35 years ago the cargo ship Vlore sailed from Valona carrying 20k Albanian refugees to the Italian port of Bari, an unprecedented mass arrival that caught Italian authorities unaware. The event was connected with the fall of the Communist regime in Albania, the most isolationist in the Eastern bloc.
On 2nd August 1980, a bomb planted at Bologna Centrale railway station in Bologna, Italy by far right terrorists killed 85 people and injured more than 200. Members of NAR, an Italian neofascist group, were convicted of murder and other charges connected to the bombing.
