Reekon digital readout tape measure

Reekon sent me a freebie to try out of their digital read out tape measure. It's pretty cool! I am a millwright and we do pipe fitting and I used it recently on a job

The good - super smooth action. Tape flies right out. It has an auto lock or lock open feature. The readout is very bright. Uses a regular usb type c. You have all the units you could want for the display even tho I requested the inch only tape itself. It has a very high quality feel to it. The tape is bright and easy to read manually. It has a feature for the display to automatically subtract the length of the body for inside dimensions. It's very accurate.

The bad - it is pretty heavy and it's 5-3/4" long. I probably would not hang it from my hip. It's awkward to hold and gets some getting used too. It only had a 7' standout. It breaks right about 8' and before that it had a long bow. For pipe fitting this is difficult because I put my hangers ten feet apart. The digital readout works if you're always measuring at the tape body. I found myself eventually just using it like a traditional tape measure. Also at any real distance beyond 3 or 4 feet you have to help the tape retract.

Overall it's a sweet novelty. It would stand up as an everyday tape. It also depends on the style in which you use a tape. I feel it would be best for layout guys in the carpentry and sheet metal shops that work on a bench instead of how I use it fifteen feet in the air. I used it to figure out the inside dimensions of a tool box and cut a bunch of drawer mats perfectly. I'm not sure the price but I would recommend anyone to give it a try.

What to do with old tools I'll never use

I have some half socket sets and hammers I've somehow inherited over the years. I don't have space for them. I feel bad tossing them but I don't know who would want this stuff? It's like old husky sockets. Recycle them?

When did we switch state abbreviations for mailed letters?

I don't know but I just remember we went from learning to write Mass on our letters in elementary school to writing MA by the time high school ended. I kinda liked the longer abbreviations.

I see this everyday on Main st

I live close by bushnell and I see people driving in the bike lane everyday. I ask the city why don't they put a jersey barrier in front of the turn only lane that if you don't turn you drive in the bike lane. They said they didn't know it was a problem.

Father day gift

Ever since the Davey interview I've had a resurge of interest in the albums after December Underground and I have taking a big liking to Bodies. So my fiancée picked me up the Bodies CD to go with my CD and tape collection of AFI. They ended up sending the alternate but it's cool it has a patch in it. I actually didn't like much after they left Nitro and bought those first two because I was a fan.

What kind of floor tile would be in a power plant?

I've visited a few power plants in our area and they have this heavy duty brown tile that has a good grip to it. It looks like 6x6 and has a massive 1/2" wide grout. I would like something similar for my workshop. Would this be a specialized distributor or any tile distributor ?

Does someone have a picture of today's paper?

Because I don't think this is really it 😆. Before purchasing a puppy out of state I asked for a picture of today's date and the animal. This is what they sent me.

Edit I know it's AI. Sorry for the confusion. I just wanted to reply to the email with the real paper.

Tal vez Home Depot?

Why do so many have a hard on for old hard handles

According to Snapon and Google your palm is not a square it's a triangle it's the whole reason why Snapon changed the shape to that. Yes I get it was also marketing and a way to throw away your perfectly good screwdrivers for new ones too lol. But they couldve reinvented square ones too. I feel the old hard handle was really only efficient for pry bars and ratchets that don't normally require twisting. I don't find them more comfortable for screwdrivers. Is it nostalgia and people's unwillingness to change?
