How long does a HIV RNA test through std check usually take to come back? I got the test done Wednesday and it’s now Saturday which scares me! Usually when I do a HIV rna test I get it back within 1-2 days but the fact I’m on day 3 is concerning me. I’ve completed pep and now am in the testing phase. Has anyone had to wait a few days for their rna result to come back? My 4th generation test came back negative day 9 post pep but scared my rna may come back positive

Started pep after possible exposure. Starter 36 hours and took my pills at the same time every single day.
About day 8/9 on pep I started to get a mild sore throat and my sore throat lasted the entirety of pep and has still lasted. I don’t have any congestion it’s just like my throat has a mild burning sensation and sometimes it hurts when I talk. I’m scared this is HIV. Has anyone ever experienced this? And then I also had a couple of tongue ulcers while on pep.

I took a 4th gen and HIV rna the day I finished pep and it came back negative. I decided to get tested again today and do a RNA test which is about 5 weeks post exposure and a few days after pep completion

I started pep 36 hours after possible exposure. I had oral sex with 2 other guys and I don’t know their status. One sucked my dick and rimmed me and I sucked the other guys dick and he sucked mine. I completed pep perfectly. I took a couple of HIV RNA test while on pep because I was scared I was seroconverting.
I took a test on day 12,19 and day 30 of pep and all the hiv rna test were negative.

My last test was done Monday which was the last day of pep. My anxiety has been bad and part of me wants to get a test done tomorrow. This will be 3 days post pep or should I just wait to take a test in a couple of weeks? The anxiety has been a lot for me

My anxiety has been through the roof since the beginning and I’m scared all the flu like symptoms will begin now. Started pep 36 hours after possible exposure from oral sex with 2 other guys. Haven’t really had any side effects but have had a sore throat on and off for majority of pep

I feel like it’s too late for me. I’m on day 22 of pep. Started 36 hours after a possible exposure. For the past 2 weeks I have had dry mouth/ sore throat that has been on and off. Today I woke up with an ulcer on my tongue. I know these symptoms can be anything but I can’t help but think they are related to HIV. I did a HIV RNA test while ON PEP day 12 and 19 and everything came back negative and I know it doesn’t count but wouldn’t the test be able to pick up the virus if it was causing these symptoms?

Well I am entering my last week of taking pep. 7 more pills to go. It’s honestly been one of the most anxiety filled depressing months of my life. I’ve taken 2 HIV RNA test (on day 12 and 19) while on pep, and even though I know they don’t count they have both come back negative. I started pep around 36 hours after possible exposure. The exposure was oral sex with 2 other guys and I know yall will read this and dismiss what I am going to say but this whole situation opened my eyes up to sexual health and I pray my results will be negative so I can start prep. Pep hasn’t been bad, the only thing that has scared me is I have had a sore throat for about 2 weeks now that has gotten better but it is still sore so I am worried this is HIV happening but the symptoms aren’t as strong bc I am on medication. I’m scared I will start showing flu like symptoms the day I finish pep. If you have been in a similar situation please give me some encouragement or any advice as I go into my last week of taking pep.

Hello all, I am on pep day 20 and started 36 hours after a possible exposure. I got a HIV RNA and 4th generation test done 2 days ago bc my anxiety was so bad. My 4th generation came back negative but I’m waiting for my RNA to come back which it hasn’t yet. Whats the likely hood it will come back positive? My HIV rna ? I also got a HIV RNA done on day 12 of pep and it was negative. I know none of these test are conclusive but my anxiety has been so bad through out this process.

For the people who took pep, how did you get through the waiting period? It’s like each day all I think about is pep and if it’s working and if my results will be negative or positive and it’s driving my crazy, I’m almost done with my pep regimen but I’m so scared to start testing because now it really feels real.

Starting to feel defeated as I am towards the end of my pep regimen. Is seroconversion possible while on pep? I’ve had a sore throat for about a week and some days now and i can’t help but think it’s due to HIV. I got a HIV RNA test done while on pep and it was negative but that was last week and I know it doesn’t count for much. I will finish my pep next week but I feel defeated as this sore throat has persisted for about 10 days and my neck feels tender.

About 10 days ago I had oral sex with 2 guys and their hiv status is unknown. My throat is starting to feel sore and I think I may be having some congestion. I am on day 10 of pep (started 36 hours after possible exposure) but I feel like it won’t work for me. All I can think about is those results saying I am positive. I started pep about 36 hours after oral sex with 2 other guys. I’m a male. All we did was oral. I don’t know their status but I got on pep to be safe but I am reading that it’s most effective before 24 hours. I’m on day 7 of pep. Are my chances ruined? I was washing my hands and a few mins later my bottle fell into the sink. None of my medication got wet and the lid was on but the bottle maybe had a little soap on it that I wiped off immediately. I checked the container and all the pills look dry but I’m scared what if the pills don’t work anymore? Does this warrant getting another prescription? Like I said the lid was on when they fell into the sink and none of the pills fell out of the container.
