Current best option for getting dropped off at LAX?

Getting dropped off at LAX tomorrow morning around 7-7:30.

What's currently the best/easiest for the driver who's dropping us off? I don't fly too often, and know that they have a remote lot. I'm not not sure if that would be any easier to get dropped off at and us take a shuttle, or just bite the bullet and get in the horse shoe and hope for the best? If we do take the horse shoe, we'd probably go to the arrivals level and get dropped off there if there's crazy traffic.

Thanks

Recommendations for in-home pet euthanasia?

Looking for recommendations from anyone who's had to use this service recently. After 14 years, we're having to make a difficult decision with our girl. We're in Fullerton.

If you've used someone, what was included? What was the approximate cost?

Thank you

edit: Thanks for all of the replies. I've heard a lot of good things about Lap of Love both in this thread and on several others, and that's who my wife had found before I asked here. I'm going to talk to them, as well as a few others that were mentioned here, and Honor Pet since they also offer the service and from what I'm reading are the ones who typically will do the cremation for the other vets who offer in-home services.

Thanks again

Old A/C system keeps blowing a fuse after an extended run time

We just moved into a house with an extremely old A/C system, the schematic on the service panel shows a 1987 build date. Despite it's age, the system looks like it's been maintained fairly well. I can't find the model # anywhere, but it's a Janitrol made by Goodman in 1987ish. From what I'm finding online, the 40/5 capacitor is probably correct, but I'm not 100% positive on that.

Anyways, it runs fine, but after running for 12+ hours it will blow one of the two plug fuses in the disconnect box and shut itself down. I haven't been able to see the exact timing of this, but it seems like it keeps happening around early afternoon as we're reaching the hottest part of the day. Ambient temps have been high 80s/low 90s.

Also to add, the disconnect box that contains the fuse that keeps blowing faces the sun in the morning, and is covered in dark stucco, so there's a good chance it is building up a decent amount of heat early in the day before it blows the fuse.

Here's what I've tried:

  • Replaced the fuses with new T30A fuses twice, it did this same behavior both times
  • Tested the capacitor. It looks brand new, and the capacitance of both the herm and fan terminals was almost exactly where it should be
  • I tested all of the terminals on the contactor, they were all very tight
  • I tested the terminals on the disconnect box, these were mostly tight, but I was able to tighten a few of the terminals by probably 1/16th of a rotation.
  • The terminals in both the disconnect box and the contactor plate all look like they are in decent condition, no obvious corrosion or pitting

I don't want to keep just throwing fuses at this, but I'd also like to fix the existing system without requiring a whole new one for now. I realize this thing will likely die completely in the near future, but I'd like to keep using it for the short term if there's any life left in it. When it's running, it does cool.

My questions:

  1. Will the slight tightening of the terminals in the disconnect box be enough to reduce resistance, and keep the fuse from blowing?
  2. I"m reading that heat might be causing the fuse to fail without actually blowing the fuse. Is this plausible? I don't see burns or scorches inside the blown fuse. Would a combination of heat from being directly in the sun and resistance from slightly loose terminals in the disconnect box be enough to cause the fuse to fail?
  3. If the sun hitting the disconnect box is an issue, would putting something to shade it in the morning help?
  4. Any other obvious things to check that a non-pro could look at here before calling a tech?

Here's some photos of the disconnect box, capacitor, contactor plate, blown fuse and the readings from testing the capacitor.

2020 with 100k miles, cleaned the throttle body intake and holy crap did that make a difference

I thought I was having transmission issues. It really felt like when I was accelerating from a stop the van would hesitate for a second like the transmission was slipping then catching. It was really bad if you slowed down, didn't come to a stop, then accelerated again. Like if you slowed down to go over a dip then accelerated, it was really rough.

I got an oil change on Friday, they recommended cleaning the TBI. I declined the service and just did it myself. Took less than half an hour, and the van now feels perfect when accelerating. Idling is incredibly smooth now as well.

The issue was not a slipping transmission like I thought, it was the throttle body sticking, and the engine kind of surging when I accelerated.

Smoke smell in Fullerton

Woke up to my house smelling like acrid smoke. Where's the fire? It didn't have the smell that forest or brush fires have, it was more chemical smelling.

IKEA twin bunk bed

Pretty good condition. Grey. Includes all hardware. Is disassembled. Does not include mattresses or bunky boards.

Please comment on here if you send me a DM, I don't always see those.

Would love to have it picked up today.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark was released 45 years ago, today

If you were born in 1980, The Wizard of Oz was released 41 years before you were born.

A child born today is farther away from the release of the original Indiana Jones movie than your birthday was away from the release of The Wizard of Oz.

You're welcome.

Timing belt replacement question

I've got a 2020 Odyssey with roughly 97,000 miles on it. It's currently having some warranty work done on it, including replacing the timing belt tensioner. The dealer offered to do the entire timing belt/water pump service for $1,100 while they're doing the tensioner since a lot of the labor is being covered by the extended warranty.

Would I be stupid to skip this?

McDonald's app won't let you stay logged in now if you've disabled ad tracking

This isn't location tracking, this is ad tracking.

If you've requested that they not track you for advertising, they will force you to log back in every time you use the app.

Thanks I guess for finally nudging me to not grab a quick breakfast there any more?

In Rider, how do I set the SQL formatting options so that variable declarations are not split onto two lines?

When I format the document, it will format

DECLARE @testVariable INT;

to

DECLARE
@testVariable INT;

How do I keep this on the same line with formatting? I've been playing with all of the options in Settings > Editor > Code Style > SQL > General, but none of these settings are affecting variable declaration.

Googling has turned up nothing on this that I can find, and their AI keeps hallucinating settings that just don't exist to disable it.

I'm currently on JetBrains Rider 2026.1.1 Build #RD-261.23567.144, built on April 23, 2026

Just moved into a new place a few weeks ago. A few days ago, the valve on our shower started leaking pretty badly. I replaced the cartridge, but it is still leaking the same.

The leak looks like it's not coming from the cartridge, but behind it, and the water is coming out below where the cartridge screws into.

What do I need to look at next? Is this a fairly common fix that the local hardware store will have parts for; I know Hansgrohe is a nicer brand that doesn't seem to be carried by most of the big box stores.
