The early/mid/late subdivisions of decades

Jan 2000 to Nov 2002 are the Early 2000s.

Y2K happened in Jan 2000 and digital storage officially surpassed analog storage in Nov 2002. More specifically, on Black Friday when sales peaked. The official calculation by researchers has 2002 as the shift year, and sales peak every Black Friday, so we can be certain that the shift happened exactly on November 29, 2002.

Nov 2002 to Aug 2003 was the transition point between the Early 2000s and into the Mid 2000s.

Digital storage officially surpassed analog storage in Nov 2002 and the first social media app was released in Aug 2003.

Aug 2003 to July 2007 are the Mid 2000s.

MySpace, the first social media app, released Aug 2003 and the iPhone released July 2007

June 2007 to July 2008 was the transition point between the Late 2000s and into the Early 2010s.

The iPhone released in July 2007 and the App Store and iPhone 3G released in July 2008.

July 2008 to Jan 2013 are the Early 2010s.

The App Store and iPhone 3G released in July 2008 and smartphones overtook flip phones in Jan 2013.

Jan 2013 to Feb 2014 was the transition point between the Early 2010s and into the Mid 2010s.

Jan 2013 was when smartphones overtook flip phones and Feb 2014 was when the Russo-Ukrainian war began.

Feb 2014 to Oct 2017 are the Mid 2010s.

Feb 2014 was the start of the Russo-Ukrainian war and Oct 2017 was the start of the MeToo movement.

Oct 2017 to Feb 2018 was the transition point between the Mid 2010s and into the Late 2010s.

The MeToo movement had began in Oct 2017 and the Parkland shooting happened in Feb 2018, leading to the rise of Gen Z activism.

Feb 2018 to Nov 2019 are the Late 2010s.

This was the era between Parkland and COVID.

Nov 2019 to March 2020 was the transition point between the Late 2010s and into the Early 2020s.

The COVID-19 outbreak had began but it hadn't fully transformed into a pandemic yet.

March 2020 to May 2023 are the Early 2020s.

March 2020 was the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and May 2023 was the end.

May 2023 to Oct 2023 was the transition point between the Early 2020s and into the Mid 2020s.

May 2023 was when the COVID-19 pandemic ended and October 2023 was when the Middle Eastern crisis began.

Oct 2023 to Feb 2026 was the Mid 2020s.

This era was a transition between the October 7 attacks and the Iran War, and covered the Middle Eastern crisis before it escalated into the Iran War.

Feb 2026 to indefinite will be the transition point between the Mid 2020s and into the Late 2020s.

This era will cover the Iran War.

The Early 2020s was from November 17, 2019 to October 7, 2023

COVID was the defining event of the early 2020s and the middle eastern crisis was the defining event of the mid 2020s.

I think the middle eastern crisis was more signifigant than Ukraine or AI because the October 7 attacks led to the Gaza war which then led to the 12-day war which then led to the Iran war.

So I think that the early 2020s would be defined by COVID and the mid 2020s would be defined by the middle eastern crisis.

I think COVID sort of died down at the end of 2022 because Qatar hosted the world cup and this was actually very signifigant COVID-wise and let me explain.

Qatar allowed 3,404,252 people to attend the event. No vaccination was mandated. So this means COVID pretty much was unofficially gone after this event even if the World Health Organization didn't officially recognize it.

So I would say the transition to the mid 2020s was from December 18, 2022 to October 7, 2023, and October 7, 2023 was the official start of the mid 2020s.

Do you guys agree or not?

2009-2015 is Zalpha

2009-2015 were in Pre-K to 5th grade when the COVID-19 pandemic started and were in 2nd to 8th grade when it ended.

So they were in elementary school when the COVID-19 pandemic started and were in late elementary to middle school when it ended.

2009-2012 would lean Gen Z and 2013-2015 would lean Gen Alpha.

Does this range work?
