CCW Rotation

Took my CCW candidates to the range yesterday: Fusion XF Pro, Canik METE Prime, and the newly acquired Fusion XP-3C. When I received the XP-3C I didn’t like the trigger pull so I had an ignition kit installed and had the weight set for 3lbs. Got it back from the gunsmith yesterday so what better way to test it out. I also ran into a friend of mine who recently took ownership of the Canik Prime Radian. And so we shot it too for comparison. Yes, the Prime Radian is better IMO than the Canik Prime. And when it becomes available again, I’d like to pick one up. It won’t replace my Fusions however. It’ll just be an addition. Both Fusion pistols are just in a different category. They’re heavier and faster shooting guns. They’re flatter than the Caniks. And yes that includes my TTi Combat and Rival SFx (which I love also). The XP-3C is a very flat compact 2011. I’m thinking the weight is contributing to its flatness. I still need to do some training with it before I officially make it my AIWB/Carry. But boy is she a shooter.

What Division

Question for you guys. When I started competition shooting, a few people suggested I avoid guns with comps and/or ports. Otherwise I would be in Open Division. So I bought a Canik Rival and a TTi Combat. And then I bought my first 2011 (XP Pro Comp from Fusion). That lead me to Sig’s P211/GTO, Staccato XC, the RCD Core, and I ordered a MPA Loc V2 (27 more weeks). I’ve been shooting my XC in IDPA, and recently started shooting the Core in USPSA. I’m Unclassified, but last few classifiers I’ve shot nothing less than C Class, and nothing higher than B Class. At my match yesterday, a squad member was shooting the Tac Comp. Suggested I shoot the XC in Open given I’m learning anyway. IMO, he had a point. I’m only competing against me at this point. What do I really lose by not shooting the best guns I have? So I ask you. Should I shoot/train in Open Division or stick w/CO? BTW, the CORE is a very nice gun to shoot, but it’s not the XC or P211. Also, I given I use the XC in IDPA, it makes sense to use the XC in USPSA, training and shooting w/the same gun and getting the reps in. Would love your thoughts and opinions on it.

Can Someone Explain This?

I’ll start with, I was able to extract the bullet. Has anyone seen this happen before? I was doing drills and with about two rounds left in the magazine, I felt an issue. I tried going through the process of clearing it then noticed a round in the chamber. It wasn’t just in there, it was jammed. And before the question is asked, no, all rounds were properly loaded into the magazine.

Gun Options For Teenagers

I’ve been teaching my 13-year-old grandson to shoot and have been focusing heavily on safety, proper fundamentals, trigger control, sight picture, and recoil management.
Lately he’s been shooting my Fusion XF Pro during static drills, low-ready double taps, and slow Bill Drills. He’s making good progress, but I’m wondering if there might be a better pistol to continue building his skills.
The other option I have is my Canik METE MC9 Prime, but to me it’s noticeably snappier than the XF Pro, so I’m not convinced it’s the right choice.
I know that with enough training he can become proficient with almost any handgun, but if your goal was to build confidence, good habits, and recoil control in a young shooter, what would you recommend? I’d like to rent a few options before buying one.
One other consideration: I’m left-handed, he’s right-handed (all my holsters are for a left-handed shooter) so once we settle on a pistol I’ll be buying a right-handed holster that he can use during training.
I’d appreciate any recommendations and, more importantly, why you’d choose that particular gun.
Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: Thanks everyone. Your advice has been priceless.

Newbie shooter. advice on target focus etc

I got my first pistol beginning of May this year and have shot 2k rnds through it. Just started to go to competition (USPSA/IDPA level1) in the beginning of June after 1k rounds of struggle.

I started to do doubles recently for practice at the range instead of just slow firing like everyone else around me. I tend to shoot as fast as I can reacting to the dot. Or try some predictive shooting as well. I have my dot occluded but even then I find myself struggling to focus on a spot on the target esp when the target is empty. Or when the target is full of shots/pasters I have no idea where I’m looking sometimes besides a general spot. What can I do to improve my target focus?

Also for my grip. I find myself struggling with a middle of the shot flinch or like a muscle spasm. I try to pay attention to where my dot resets after the double it’s around the same place before I began shooting but as you can see my grouping suck.

