Today I realized

We visited India for the first time as husband and wife, and it really opened my eyes to how entitled some in-laws can be. When I visited as their DIL, my MIL barely lifted a finger for me no special treatment, not even a small gift or thoughtful gesture. Meanwhile, my mom was giving my husband full-on son-in-law treatment 24/7. Even though she was exhausted, she took care of him, gifted him clothes, and packed so many things for us to bring back home
By the end of the trip, my mom was so tired she couldn’t even come to the airport to say goodbye. But my super-active, entitled MIL happily showed up at the airport to take pictures as if that was some grand gesture without even bringing a simple packet of sweets. The difference in effort was honestly eye opening. I swear, I never want to visit India with my husband again

I’m at cross roads

recently spent three weeks with my family, and my mom really wanted me to stay longer. After coming back home, I feel guilty because part of me also feels relieved to be back in my own routine. It makes me wonder why I can’t simply adjust and stay with my parents for their sake, especially as they’re getting older. I genuinely want to spend more time with them, and I’ve been thinking about moving to India for a year or two.
My biggest concern is my kids education. He’ll be entering 4th grade next year. I’m considering enrolling him in a good school in Hyderabad for 4th and possibly 5th grade, and then moving back to the U.S. before he starts middle school. Is this realistically feasible? Which type of school or curriculum in Hyderabad would make his eventual transition back to the U.S. easier? Would spending one or two elementary-school years in India benefit him socially and culturally, or could the change in curriculum and then moving back make things difficult for him academically or emotionally

Help me give my husband the best Hyderabadi biryani experience

He’s craving authentic Hyderabadi chicken biryani with mutton curry, and I want to take him to a place that serves amazing food with great ambience and good hygiene. Please suggest your top recommendations. Looking for places where both the biryani and mutton curry are worth trying

May be it’s me

I went to Verandah last night and came back pretty disappointed.
To make matters worse, I had a scary Uber ride on the way there. The driver kept saying his internet was slow and Google Maps wasn’t loading properly. For a moment, I genuinely thought about getting out of the cab, but since I was only about two minutes away from my destination, I just stayed and thankfully reached safely. As for Verandah, we ordered the Mexican cheese balls, fried chicken, and a shake. Honestly, none of it stood out. The food was just average, and the shake wasn’t worth ordering either. Considering all the hype, I expected much betterWas it just a bad choice of dishes, or has Verandah’s quality gone downhill lately

Help me out

I bought a few sarees from Poojitha Handlooms for around ₹3,000 each. Is that a reasonable price, or did I overpay? I know I’ve already bought them, so I can’t change it now.I’m just asking for awareness so I know for future shopping

Please suggest

I will be visiting hyderabad for a short break and looking recommendations for:
A bakery with really tasty veg puffs? (VACS used to be my favorite.)
Great chaat and pav bhaji (something like Maharaja Chaat).
Cozy cafés that serve good coffee, matcha, and delicious pasta.
Would love to hear your favorites!

Am I delusional .Parents Please advice

I’m considering temporarily moving to Hyderabad from usa and enrolling my elementary-school-aged son in a school near my parents’ place. The main reason isn’t work or finances—it’s my child.
Right now, the only friends he really has are from school. He misses having meaningful social interactions outside of school. We threw him a birthday party and invited all of his classmates, but unfortunately, we haven’t received invitations in return for various reasons. It made me realize how limited his social circle is.
I’m wondering if living in Hyderabad might give him more opportunities to build close friendships, spend time with kids outside school, and experience a stronger sense of community
Do you think this is a realistic expectation, or am I being overly optimistic?
