Got some targets from my last match, put it on my gaming room wall. Started to do some transitions in dry fire. I started to notice I’m not looking at the target properly when I switch targets.

I shoot occluded. As soon as I bring the gun up-to the next targets I feel like even when I think I’m focusing on the target the occluded sight is blocking most of my view and the dot is just there where I am looking. What should I do to train my eyes better? I don’t have this issue at all static range with a brighter light and a more obvious target

Also ACE VR seems intriguing but I’m going to wait a little bit. So rn the space is limited. Set up is ghetto

How to reload efficiently by Ben Stoeger

A lot of people especially in this sub swear to god you should look at the threat while reloading….
Well you have an empty gun, you can’t shoot. Why look at anything other than the task at hand? Which is reloading?

Can anyone explain that process to me?

“What about pitch darkness?”
Why are you shooting in the pitch darkness where you can’t see without confirming where your target is?

Anyone find reloads on this gun extremely punishing?

I am having issue with the mag lips getting just caught on the gun when I try to do reloads and the mag will be launched completely off the gun when I try to slam it in.

The gun is pretty punishing for reloads compared to my gen 3 and gen5 Glocks I’ve shot. You have to get it 100% or nothing

Also is there after market mag release that gets rid of the ambi mag release? Sometimes the mag release on the other side hits my middle finger and the mag won’t drop freely so I got two mags hitting each other.

Pic of the hole for reference it has taken some abuse from dry fire

How are people carrying like a flux raider/Staccato, 3 mags. 2 tourniquets, a fucking rope and a bag everytime they go out

This is literally all I carry
(Holster not pictured. I use the nerd slicc iwb and Trex ironside owb for my carry options.

How does the full size shoot compared to the compact

I have an echelon 4.0c that I carry and compete Carry optics with. Though I want to get a full size for competition. I shot my friends bone stock g47 and I hated it. It’s def not for me.

So that brings me to the 4.5F. How does it shoot compared to the compact?

USPSA do have P80s on the list but does mine belong in Carry optics?

(Will be removing the mag well so don’t consider that)

It’s not ported or anything just a regular P80

Newbie shooter. advice on target focus etc

I got my first pistol beginning of May this year and have shot 2k rnds through it. Just started to go to competition (USPSA/IDPA level1) in the beginning of June after 1k rounds of struggle.

I started to do doubles recently for practice at the range instead of just slow firing like everyone else around me. I tend to shoot as fast as I can reacting to the dot. Or try some predictive shooting as well. I have my dot occluded but even then I find myself struggling to focus on a spot on the target esp when the target is empty. Or when the target is full of shots/pasters I have no idea where I’m looking sometimes besides a general spot. What can I do to improve my target focus?

Also for my grip. I find myself struggling with a middle of the shot flinch or like a muscle spasm. I try to pay attention to where my dot resets after the double it’s around the same place before I began shooting but as you can see my grouping suck.

Also I’ve never shot bill drills until a match couple days ago so I started to do that as well today

Attached image is target from 5-7yrds shooting doubles as fast as I could react to the dot on the spot and I think I’m focusing on with a couple of bill drills in between.

Idk my splits I don’t have a shot timer. They are quite expensive

2k rounds through my Echelon 4.0C many more to go

Picked it up beginning of May. Been 2 and half months. My first legitimate hand gun. Still a newbie shooter, practicing slowly and steadily. Started to shoot occluded when I got the defender ST recently

Avg 1k a month so far

I wish Springfield would give us a factory Pro version and a factory steel frame version of the echelon

They got a very modular gun but they literally supports zero aftermarket. Very interesting concept.

The echelon alpha is just a cheaper version in the grand scheme of things

So I shot a PDP Pro-E today. I love it. Should I trade my Glocks for it?

Genuinely 10/10 gun and top 2 striker fired gun I’ve shot. It’s better than my echelon 4.0(my carry and competition gun) in shooting but it’s more bulky for carry for sure.