Also I’ve never shot bill drills until a match couple days ago so I started to do that as well today

Attached image is target from 5-7yrds shooting doubles as fast as I could react to the dot on the spot and I think I’m focusing on with a couple of bill drills in between.

Idk my splits I don’t have a shot timer. They are quite expensive

Fusion Sleepers

Picked up the XP 3C today. Put about 100 arounds in it just to see how the trigger, recoil, flatness and accuracy compared to the XF Pro and XP Pro Comp/Ported. I knew going in it would be different, but again, just want to know how it felt. And TBH, I’m not sure why everyone is sleeping on Fusion. The XP Pro Comp is a beast. It’s not $2,500 level on fit and finish, but I’d take it into battle everyday and twice over the weekends. The XF Pro is the best shooting striker fire I’ve ever fired from a shooting perspective. I like the triggers on the Canik and Walther, but shooting? Hands down the XF Pro. My only request would be for Fusion to make a larger/full size gun. And then there’s the XP 3C. The trigger weigh needs to be reduced to about 3.5 lbs. If feels like it’s currently +5 lbs, though I’ve never measured. Recoil? What recoil???? I’m really thinking if I can get the trigger reduced to around 3.5 lbs, this baby is lights out. But then I’m also left with a dilemma, which should I use as my EDC/CCW? I’ve been using the XF Pro as my EDC/CCW, but should I reconsider? Not gonna lie, appendix carry places the XF Pro/XP 3C to close for comfort. I’m 200% certain I’ll never squeeze the trigger while either of them (or any gun for that matter) while it’s pointed at my Johnson. That 70 series trigger scares the shit out of me. So here’s my question(s): Should I keep the XF Pro as my CCW or switch to the XP 3c (after some training of course)? If you have both guns, what’s been your experience? Finally, are you hearing (or aware of) any particular reason people are sleeping on Fusion’s inventory? I know they’re not Staccatos or Sig’s, but shooting wise, they’re great.

Fusion XP 3C ???

Anyone hearing when Fusion Firearms is going to start shipping their XP 3C? I’m currently using their XF Pro as my EDC/CCW and want to replace it with an affordable 2011. I held one during NRA Houston. If the XP Pro Comp and XF Pro are indicators, I believe it’s going to be a great EDC/CCW option. But again, when?

How to sell my Walther PDP Pro PMM

Less than 30 mins. ago I purchased my first Walther PDP Pro PMM. This will probably piss a lot of readers off here, but I'm just not feeling this gun. I like the aesthetics of the gun, especially the grip, but that's really it. I own a Canik TTi and a Canik Rival SFx. I've seen a number of videos that compare the Walther's trigger to Caniks, and so I've always wanted one. Well today, I got one, and I'm really disappointed. The Canik triggers are better. Equally, the recoil behavior and flatness are better on the Caniks. The Walther has a great grip and the size I prefer. Again, not a bad gun, just not what I'm looking for. I also have an XF Pro from Fusion Firearms. If my XF Pro was the size of the PDP Pro PMM, I would say it too is a better shooting gun. Hell, I'm just gonna say it. It is a better shooting gun. I'm struggle here because I'm thinking about selling it after shooting 50 rounds. That's not enough for most shooters, but guys, I can thinking of one change that may come up if I were to shoot another 100 rounds through it. I'll take any advice you guys can share. And I'm probably just need to keep shooting it. But it's hard knowing that I have better guns I could be shooting. HELP!!!

Range Day w/Rival & TTi

Had the amazing joy of taking my 13 year old grandson out for Range Day. We shot my Rival SFx and TTi Combat, and my P211 and Staccato XC. We worked on stance, grip, trigger, and target acquisition. I was happily surprised he could tell the differences in the 2011 platform vs strike fire. He liked the Rival over the TTi (I love them both), but liked the over 2011s over the Caniks. Which didn’t surprise me. We did a few single, doubles, and three tap shots, again, training on grip, not speed. The Kid had me smiling when I asked him to tell me which 2011 he liked: “This one is(P211) heavier so the recoil feels less, but this one (XC) seems smoother. I like all of them, but I like the one with the star (XC) the most.” All said, the Caniks held the attention of a 13 year old. I’m praying God blesses me years of Range Day with this guy so we can reflect on these moments and compare his future assessments. As for my assessment (today only) I think the differences with the Caniks are negligible. Triggers on both are great. I’d give a slight edge to the TTi only because it has less recoil for me. The Comp does its job. For the 2011s: Within 3-7 yards at a steady indoor speed, they about the same. You’re in the A Zone shooting Bill Drills with both guns. However, as you push out, the XC begins to shine. I’ve done a few competitions so far and most targets are 3-20 yards away. I’ve competed with the Caniks and 2011, and comfortable saying the guns are better than the shooter. I have an edge w/the 2011s, but a better shooter would run circles around me if I had the XC and he/she had one of the Caniks. Most of all…I got to spend a day with my grandson and he had fun hanging with the old man!!! 100% I won the day!!!

