Nexus Experience ROM for P1010 - Work in progress, and our team's introduction!

Hello! My name is Neptune, I am the tester for Nexus Experience Team.

We are a new ROM creating group, originally made by P1010mod (Ozgur) on March to make a ROM for the P1010, it went EOL on around May, but me and him have right after started to redo it by ourselves!

So, the ROM is based on Android 4.4.4, and it is more of a port from a Galaxy SL ROM by dhiru1602 based on CyanogenMod 11. We are exploring lots, but LOTS of methods on how to work this out, such as SD Card booting, fstab modding, and etcetera, and we think we have some actual sort of chance of success by following our plan!

Welp, with that being said, Nexus Experience is NOT an easy project, we atleast attempt to revive old devices by making ROMs for them, even if they're Android 4.4.4 ROMs, Android 4.4.4 is still somewhat usable in 2026 thanks to the Android community.

Well, this is basically our team's introduction to the ROM development community, hello people!

Nexus Experience Team - Our introduction to the Android ROMming community!

Hello! My name is Neptune, I am the tester and ROM maintainer for Nexus Experience Team.

We are a new ROM creating group, and we want to introduce ourselves! The group was originally made by P1010mod (Ozgur) on March to make an ICS ROM for the P1010, but it went EOL on around May due to fails, but at one point I, Neptune became his friend, and right after, I got hired for Nexus Experience and we started to redo it by ourselves!

So, this new ROM is based on Android 4.4.4, and it is more of a port from a Galaxy SL ROM by dhiru1602 based on CyanogenMod 11. (By the way this post is NOT hiring or asking people to help on Nexus Experience, this is simply an introduction to our group.)

Google Pixel 2 XL themed to look like Galaxy S3

welp, i themed my Google Pixel 2 XL to look like a Galaxy S3 on Android 4.1.2, and honestly, i was really happy with the results!

For the lockscreen I used XLocker and S3 Ripple theme, cool right

For Accuweather I used XWidget fixed version and a custom widget (you can find those on another reddit post)

How to login to Google (no root required) (2.2 to 2.3.6) (might likely not work but worth a try :/) (All Architectures Supported)

  1. Download the following file:

Arreglo Definitivo Android 2.3.6: https://www.mediafire.com/file/jlr7y3vmnbnvij6/Arreglo_Definitivo_Android_2.3.6.zip/file

  1. Unzip the file, and copy the folder onto the root of your SD Card.

  2. Go to your old device, and install the app "Google Account Manager", "Google Play Services (armeabi)" and "Google Play Store". If they take too much space, send them all over to the SD Card using Link2SD.

  3. Go to Settings > Accounts and synchronization (or whatever it's called to you) > Add account > Google

  4. On Google Account Manager go to existing and enter your Google Account (recommended to be an alt, 2.3.6 is very vulnerable and it has the risk of being hacked and you lose your account), you will be prompted an error, and will be allowed to login via web browser, that's a good sign, usually means 2FA or something else.

  5. Follow the 2FA steps, and wait until it logs you in, congrats, you're now on Google on Android 2.3.6 in 2026!

How to login to Google (All Architectures supported) (2.3.6 and below) (Root Required) (Might cause a bootloop if not done correctly) - Thanks to u/No-Leopard-5338 for this part of the guide

Here's the tutorial on how to log in to Google on Android 2.3.6 and below!! (You need root, once root and a root file manager are installed, you can begin the tutorial)

Step 1: Open your Root File Explorer of your choice (recommended: ES File Explorer, MiXplorer or Root Browser) and navigate to /data/system (or /data/system/users/0 on some devices)

Step 2: Copy your accounts.db to sdcard

Step 3: Connect the device to a PC and turn on USB storage

Step 4: Get the DB Browser for SQLite on PC

Step 5: If you have another device that is logged in, go into the newer directory name mentioned in step 1 in parentheses and repeat step 2-3 (different or close name obviously)

Step 6: Open both your android 2 and your other device's accounts.db files

Step 7: Save the other device's one in .sql

Step 8: Import the SQL onto the Android 2 accounts.db and write changes (don't worry tokens that were on the Android 4 file that are not Google will be ignored by Android 2 but the Google account won't)

Step 9: Repeat step 2 but from the PC back to the device (after saving the file obviously)

Step 10: Rename accounts.db on the /data/system directory to accounts.db.bak or just delete it

Step 11: Move the new accounts.db into the previously mentioned directory

Final step: Set permissions to 660 and system:system (or 0660 and 0.0/0:0)

Reboot, if all the steps were done correctly, you should be logged in

(Note: Google changed the accounts.db directory to /data/system/users/0 with Android Jellybean/4.1 and above)

(Another note: this tutorial was posted on the original post under a comment but I chose to make it a full post to make it easier to find, and this is not a question, this is a tutorial so the "low effort" thing that I'm getting isn't true in this case but it disappeared after adding an image)

(Final note I swear: if you have any issues, say them in the comments )

Smooth Music Streaming via J2ME - Guide by u/nnfuse

  1. Download J2ME Loader (other J2ME emulators might work too).
  2. Download MIDPlay (the .jar file).
  3. Install and open J2ME Loader, press the plus button and choose MIDPlay.jar. May take a bit to convert depending on your device.
  4. Change the emulator options to whatever you want, just make sure "Touch input" is selected. I also like to turn off "Show keyboard". And that's it, you can now start music streaming!

