Several years ago, I saw a 3D printer for the first time in action. Until then, I had only heard of them but didn’t think they’d be the least bit practical. Well, the people printing at the time were making a toy wagon wheel to replace a broken one. That was it! I totally geeked out at the practicality of it and knew I had to get one someday. Well that day is today. Scraper tool was my first print. Boring, I know, but I just wanted something simple and quick for my first time. Excuse the mess to the side. I had to hurriedly move all that stuff over to make room. 😆

To give some context, we are visiting my wife’s parents and helping out around the house since her mom just had some recent back surgeries. She needed more padding on her walker so we went to the Dollar Tree to get a pool noodle to cut and wrap around the handles to make it more comfortable for her.
So there we were paying for said pool noodle and a blue collar man who was talking to the cashier sees my Christopher Ward Trident and giddily asked, “Dang man, is that a Rolex Datejust?”
For a little more context, we are in a very rural town and most of it is lower income. No judgment here, that’s just what it is. My wife and I are lower middle class I’d say. If I really wanted a Rolly, I could probably have one; I just have different priorities at this point in life.
Plus, this is just my personality, but I’d be a little embarrassed if I were to be wearing a Rolex in this situation. So I said, “nah man, this is just a Christopher Ward. I don’t think I could ever have a Rolex.”
Keep in mind my wife knows nothing about watches. She then chirps, “oh yeah, he wouldn’t ever wear a Rolex…he’s too particular.”
😳😱🤣
I died a little on the inside. I quickly explained that it wasn’t because I’m particular, but it was that we probably couldn’t afford it at the moment or possibly ever. I thanked him for complimenting my watch and bid everyone a good day.
As we left the store, I told my wife, “you just made me seem like a complete douche tool. The watch he was talking about is $10k or more. You basically just told that guy that I’m too good to wear a Rolex!”
She was like, “well I didn’t know…”
Such innocence…
She’s aloof to all my hobbies and I’d like to keep it that way…but a rolly is off the table for good now that the cat is out of the bag 🤣

I don’t have a before pic, but I’ve had this SAK for 25+ years. It had black scales. My late grandmother brought it back for me many years ago after she traveled to Switzerland for vacation one time. Of course I kept those scales, but these Micarta ones gave it new life.
•Microtech Hera II mini S/E
•Reylight Pineapple mini (Newest gear addition— awesome little flashlight, but unfortunately not a real light saber) 😔

•Alpaka zip pouch
•Orbitkey organizer
•Victorinox SAK with Micarta scales
•Olight iUltra
•Apple AirTag

These scales gave my SAK a new life. I’ve had it since my grandmother bought it for me from the Victorinox factory over 25 years ago when she visited Switzerland.
Let me first explain: I am a complete noob with zero modding or repair experience (aside from watching the occasional YouTube video that makes it look easy and makes me think, yeah I can defin….I probably do that!) 🤣
When I bought my SSK023, the 24 on the bezel was slightly out of alignment. It wasn’t enough to return it, but enough to make me want to pop the bezel off and make it right. I finally got a kit with a bezel removal tool the other day and got up the nerve to give it a go.
I expected only the bezel to pop off, but instead, the crystal came with it. I assume that is normal for this model so I’m not worried about that. It was just unexpected is all.
The other thing that was unexpected was the gasket. It is a very thin, white, plastic like gasket. I expected it to be a black rubber o-ring. It appeared to be mashed on one side and if it wasn’t already, it definitely was when I pressed the bezel back on. Part of the bezel appears to go all the way down, but on one side, I can still see the gasket poking out. To be fair, I need a bezel and case back press so I can evenly press it back on. I just naively thought I would try snapping it back in without one first.
My question is, I found a black rubber o-ring gasket on Namoki specifically labeled SSK bezel gasket. Is this fine to use or do I need a white plastic one like what came with it and if so, where can I find one? Thanks for any advice!
I purchased this Osprey Daylite 26+6 a few months ago and have daily carried it since. However, the main reason I bought it wasn’t necessarily for daily carry. My mother-in-law had 2 scheduled back surgeries and knowing that my wife and I would be visiting and helping (6 hours away), I wanted something simple to carry to the hospital/rehab facility/hotel. Well that time has come. I’m happy to report that her surgeries were successful and she’s on the mend. Also, the one bag travel has been as equally successful.

Bellroy Venture Ready Sling 2.5L
14” Laptop
Not pictured:
Osprey toiletry bag (small)
Supernote Nomad (fits oh so conveniently in the front pocket of the Osprey!)
Successes:
I was able to fit several days worth of clothes into the packing cubes (socks and undies in the small—2 pairs of pants, a polo, and several tees in the medium)
Criticisms and shortcomings:
These are not necessarily of any fault of the bag as much as it was trial and error issues with me.
I had to take my house slippers separately. I absolutely hate wearing socks or bare feet on a hotel room floor. Since I had them separately in a plastic bag, I also put my toiletry bag in there as well. That would have fit in the backpack if needed though. I probably could have sacrificed some clothing to fit the house slippers.
Aside from maybe fitting in some flip-flops (and slippers in my case), you probably should be married to the one pair of shoes you have on.
If I were traveling in the winter, I could see other issues arise with the heavier clothing, jackets, and such. Probably not much of an issue with merino wool and packable down gear if you have it.
Bottom line:
This was a fantastic way of traveling for me at this time and for the most part, was successful. I wouldn’t hesitate taking this on a trip requiring air travel. This would be a game changer not having to worry about or wait on your luggage and such.
