charged interest daily. Let's say, I pay off the full balance right now. There is still going to have been interest between the last statement date, and the date I paid the balance.
So when the next month comes around, if I watch my account like a hawk and pay off the interest as soon as it is applied on my account, I will still accumulate a day's worth of interest on the interest, because I would have to pay interest on the interest.
How do you ever permanently pay off a card so that no further interest becomes due without closing the account?
I hope that kind of makes sense!
