For anyone wanting a good youth rifle, skip the name brands and get one of these sweet little single shot rifles that actually are wood and steel.

I shot 3 cartridges. 6 shots each, with cool down after 3 shots, and rotating. 100 yard data listed.
This is purely to help anyone out that buys one.
I have a 5 port muzzle brake from Tikka, and a Backstop recoil pad, otherwise no modifications.
Hornady American Whitetail 139g Avg. speed of 2747 fps. Best group .56”
Norma Whitetail 150g Avg. speed of 2647 fps. Best group 1”
Hornady Superformance 139g Avg. speed of 2884 fps. Best group 0.48”
I think I see a winner in the Superformance, although any of the 3 will hit a deer.
The Superformance shoots about 1.5” higher than the other two and .4” to the right.
I hope this info can help someone!
I recently re watched this episode. i think it did pretty good job and cannot think of another sitcom that addressed such an issue.
I went through a similar deal last season with my 15 year old during youth season, where he got to the deer and it was still alive.
It tore him up having to finish the job up close.
Afterwards, I gave him the job of setting down the blind and packing up to distract while I dealt with deer.
While we were deboning it the next day, he was more determined than ever to get every last bit of meat.
He really understood in that moment the sacrifice, and was not going to forget it.

Which will you choose?
God bless all involved.
Been building a nice collection and absolutely love how adding leather adds to the final product.

Quantum Rippin Reel.
They made two other gear ratios and sold them as “cranking” and “pitching” as I recall.
I see this one is Japan made.
It is also interesting that Brunswick is the maker.
It is a thrift store Loomis and an Abu Garcia Black Max 3600 that I bought and rarely used.
Spooled it up with some braid after taking apart and lubricating.
Seems to cast pretty well!
I am going to use it next time.
Here are the photos of my Henry rifles.

My first was a fork buck with a muzzleloader.
Stayed in Minnewaukan and fished the west bay.
First time doing anything other than washing it.
A few deeper scratches remain but hey, it isn’t new anymore.
I used turtle polishing compound followed by turtle wax.
Always so fun on UL and 4lb line to catch these guys!
Just under 19” so probably around 4 pounds?
Tight lines!
