Ok so I just registered for this course and it uses Canvas. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME EVER USING CANVAS.
I login and I see this "latest update from Canvas" notification. Perf.
I read it and I'm just like how is this real and what did I get myself into. I'm reading that they paid the "hackers" in exchange for deleting the data and that Canvas has received "assurances that [data] will not be further shared on the dark web or elsewhere" and "proof that any copies of that data were deleted". Like who actually believes that?
Can someone explain to me what information/data got compromised?
I just registered and got access to Canvas on May 20th, so would I be impacted in any way?
Even then, what information got compromised from the cyber attack, so I know how to move accordingly in case of another incident?
When does Clientele start for Canadians (if there’s a difference)?
Re: How to do well in these courses at Portage Learning specifically
Hey, I'm going to be starting CHEM 212 (Biochemistry with Lab) & CHEM 219 (Principles of Organic Chemistry with Lab) at Portage Learning.
For those who have taken and succeeded in these courses, I would really appreciate it if you could comment or PM me any tips/advice/resources you have for doing well on both the exams and labs.
Hey, I want to do at-home/self micro-needling regularly.
My Derm said I can safely do micro-needling at home, as long as it’s sanitary and one-time use each time (disposable). That said, do you guys have any recommendations of micro-needling devices/pens/products, whatever tools are used for this, that I can look into to purchase that are dermatologist approved and so that I can also double check it with my dermatologist.
I’ve done cosmetic things before without getting it approved by an MD and things went….. horrifically.
So now I want to do my own research AND also get it MD approved before doing ANYTHING to my face/skin or any cosmetic-related things. Please drop/name/link your recommendations so I can research and decide.
Hey guys,
I have two science prerequisite courses with labs to take for professional school, and I need a high grade in both of them.
I’m looking at my options for taking these courses and labs online.
Right now, I’m looking at Portage Learning:
Ideally, I wanted to take two biochemistry courses with labs instead of an organic chemistry course with a lab, but most places only seem to offer one biochemistry course with a lab, including Portage Learning.
For anyone who has taken these courses through Portage Learning:
Are the exams mostly multiple choice, or do you also have to draw structures/mechanisms out for either course?
Please let me know your experience.
Where can I take biochemistry 1 & 2 online (course + labs) for prerequisites for professional school? I’m looking for somewhere that’s reasonable to get a high grade and doesn’t have a final exam worth 50% of the course.
Right now, I'm looking at University of New England, Doane, Portage Learning, Thompson Rivers University. Any recommendations on where to register? Any tips on doing well?
Does anyone know where I can get a really good / strong biochemistry tutor that's also reliable for university-level biochemistry (Canada or America)?
I'm not looking for tutors off reddit, so no-self promotion.
Has anyone completed the biochemistry science prerequisites for medical school through Thompson Rivers University, Doane University, or University of New England?
I would really appreciate hearing about your experience, including:
I’m looking for both Toronto and Turkey septorhinoplasty surgeon recommendations. My goal is natural-looking, but not so natural that the nose still ends up looking completely straight. I’ve even seen cases (at least in Toronto) where there’s still a visible bump and then the bridge just goes straight after it, which personally isn’t the look I want.
A lot of Toronto surgeons seem to specialize in extremely conservative “straight nose” results, which isn’t what I’m looking for. I still want it the subtle slope and lifted tip, just not overdone or obviously fake. I also don't want to get botched.
I looked into Dr. Oakley Smith (Toronto, Canada) but most of the noses I saw were too straight from his portfolio.
I had a consult with Dr. Richard Rival (Toronto, Canada) and I didn’t have a good experience and the aesthetic didn't fit what I wanted either
I am looking for a surgeon specialized in both cosmetic changes and functional correction as well (septoplasty + rhinoplasty / septorhinoplasty).
I guess one of my biggest concerns with choosing a surgeon in Turkey is the language barrier and overall reliability/accountability since it’s outside of Canada.
If anyone from Canada/America has gone to Turkey for rhinoplasty/septorhinoplasty, I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences, recovery, cost, results, regrets, surgeon recommendations, etc.
anyone who did their prereqs with star med, can you msg me please?
I learned just now that Vaughan is the rudest city in Canada.
For those who created their own tutoring website, how did you build it and what did you include on it?
For those who take notes, where and how do you usually take them efficiently and quickly (including, typing, photos, drawings, diagrams, etc.)?

I’ve officially hit that stage where everyone around me is getting married and moving forward with their lives. And that’s not even the worst part.
Everything in my life is either stagnant or going downhill at the same time. Education, career, finances, health, relationships. On top of that, I’m experiencing other serious troubles in life that are negatively impacting me as well. Overall, everything just feels like it’s moving in a really negative direction, and only God knows if or when I’ll be able to come out of it.
Even my hobbies aren’t going right anymore.
Genuinely, life is wild and just keeps throwing things at you. It honestly feels like a nightmare having to wake up every day and face more and more bad things happening one after another.
I want to start content creation on Instagram first. Which apps do you use on iPhone to edit photos? Which apps do you use to plan out your Instagram posts/feed prior to posting?
I am also interested in blogging. Does blogging make money in today's day in age? How did you get started with a blog?
How did you guys make money in med school?

Any there any Canadians (Non-US) IMGs here who matched into California for residency outside of FM/IM/Peds? What specialties/programs people were successful with?
Looking at academic programs, but want to hear about community too.
