Korra Is Legitimately A Bigger Fraud Then Potential Man

  1. Inherited a world of peace and order from quite possibly the greatest Avatar ever.
  2. Was a prodigy who learned three elements by the age of 5.
  3. Trained with the greatest teachers in the world, including Aang’s own son.
  4. She had consistent support from several major world leaders.
  5. Had 10,000 years of skill, experience, and guidance from previous Avatars

And she managed to:

  1. Lose repeatedly to a man who wasn’t even using bending most of the time.
  2. Lose connection to all pass Avatars in a fight where she had every possible advantage (including all the skills, experience, and memories of the first Avatars who beat this same bad guy on hard mode).
  3. Left the spirit portals open, despite knowing the danger, which caused mass catastrophe before dipping and refusing to resolve the issue.
  4. Got her butt handed to her by a guy who had just become an airbender like a week ago.
  5. Somehow messed so badly that she plunged the world into an apocalypse where many people don’t even know who the Avatar is anymore

[Insert Woman’s Romance Novel Joke Here]

I get this response a lot whenever I criticize how shonen manga handle romance and I just wanted to respond. No, the romance being written by a woman for young girls does not automatically make it amazing. Quite frankly, they are often even worse in my opinion.

I am so sick of every romance anime having this set-up

Honest question, how does the Japanese audience not feel somewhat insulted that their self-insert protagonists are always depicted as socially awkward losers with no friends, no special skills, and only care about video games?

(Funny Trope) When I’m in a Character Slander Competition and My Opponent is the Official Source Material

For characters who just got done so dirty by their series that you can only laugh. Not necessarily, unhappy endings, but more so it feels like the entire writing staff conspired against them to ruin their image.

(Spoilers)

Megumi Fushiguro (JJK): The face of slander. Lost every important fight, tried to kamikaze himself multiple times and failed all of them got, bodysnatched by the final boss and had to be saved, and literally dies off screen with no explanation before the sequel.

Avatar Korra (The Legend of Korra): She already a controversial character for a number of reasons: lost connection to all previous Avatars, left the Spirit portals open, etc. But then the writers decided that wasn’t enough and made it so that the world somehow was plunged into an apocalypse during her time as Avatar, undoing pretty much all Aang did to secure world peace.
