Ravenscraig Castle, also known as the Craig of Inverugie, is a ruined 15th-century (perhaps earlier) L-shaped tower-house located two miles north-west of Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

This is a proper ruin. No well-worn paths to it and cans of energy drink in the darker corners. You feel like Hiram Bingham when you explore this place. I took these photos today.

There's another Scottish castle called Ravenscraig, located in Fife. It's also worth a visit, but a bit less fun.

This quirky 1812 castellated building features eccentric exterior stairs, independent upper and lower floor access, and a history as a mason's showcase.

Hallforest Castle is a keep, one of the oldest in Scotland. The castle is believed to have been built by Robert the Bruce as a hunting lodge; he is said to have granted it to Robert II Keith, Marischal of Scotland, the predecessor of the Earls of Kintore. Mary, Queen of Scots visited Hallforrest in 1562.
