1.4L, 2.0L, and 2.4L Engines use Multi-Port Fuel Injection (PFI) and not Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI)

1.4L, 2.0L, and 2.4L Engines use Multi-Port Fuel Injection (PFI) and not Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI)

I feel like I'm getting hit with the Mandela Effect.

For years I researched, confirmed, and thought the engine used direction injection which is why I was so cautious with catching oil vapors and valve cleaning. I even spread that word around to warn others.

I'm doing some research on something else last night and these engines are apparently port injected??? This has always been the case.

I have no idea why I thought they were GDI and I cannot find anything on the web that suggests that I may have read some incorrect information.

Apologies to anyone I may have mislead on the subject; I really thought that was the truth. My bad ya'll...

ETA: As a positive, even MORE reason to use Top Tier Gas (Shell, Exxon, etc. Use the app/list) to put good detergents to work washing the back of those valves.

"...just like the old days..."

Had the opportunity to shoot some IDPA with one of the communities I grew up around, meeting one of my old mentors after around 15 years since I left home; rest in peace to the few who aren't around anymore but have bays at that range dedicated to their name.

Man in the video, shooting his second mag, is a retired Green Beret who still teaches today. We got some playtime in between stages and while it's not on video, when he got done with the first mag he leaned toward me and said, "yeah... just like the old days."

G19.3 - Kiral Standard 1-piece vs. Rapid Engineering Large

Not a pure comparison of backstraps/beavertails, as I don't have RE Gen 3 Small, but I thought the visual might help someone in the future.

RE Gen 3 Large grip angle felt great but took me a little too far away from my mag release and trigger than I wanted.

Kiral slim/small put me JUST about right with my beloved Grit Grips. Something like 0.9-to-1

Good enough for now.

Rapid Engineering Backstrap for Glock 42

Kudos to u/RapidEngineering for putting this out after requested. All of the benefits listed on the site are certainly there, but the biggest difference for shooting the baby is the longer trigger reach; don't have to curl my index finger to the nth degree to get in there now.

I got one for my 19.3 as well, but so far not absolutely loving it... more rounds will tell. I got the large for the grip angle change but the increase in size is just a little too much. Small says it doesn't change grip angle so I skipped on it and now I have to wait for it to come back in stock.

Milling Height Comparison: Vickers Glock Sights Clearance over RMR Type 2

The quick facts:

  • FDE RMR: Sights barely clear the optic deck, we're talking lower 1/10th but are plenty usable for front sight index and alignment for more precise shots. Not what I'd recommend to a beginner, but near-perfect clearance for what I wanted. I bet I could get it PERFECT if I removed the sealing plate, but I won't...
  • Grey RMR: Sights clear more cleanly, I'd say perfect for anyone to use, maybe lower 1/4th or 1/5th. Just BARELY higher than what I wanted.
  • If I could get a goldilocks height just between them, I would, but after a year or two of experimentation, I'm done done.

FDE is an OEM slide, a G19.3 cut for RMR by Wager and sits 2-3 millimeters higher than the clone.

Grey is the Clone slide, a JM Custom Grips Chimera with their RMR cut option, the blanks come from Azimuth Technology but I'm not sure which of them is responsible for the optic cut specifications.

Both RMRs are mounted with the sealing plate. Irons are Wilson Combat Vickers Elite Battlesights. Both rear sights are the same, both front sights are 10K gold bead. OEM gun has the .245" tall post while the clone gun has the .230" post. Literature says the .230" is for .45 ACP, but...

... I went the long road with experimentation switching all of my front sights between these guns, including OEM ones that I shaved down, and I've got them both to POA==POI at 25 yards favoring the left corner of the front sight with my preferred ammo. Why are they different? Who knows... all of those super tiny mechanical factors. Test your gun, know your gun, no two are exactly alike.

If I ever build another gun, I'm going back to an adjustable rear sight like my Dawson. Drifting rear sights is such a drag that I never want to do it for precision again. Word to Michael Caine from Batman Begins... for front sights of varying heights, I have plenty of spares.

Which WML do ya'll think better suits my MK IV SSH?

Inforce APL Gen 2:

  • Terrible light output by today's standards, but still usable
  • Older, no use on other platforms except perhaps inert/sim guns for teaching
  • Single cell, changeable from front
  • Lighter for easier handling
  • Possibly more aesthetic because of more black contrast
  • Lockout feature by twisting bezel

Surefire X300T-B:

  • Candela and Lumens are among the top tier right now
  • Plenty of places to use it on other platforms, including the carbine I borrowed it from
  • Two cells, have to remove the light to change
  • Heavier and a little wider, but the upfront weight deletes already miniscule felt recoil
  • Possibly more aesthetic because "SUREFIRE"
  • No lockout
  • ETA: Plethora of open and closed holsters that use the X300 as the anchor point

Width between them is negligible, only a few millimeters of difference and neither one is easier/harder to store nor props up more when laid a flat surface.