Huge thanks to the devs of these apps. Runs really smooth on nnfuse's device (S5830i).

There's also an AI Chat feature (Gemini 2.5 Flash) you can mess around with. Works really well.

Galaxy Y Duos ROM considered lost media since 2024 has just been found by me - CyanogenMod 11 by DBZ Team

Hello! A bit before buying my Galaxy Y, I was looking at a Galaxy Y Duos, and I noticed that there was a ROM for the Galaxy Y Duos, CyanogenMod 11, but with its link removed, and no apparent mirror, since 2024, so, I looked away from the Duos, and went for the actual Galaxy Y.

To this day it was considered actual lost media, UNTIL TODAY! I have found a mirror on an obscure Russian forum called 4PDA (they hold a LOT of Android ROM history), so I created an account by asking AI to help me solve the russian CAPTCHA, and I downloaded the ROM, and have since preserved it. For now I'm only hosting on Mediafire, but I will upload soon to the Internet Archive.

Is there any YouTube alternative for my Galaxy Y?

Well my GT-S5360 is running CyanogenMod 9.1 and it's pretty smooth, I am using Wolfius but for some reason Wolfius doesn't make much difference, but I was able to get everything except YouTube to work, I tried SkyTube Legacy, crashes when loading video, YouTube flashback, just refuses to load videos, notPipe, loops the spinner, and etc, I was able to find EVERYTHING except for a YouTube alternative. Any tips?

My most brutal brick on Galaxy Y (just soft-brick)

A bit off topic and more of a story but today I caused a VERY brutal brick to my Galaxy Y.

I recently tried to follow a Google login for 2.3.7 below modifying accounts.db to a fail where I got a bootloop on the boot animation. I booted the device to Download Mode ready to reflash firmware, but my cable had started failing and it flashed a singular file from the different firmware (i tried to flash Ecuador firmware because I wanted Sweep effect) and then my cable decided to stuck on SetupConnection, out of desperation I restarted my Galaxy Y and for the love of god, I got the greatest scare in my life. It was a literal white screen on the charging screen. I restarted to actual Download Mode, to find out it was also FULLY white, I entered absolute panic, but Odin detected it. In a final attempt I reflashed the firmware again to success, it restarted and now I'm using it again. I'm never messing with system files again now, I hope.

The Ultimate ARMv6 Survival Guide for Androids in 2026 has been reuploaded to XDA

As my original posts keep getting removed by Reddit, I had to upload the guide on XDA, unfortunately.

This guide serves for ARMv6 devices on special, might work on ARMv7 but likely will have problems. Examples of these devices are the Galaxy Y, Galaxy Ace, and etc. I'm still checking with moderation to bring back my post on Reddit but for now this is maintained on XDA. Feel free to ask questions wherever you want, Reddit or XDA, that's your choice.

hey shadowbanned people, lets chat!

i have no idea if this is against the rules here, but lets unite all shadowbanned people!

why were you shadow banned, what did you lose, what symptoms did you see? lets talk about anything about it!

as a recently shadowbanned person i found this funny symptom where the default fallback avatar after my pfp got wiped due to the shadowban goes inverted, i called it "Inverted Profile Picture of Death", what else did you guys notice as anomalies when shadow banned, what are your interests and what?

i find this ban pretty annoying too because i had just recently made a huge armv6 guide on r/androidafterlife just for this to happen... well, yea! lets wait for reddit to help now, and meanwhile this us shadowbanned people can stay on here as a safe talk spot for shadowbanned people

The Ultimate ARMv6 Survival Guide for Androids in 2026

Hello! It's Neptune.

I wanted to help people with low budget and old devices survive with older Androids, BUT there are various guides on how to do this, yet, mine is different.

Well, most survival guides out there for Android 2.3.x devices are mostly for devices based on armv7, BUT remind yourself not EVERY device out there is an armv7!

Here's a list of all Android devices that run on the ARMv6 architecture, if you find your device here, you're in the right place too!

  • Samsung Galaxy Y and variants (GT-S5360)

Can't find your device? Just comment the model here and I'll tell you if you're on an ARMv6 or ARMv7 device, and I'll add it to the list!

Most of these are very popular devices, but most don't even have an appropriate survival guide, yet many people out there use these everyday, to message, to call, and to do many more stuff, especially older people! So, I will be your helper, and I will teach you: How to survive with an ARMv6 device nowadays!

Reminder: This post will be updated little by little, so stay tuned for updates!

How to login to Google (All Architectures/Both ARMv6 and ARMv7 supported) (2.3.6 and below) (Root Required) - Thanks to u/No-Leopard-5338 for this part of the guide

(Final note I swear: if you have any issues, say them in the comments 👍)