Also I built a p80 with SCT frame Brownell slide and barrel with everything else OEM Glock and I also have a G19C. I literally don’t shoot those at all since I focus on shooting my EDC only and I don’t like shooting ported guns. Both of those are ported . So They are sitting in the safe.

Should I trade those two for a PDP pro-E?

Performance carry pistol comparison. PDP PRO-E 4” vs Echelon 4.0 C

First of all. I only started to shoot pistol properly ever since I got my first handgun (echelon 4.0c) 2 months ago so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But I don’t see a direct review of these two guns anywhere so here we go.

Also another thing to declare is that my definition of snappy is fast kick and return.

Ammo used is the 115gr Magtech blue box

PDP Pro-E has the Aimpoint Acro. The echelon has TLR-7HLX with Vortex Defender ST, also talon grip tape. I was shooting the echelon with the dot occluded.

The PDP shoots very differently to every single striker fired gun I’ve shot so far of the same size (P-10, Glock 19, M&P 2.0 Carry and my echelon ofc) The PDP shoots more like a 9mm 2011/1911. People say it’s snappy I think PDP is completely opposite of what I think a snappy gun is. It’s very soft and positive in its recoil. It has more felt recoil more than the echelon sure but it’s way less snappy than the echelon. The return is obvious and smooth. But not as fast as the echelon imo. I can shoot the echelon faster as well. But I think once a shooter get used to how the PDP behaves. It will be a very fast gun. This is my first ever time shooting this gun. I was shooting quick doubles at 5-7 yrds. (Look at the middle target) Gone through 100 rnds. Another two target on top are echelon doing the same drill at 5-7 yrds.

The trigger is better than the echelon too. Not that i actually notice it during shooting because they feel pretty much the same during shooting but, when dry firing you can feel the PDP trigger is 0.5-1lb lighter, with almost no take up and a more positive reset than the echelon.

Things I prefer the echelon over the PDP is it’s actually a more compact package. It’s less bulk with less height as well. Can you remove the flared mag well on the PDP? Also can you get a flush fit mag? If so it’s definitely a good pair to my echelon. Also I find the echelon to have a slightly more ergonomic grip module. I have small palm but long fingers. PDP fits my dominant hand well. But I don’t like the upper part of the grip module. It doesn’t fit my support hand well. Also the slide lock takes up way too much space. I don’t know if it’s a rental gun issue or what but the PDP refuse to lock back on the last round no matter what. I think it’s either my right thumb or my left hand doing stuff to the slide lock. Echelon also has a way better optic mounting system from my research. It’s super easy to use. It doesn’t need plates and basically every optic is a direct mount if you have the right pin Springfield gives you for free. Backstrap replacement is easier on the echelon as well.

Overall. You can currently buy an Echelon 4.0C for $450 at Bereli and the PDP pro is $150 more.

Either way I don’t see either guns to be the wrong choice. Both are striker fired 9mm but both also shoots very differently. If you are looking for a good Performance Duty pistol I’d shoot both of these together and see which one you like. I can’t decide which one I like more and I’d have both if I have the money/ammo to do so. I prefer carry size/G19 guns since I started to do IDPA/USPSA with my echelon which is the gun I carry. So if I were to get another pistol I’d get the PDP PRO-E for sure.

Also I tried and held the F series grip. It’s alright but makes no difference.

I also prefer both of these guns over a M&P.

TL:DR.

PDP PRO-E shoots more like a 2011 with slightly more kick offering superior trigger and feel. But echelon offers a more compact and balanced package with less bulk and more modularity for a cheaper price

Thanks

Echelon is very underrated This is should be new standard for plastic guns

Great reliability. Pretty much 0 gun related malfunction in 1.7k rnds so far

Great modularity, swap frame without FFL.

Best optic mounting system I’ve ever used.

Ambi controls.

Made by HS Produkt, Not a Modern SIG

Now the after market just need to catch up.

Any idea why there’s a fairly strong hang up right there for my Glock build

SCT frame and Brownell barrel and slide. Plus NDZ 15lb recoil spring, PolyDAT trigger and Ghost connector

Everything else is from OEM Gen 3 Glock

Orange stuff is from my new holster