Durability is a moot point given the platform.

For those or whatever other reasons, which do you prefer? I think it comes down to the vibe.

Did anyone else miss that Trijicon now includes the RM63 Sealing Plate with RMRs?

Unless I'm completely blind, my search engine skills have severely degraded, and my LLM is lying to me, Trijicon didn't announce this and I have no idea when it started. Seems like someone would've said something with people complaining about for years and years.

I ordered a brand new Type 2 from Primary Arms and added a sealing plate in my order. Wouldn't have purchased a separate one had I'd known they come in the box now. Anyways, just wanted to make sure everyone else knew since I didn't find anyone else sharing that info in a search.

u/PA_Pyke maybe it's time to update the product pages?

I guess now I have an extra in case one of my other two.... yeah nah, I can't think of a reason a sealing plate would fail.

ETA:

Got curious and looked into the wayback machine.

For the black 3.25 MOA model (which I assume is the most popular) the sealing plate did not appear on the product page on 29 JAN 2026 but DID appear on the product page on 22 FEB 2026.

I didn't take the time to look at the other SKUs, and we should also consider that even if webpage update was between those dates, it doesn't mean that the plates weren't shipping with the optics earlier.

Is Danny Myers vs Gemin1 gone forever? Were any of the battles from "The Gulag" preserved anywhere?

I was binging all Gemin1's battles when I noticed the one against Danny that I never saw before. Never heard of the league who hosted it before this either.

Saw that The Gulag got their YT channel taken down, but I don't know if that means the league itself and people holding the footage are gone. Anyone know where I can watch it?

Oddly, the league's Twitter/X has a post on 1 MAY 2026 advertising for another event in SEP. I don't have an account there, could anyone kindly read the comments or ask the question for me?

I didn't recognize anyone else from The Gulag's battles, but I'm sure that was important to some of them to have those battles out; sucks for up-and-comers or local vets, I wouldn't know, not from there.

How I learned to stop worrying about who is Top Tier and love Gwitty...

Original Link since reddit embeds are weird sometimes: Gwitty vs KD | Bag$ & Bodies | Rap Battle - YouTube

... he's just fun to observe, I'll never ask him to elevate or do anything else, win, or stop getting stomped. He has these weird little moments where if you "squint" you can tell he put some effort into his work and I don't think he gets enough appreciation for it because it's certainly not consistent.

In fact, some of his gallery giving him the "Mmmmm" gas for every bar is part of what makes people miss when he actually has something good going, too much masking. Put Gwitty in a small room with Lux, let's just see what happens.

ETA, another one for the road: GWITTY VS MAD MAX OUT NOW

A couple of other moments I like from him vs. A. Ward:

On stage 3 or 4, first shot dead on and dot disappears before my eyes. Second shot hits a non-threat. Third shot is on just ghost-ringing it, then finished the rest of the stage with my hard sights; irons were dead on, exactly as If drifted them months ago. Train with your hard sights, ya’ll.

MD tells me to go change batteries quickly and he’ll give me a reshoot.

I have the battery door open, struggling to get it out, when I notice what happened. Went back to the bay and showed another shooter and he helped me find the lens. Used my backup gun to finish the match.

Primary Arms RS-10R, this is the second one I’ve broke (first was electronic failure) and I currently own two: one RMA and one purchased separately. Going to ask them if I can return both for store credit and get an RMR Type 2, HD, 507 Comp, or Vortex Defender XL. I’m undecided. I need to measure the deck heights.

I think behind the scenes was a fan of Mega Man video games

*Someone behind the scenes

There was the crack about Luke’s “Mega Man Protein Powder” which I was willing to let slide because “Mega Man” could just be a product describing a bulked up dude for a supplement, not the named IP…

… but then Luke and Dean are in the arcade and Dean is playing a cabinet (with the stock generic game sounds all media use) that has art of characters Mega Man X and Zero (the leg and hair). The Megaman X series are games that only came out on console and handheld, no arcade game exists. That wasn’t some random accident from using a generic prop like the Galaga game behind it. I want to believe someone chose that intentionally because they saw the art available.

For background, I’m just a casual observer of the show because my ex always played it in the background and I’d catch the occasional Hemingway or Godfather reference and she ask for explanation when I laughed.

Now watching with my ex for the first time in earnest on my own terms (meaning full episodes in order as a series, not randomly skipping around between scenes of different episodes) and actually understanding the narrative and picking up on references. If there are more Mega Man appearances after this point, I just haven’t found them yet.
