Famous Monsters #1

Not technically a comic book but adjacent in its collectibility. I grabbed this low grade Famous Monsters #1. It’s seen better days. The cover is quite worn with a big chunk missing. Trying to decide if there’s a way to restore it or just keep it as is. The inside pages are in excellent condition.

How do you get the musty smell out of old Comic Books?

Hi folks!

On my recent journey in collecting the old EC pre-code comics I have finally run into that thing you cannot screen for when buying online. Oh yes. That head achy, pungent and insidious musty odor. I don’t mind the old paper smell but these are way extra. I've been looking online and am now coming to you all to share what your best techniques have been. Is it kitty litter? Ozonater? Baking Soda? Ideally I'm hoping not to spending tons of money on expensive gadgets to rid these otherwise great old of books of that nasty smell.

Scored 2 more Vault of Horror comicw!

#29 in great shape and #24 reader copy. One can have a worse mid life crisis. Some buy sports cars. I buy golden age horror and sci-fi ephemera. Still haven't nabbed any Tales from the Crypt, Haunt of Fear or Crime Suspenstories. Holding out and saving my funds to find some keys that were used to adapt the HBO show. I'm looking at you Vault of Horror #35.

Picked up some fun old underground comix, mostly 1st printings.

Fun reads by the San Francisco artists like R. Crumb, Victor Moscoso, Rick Griffin, etc.

Golden Age Marvel with cover detatched

Hi folks. Newer collector here. I've got a 1950 Marvel Tales in otherwise really nice shape. But the cover has come detached. Is there a way to elegantly reattach this? With cover attached it would possibly have been a grade 6.0. Curious if it would be a waste to grade with detached cover. I've also got a few other various rarities like Famous Monsters #1 with a chunk of the cover torn off but high grade interior, 2 Astounding Science Fiction August 1938 - 1 with cover detached but otherwise solid and one with tape along the spine and would have probably been a high grade had that not been done. Curious what if anything I could/should do and why or why not.

Debating buying Pink Floyd The Wall Animation Cels.

Can anyone recommend what a good price for a complete setup of prominent scenes from The Wall would be? I’m shopping around and have limited funds but have seen some pretty ones.

My 1994 Division Bell (last American date ever) giant tour poster variant may be extremely rare. Can't find it anywhere online or in the archive.

I still have the original 40"x60" Division Bell tour poster I purchase on July 18, 1994 at Giant's Stadium when I saw them for the first and last time. It has the classic album cover art however my specific one has a photo of the dome Stage superimposed at the border and references Pink Floyd Division Bell Live. I actually got this off the wall of Giants stadium while walking out at the end of the show as all of the merch was sold out but for the display poster. The one pictured here is similar but lacks that inset stage. There is no apparent record of this anywhere I can find. Anyone else out there have that poster?

It's currently in storage but I'll snap a photo of it later.

Weird Spray Paint smell all over St Johns off Willamette

Was just on an evening walk and began to smell a very strong exhaust type smell that reminded me of spray paint fumes. I road a bike several blocks and it stretched at least as far as Lombard in a directions. Haven’t seen any reports though.

Brad Dourif should be in future Exorcist sequels

I know Exorcist 3 doesn’t get much attention these days. But one can argue it’s the one sequel to the original that isn’t a total disaster. Not only this but it was directed by William Peter Blatty giving it at least a bit more integrity. Brad Dourif, probably one of the most underrated actors of his generation was fantastic in that film and I could see a sequel somehow pulling from his character in Exorcist 3.

Art Insurance for Private collectors that aren’t HNW

Hello

I have several valuable pieces of art that should be insured. I am trying to find a high quality insurance policy but not having luck navigating companies that deal with private collectors of average net worth. Can someone recommend avenues to secure quality fine art insurance? Two of the pieces together are valued around 15k and might be lent out for exhibition in the future.

Thanks

Tales From the Crypt

Hi folks. After they canceled Joe Bob, I basically only kept shutter because they added Tales from the Crypt the original series. But is it just me or does the sound seem compressed? I’ve watched it on my laptop on my phone on my headphones and on my TV with my Bose speakers. And it sounds tinny. Am I nuts?
