College Students Are Testing at the Level of 10-Year-Olds

Math Journey is software I’ve written to help young students with Math. If you’ve been following my posts I attribute the decline in math competency to calculators in the classroom depriving students from learning process that’s needed later on in school.
In fact I’ve written a book The Optimization of Eden extrapolating the effects of calculators in the classroom to AI and robotics in our lives. The comparison is valid and shocking. Loss of competence is transitioned to loss of purpose.
Purpose is an important part of me and my beliefs which drive me at 75 years of age. My book The Spiral of Return outlines the importance of purpose in my spirituality.
This article then becomes important to me in its call to control the use of technology especially in classrooms.

Cybersecurity: Profession or Money Making Spiral?

I’m reaching out to this community for assistance. I’m a cybersecurity professional turned business owner who understands the frustrations of cybersecurity from both directions. As such I’ve come to determine that a major paradigm shift must occur.

Cybersecurity is costly, ineffective at preventing loss and is overly complex and labour intensive. It’s always a game of catch up via patching. This insight comes from my over 35 years of experience auditing and consulting in this field.

Cybersecurity is counter productive, difficult to work with and frustratingly hard to use especially now with multifactor login requirements. This comes as a user and business owner for over 15 years.

There is only one solution and that is a total redevelopment. A solutions that eliminates or at least minimizes the costs and frustrations.

Turning this field upside down will be a formidable task. It will require support from CEOs such as yourselves who must exert pressure on the industry. Unfortunately your CSIOs are born and bread on the existing architecture. They will not recommend or support this initiative as it will cause them great pain and suffering in having to start over.

The cybersecurity industry doesn’t want this without the absolute need to do it. They’re making money hand over fist easily from this perpetual updating and patching that goes on.

Bad actors must become disenfranchised and this means the battlefield on which cybersecurity operates must change.

AI and Quantum Computing will eventually offer cybersecurity no choice but to change. Better to do this upfront rather than in an emergency situation.

I ask you to come on board and let’s exert pressure on this industry to retool.

Time to Place Your Brain on Steroids

My name is Doug Collins and my collection of books will accelerate your thought process. I’m a math grad with cybersecurity roots and these books reflect that. All have a degree of quantum concepts, each grounded in today’s current events.
The implications of a country achieving the ability to disclose digital secrets.
The implications of innovation taking us to the brink of eliminating purpose.
Discoveries in geometry and their meaning in terms of spirituality.

WW2 Fighter Pilots Reincarnated

My connection to an aircraft. It’s unworldly. My hole life attached to the Spitfire. An unexplored fascination. I’ve met similar individuals. Are we reincarnated downed pilots? I’m thinking so. Any others out there I can connect with please?

AI and Authenticity

Here’s the thing
AI is reshaping us. Yes it’s taking away our jobs and we become angered and threatened. However it will also create new jobs that will be different. This equates to painful change. Yes AI can produce slop as those threatened pronounce.
However it is also capable of much more as we learn to use it effectively and with guardrails to protect our rights.
The reality is it only works with words already written a fact of its very nature.
Words however require context to derive meaning. Some such as myself provide AI with very specific context.
Context is original and creative although the words taken are often from different context.
This insight will eventually be understood as context is used as a guardrail.
Until then I’m exposed to the uninformed who indiscriminately apply the description SLOP.

On Point Yes or No?

The attached is a thread from the ECE Community on early childhood development pertaining to math. Personally I have great concern and great interest in this discussion. As math advocates what are your thoughts please? Am I off in left field on this topic or should more be expected?

15 second Math Test

M + N = 64
M - N = 12
N = ?
Only a basic math understanding is needed to solve this question.

What’s my point?
The skills needed to answer this simple question should be engrained in a child’s mind early in life. Do you believe your chiļd is being equipped with the learning needed to answer this question?

Answer with a simple yes or no response?

If you answered no, please share with me the reason why you answered no.

Something New In Cybersecurity

My second book (Cybersecurity’s Best Defence A Secure Call for All) a part of my series, Cybersecurity Findings, as inherently traditional as in an audit finding, outlines the recommendations for that which is laid out in book one, The New Architecture A Structural Revolution in Cybersecurity.

In my second book, a case is made to alter the so called Battlefield for Cybersecurity. Change of battlefield can turn the tide as is seen presently in Iran. Under attack and outgunned they shifted focus to the Straits of Hormuz and gained strategic advantage. So to can be the case for Cybersecurity in its expensive and relentless confrontation with Bad Actors. This confrontation has gone on for decades and never gets any easier. In fact it’s about to become much more difficult with the advent of both AI and Quantum computing.

In my book a new battlefield is described and one on which the good guys gain strategic advantage over bad actors once and for all. Don’t get me wrong it comes at significant cost. However in comparison to the cost of continuing status quo both in terms of defences and losses the cost is justifiable. Not to let the cat out of the bag, but for the old timers like me, the glass enclosure surrounding computing resources is about to reemerge as a second coming in modern day context.

Jumping Off the Cybersecurity Spiral Transitioning Spend to ROI

The CEO and Achievement Stepping Out Hand in Hand

Finally a solution to the Cybersecurity cost spiral you face. An escape from the ever increasing and ongoing dollars spent on defence and fraud losses in your digital environments. This situation must stop and now a move only you can make to end this spending once and for all. Yes there’s an investment required however now instead of ongoing expense there’s ongoing ROI at the end of this tunnel. You can’t afford to ignore this paradigm shift in Cybersecurity. This move is to a new battlefield, one that gives you the upper hand. Read the book, ask the questions and get this ball rolling before you’re consumed by AI and quantum computing’s ill effects on cybersecurity.

I have worked in cybersecurity for over 35 years, across various companies, and across continents. It burnt me out. This provided me with an opportunity to experience it as a business owner from the users side of the equation. Quite frankly this experience was a horror story and shone a light as to why the people problem of cybersecurity will never get resolved without a major shift in approach. I’m a people and I’m totally frustrated by Cybersecurity. Believe me I’m one of a very few with perspective on this situation. A practitioner, a user, a business leader all in one. Please pay attention.

In fact I’ve established an audit finding, over a year spent contemplating and formulating, in the form of a series of stories. Entertaining to read but with a very important hidden message within. One which CEOs must comprehend to move forward with Cybersecurity. Search on Amazon under my name and cybersecurity to discover more.

Visit dougcollins.com, EDDITS.ca or mathjourney.ca all my doing and my quest to give back after 75 years of existence, 3/4 of a century. Not a ploy, or a trick but genuine concern in areas in which I’ve spent my life. These areas, cybersecurity, math learning for children and small business adoption of more secure operating environments are all key areas requiring improvement. What excites me the most is my ability to reach out globally and fulfill a purpose worthy of societal fulfillment. Yes AI had a role in my achievements, why not I’m a technology guy. As such I understood the role it played, which unlike on an open field was but rather on the gridiron, with guardrails, out of bounds, yard markers, end zones and rules of engagement. I wasn’t lazy, I was smart. I wasn’t plagiarizing, I was using a tool effectively. One and a half years of effort, investment and achievement by my team, you be the judge of my originality, of its value. Thank you.

“The Optimization of Eden: Colonization Journey” By Doug Collins - Science Fiction/Fantasy/Adventure

In a recent radio broadcast on my literature I was asked what sets me apart from other authors. My response was that the focus of my writing mainly falls within the realm of our quantum future. The new emergence which I believe will dominate the 2st century. We’re presently on the cusp of its influences on our technology, society, geopolitics, and even spiritual beliefs. I write about all of this in my books. I classify my books as early 21st century fiction that will become late 21st century realism.