RC9 Core Holster

I currently use the RangeKinetx holster for my P211. I’ve competed in a few matches (OP Division). I’d like to start using the RC9 Core as a competition weapon in LO Division. For those out there with one, what holster are you using?

RC9 Core

I know this isn’t exactly a fair comparison, but wanted to see how the RC9 Core would perform against my P211 and XC. The RC9 Core doesn’t have a comp, nor is it ported. So could it hold its on? Sorta. In a few areas, it did. I’ll get the ugly out the way: out of the box, there were a lot of failures to feed. I started with 115 grain which resulted in me bumping the back of the gun every other round fired. Second mag I moved to 147 grain. There was a slight improvement. I then moved to 124 grain and the issue disappeared. I expected a burn in of about 200+ rounds. But for this gun it was more like 75 to 100 rounds. The XC is the faster more accurate gun, and the P211 has the softest recoil. The triggers on the XC and RC9 are 🔥 🔥 🔥. I don’t see me becoming a Staccato fanboy, but I have to give it to them, it’s really nice. The cost is better justified if the XC had a better grip. And I admit, the grip isn’t a deal breaker, just an observation and expectation given the cost. I’m all on 2011. Comps, ported, none ported, high end, mid range, etc.

Range Day Showdown

A new XC and any excuse is a great excuse for a range day. I received a call informing me that my XC had arrived at my FFL. We had GORGEOUS Texas weather today, so my wife decided to join me. We initially shot from the least to most expensive. First up, XF Pro vs Canik MC9 Prime. Winner - XF Pro. Second Round, TTi Combat vs Rival. Winner - Rival (not by much). Finally, XP Pro Comp vs P211/GTO vs Staccato XC. I’ve trained with the P211, shot the XP Pro Comp “A LOT” and the XC’s first rounds were shot today. So I believe I’ll share my wife’s assessment first. From her: “The XP Pro Comp/Ported is heavy.” “I like this one (P211) a little more than the other two.” I agree, the XP Pro Comp is heavier than the XC and P211. Her winner: P211. Closely followed by the XC. She didn’t dislike the XP Pro Comp, it just was too heavy for her. My assessment: XP Pro Comp/ported is a very fast shooter. However the P211 and XC are in a different build class (as if there’s a class system in the gun industry). The P211 and XC are very complementary guns. Here’s where the XC slightly wins out. As we shot further out, the XC shot groupings consistently stayed close. Understanding the red dot’s return can’t be properly/verbally explained. It has to be experienced. But if I’m being fair, the average person isn’t shooting beyond the offered 25 yards an indoor range offers. So will that grouping matter to most, probably not. For me, I just love shooting and competing so it’s worth it. Winner for me: XC. OVERALL: Me and Wife: TIE. My RC9 Core gets in next week. Looking forward to adding it to range day and see if our assessments change. I really love the P211 grip and weight over the XC. It’s weird comparing the pros and cons of great guns to get a subjective assessment.

Picked you the Sig 516 G3 today from local Scheels store. I had them add an optic, light, and a front sight. I like the LPVO with a red dot mounted to the side. While the LPVO is nice, the red dot is mounted for a right handed shooter, and I’m left handed. I’ll more than likely replace this set up with the SIG ROMEO8T-AMR and Sig Sauer’s magnifier. I wanted to take it immediately to the range, but we have a tornado warning/watch in the area. The current plan is to use this with my Sig P211 (w/mono block) in competitions. Any critique and feedback would be appreciated. I have a suppressor ordered, and I’ll install a rifle strap tonight. I’m going to also add a Blackout Defense Quantum DTL. No particular reason. Just like them.
