I’m amazed that Midnight Cowboy never had a sequel. It would be fascinating to see how Beck transitions from his New York role to a role in 70’s Miami Beach. Wild he be able to break away from being a male sex worker ? Would he be able to become the male jigaloo he originally aimed to be when he left to New York or would he be able to transition to a healthier life that he originally imagined? He’s an interesting character and it would be neat to see how he progressed.

I believe that one ought to be able to bring their practice into the everyday, that’s the purpose of practice, and I don’t believe that a hermit/monk life is the correct path for many, including myself.

What does living your practice look like to you? In the family setting, work/corporate setting, community setting. What are your thoughts as you sit at dinner with your family, manage people at your workplace, engage with clients/customers, walk through your neighborhood?
I find there are expectations placed upon us- to communicate, engage certain ways, how do you apply your practice to these expectations?

I was at LBTS the other day and saw the pier has still not been repaired. After some digging, I see that the owners are currently working through the process of bids/permits.
It struck me that it would be great if they redid the pier as a snorkel/dive platform. Put some stairs and platforms at the end of the pier , and charge for people to use the pier as a launch point to snorkel/dive the reefs.
How cool would it be to have such a unique, one of a kind, pier at the beach dive capital?

I’m starting to consider a thru hike of big cypress to Okeechobee for next season. I’ve done a bunch of day hikes in big cypress, basically any of the trails off of alligator alley, but have never done an over night. What’s a good resource for required supplies and possibly meeting people so it’s not a solo. Is five days a good table to make it up to Okeechobee from the southern start of the trail?

Here’s a follow up to my previous post about 20/3/8.
Is it better to purchase a beater that comes with higher costs of ownership (repairs and insurance) and lower safety vs higher down payments and longer terms to reduce total costs of ownership and increase quality and safety?
I don’t think it’s debatable that a beater car with older technology is less safe for teen drivers. Insurance company’s agree and I’m sure the math backs them up.
Maybe I’m an outlier since I live in an area with high amount of traffic accidents and mortality’s.

I just went through the process of purchasing a car for two of my children and still paying off a car for my wife. The 20/3/8 rule can not work in this situation. If I put 20% down on a $20k used car , and financed it for three years, my monthly payment would be $636. Multiply this by three cars and I’m at $1800/month, requiring a monthly salary of $22k
Can you argue that I shouldn’t own four cars? Of course. But that’s the reality of a life in the American suburbs. So I have financed my cars out much further and put down larger down payments to try to make these three car payments a total of 8% of my monthly income.

What’s your go to for a quick pizza by the slice?

We spent the afternoon in Flagler village and ate at Mister 01 Pizza. They have unique flavor combinations and are reasonably priced. Got the Claudio for $22. It’s burrata cheese sprinkled with truffle oil on a crisp thin dough. We also stopped by sweet melody ice cream for a quick dessert. Butter pecan and bourbon, Great ice cream. There was also a fun plant swap going on at Lazer Wolf.
I hadn’t been in that area for a while and Flagler is really coming together. Next I want to hit up Heritage, but I check reservations same day and it looks like I need to plan more in advance.

I am currently in Fort Lauderdale on vacation looking to have a delicious ribeye tonight, but would prefer a casual spot. Any suggestions? Open to going to Las Olas area
