A rand and five pence (and bonus coins my parents found)

Found these two coins at a Coinstar I don’t ever find anything in. I also introduced my folks to Coinstar hunting, and they’ve had some luck back home)! Hope everyone’s been having a good Semiquincentennial weekend

These two coins shattered my hopes and dreams

1973 Canada dime and 1987 Barbados 10 cents. I edge hunt as my first step before looking through every coin, and these popped out in separate rolls. I guess the silver lining (heh) is that I didn’t have either of these in the misc. world part of my collection.

Bought because it has a NICE grade

And because the design is significant to me and it was only a couple of bucks above melt at the time! First slab too.

Does this have any errors/worth anything?

Just found this in my purse and it looked special…I have absolutely no idea about coin value lol

Wake up, sheeple! Don’t let Big Penny fool you: 2025 WAS NOT the last year they minted pennies!

I’ve been hunting for my first 2025 penny in change/Coinstars, and I finally got one today. Turns out they still mint proof pennies. The magic has died.

Anyone doing CRH in NoVA?

I inquired at my local branch, and they said that because they “order from federal,” the rolls they would get would be uncirculated and thus not recommended for coin collectors/stackers. Anyone in Northern Virginia willing to share where to get rolls of halves?

Rim cud on 1926 SLQ?

A few months ago when I got this, it was in the error section of the dealer’s binder, but when I asked about what error this coin exhibited, he was unsure and said that sometimes things get misplaced in his binders.

Edit: suspected cud is on date

Skunked again yet still determined!

$110 in quarters and dimes—some from Loomis rolls, which I received for the first time from my bank branches. There were more 1965 dimes and probably more quarters, but I decided midway to set aside the 1965s for a photo. On the plus side, I’m two states away from completing a full 50-state quarter roll to fill in the quarter map my parents will be bringing with them for a visit next month—if they can find it. Also got a 6-claw Alaska quarter (extraordinarily common I know); DC, Puerto Rico, and Samoa quarters; and possibly my first misaligned-die quarter.

On Friday, I’ll probably place my first order for a box of halves. Hope everyone has a good week ahead!

Today’s humble score after hitting up like 7 Coinstars on the way home

On the very last one I checked! Same kiosk I got my first Bermudan coin too so I wonder if it was the same person. This is also the first 1 euro cent coin in my collection! 15 cents in spendable too. The silver hunt continues!

They were probably handing these out when they signed the Declaration of Independence

Got this months ago well before the coin-collecting obsession took hold

Bought the silver dip yesterday at my LCS: my first ASE (and W mint mark), Morgan, and Barber half!

The Barber is likely cleaned, but out of the whole stack, it had the least amount of wear on it

Went to my first local coin club meeting, which ended up being a member-run coin show!

Got a handful of world coins from Ukraine, France, the Philippines, and Jordan. The one from Jordan was supposed to be a buck, but when I pulled out my bill to pay, the dealer said something to the effect of “This one’s on me. Welcome back to the hobby.” Loved it so much that I paid my dues right there and became a member!

Success after checking out my local coin club’s member-run coin show!

I did some Coinstar hunting after my very first event held by my local coin club: a small coin show! I loved it so much that I bought a few coins and even became a member. One of the members even gave me a Jordanian dinar coin for free welcoming me back into the hobby (included as bonus pics)!

First time scoring Mexican pesos and an Austrian €2. I also got neat exonumia in the form of a modern Chuck E. Cheese token and a parking token. All found in the reject tray from one of the five kiosks I hit up on the way home from the coin show.

Is this tape toning?

My folks sent a care package, which included some coins from my childhood collection. Among the three 40% silver JFK halves is one with some toning. To me, the shape on the obverse sorta looks like tape?
