Yama got a burst cyst! Happy 2 Years, bub 😅

He had a pretty fast cyst burst on Friday. We got it cleaned up and he's on an antibiotic with a cone of shame and is slowly improving but it doesn't stay scabbed over. We're going out of town tomorrow and he's going to boarding. I'm a bit worried :/

Wish him luck!

Need help getting Sega Saturn running

I've been trying on and off for a while. Whever I boot up a rom, I get this screen:

https://preview.redd.it/41qn6ox577gh1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=e655b4a2a10b669c21f68633b590024001e6d6f8

And there's nothing else I can do.

Additionally I feel that the information on how to set this up is only getting increasingly difficult to find.

I've tried several bios files and I even downloaded a comprehensive zip from git hub and copied those over to the right place (I think).

Any tips? How did you guys get this running?

I am so sick of people saying "bespoke"

I cannot stand this word being a stand-in for custom. It sounds overly fancy and elitist and also the word custom exists! When people say bespoke it has taken on the meaning in modern times that it is custom made for a certain place, person, or event.

Originally, when we still added "be" in front of words to alter their meaning in English, when someone said an item was bespoke, it meant "spoken for" - as in claimed or for someone specifically.

I imagine it comes from tailors, seamstress', haberdashers, etc. when a customer would see a piece the artisan was working on and liked it, they'd ask to buy it and they would be told that this piece is bespoke - as in, it is spoken for/I am making this to order for someone/this is a CUSTOM piece -- aka it's not for you and you can't have it unless you want to pay to have me make one just like it.

Saying bespoke instead of custom just seems pompous and trying to seem "cultured" in the tacky sense. I hate it.

JUST SAY CUSTOM!!!!! YOU SOUND DUMB WHEN YOU SAY BESPOKE.

Switching to Linux if you WFH?

I'm a Windows user out of convenience and used to be a Mac user that won't go back. How disruptive would switching to a Linux distro be from Windows if I work from home? I own my own device. I'd love to just erase windows from my laptop completely.

the only desktop tools I use really are microsoft office, and Adobe premier, media encoder, acrobat, and fonts. I also use handbreak often. Everything else I use is browser based or some form of a PWA.

I'm familiar with Linux as I own a Steamdeck and have used desktop mode to do some things like setting up emulators and roms and installing ffix mods.

I understand there are levels of ease with Linux and there are many options. In terms of ease, what distro would be best for someone who is not exactly a tech nerd but is tech intuitive? What could I reasonably get set up over a weekend and what kind of tinkering would I need to do to get my usual tools working? I am aware of wine and proton but don't know a ton about them. What tools would be satisfactory or "good enough" replacements if wine is not sufficient to use what I mentioned above?

I am not an expert in anything computer related but if you give me a problem and some time to work on it when it comes to tech issues, I WILL find the solution and fix it, even if I have to teach myself a whole new skill set or program for that specific use case. I also smart enough to know when something is outside of my realm of ability to learn/when persistence is not good enough.

Post HRA and Electrocautery Experience?

38/M/Pittsburgh, PA, USA.

I want to know your experiences with pain after these procedures.

Hi y'all - common theme of anal health discussed here. I recently have been going for high resonance anoscopies to monitor some recurring high grade and low grade lesions. I had an electrocautery of three lesions that popped back up. Less than last time and they said everything looked way better besides those.

My question is what have your experiences with pain been after this? The first time I recall it was gone in a few days, no trouble really.

This time, I went last Thursday, and I'm still in a lot of pain. Usually the biopsies are worse and this time the electrocautery feels WAY worse But man, the dull pain is really a lot, especially a bowel movement or sneezing.

I have been reading around and it seems like my first few times I got lucky with pain and that the experience I am having now is the norm. Is it?

Tell me about your experiences. I'd really like to put myself at ease.

Why are Find & Replace and Checkboxes hidden so deeply?

EDIT: I know how to find these things. This post is not asking for help, I am here solely for unproductive complaining. If you'd like to commiserate and complain about trivial word problems you have too then this is the place to be. If you're looking to solve problems, this post is not for you.

I need these all of the time. The first time I needed to use check boxes, I tried to find it without help and it was impossible. It should not be that hard to use a dang check box.

Also - find and replace. I remember for a while a few years ago, word would literally ask me "hey! Are you looking for find and replace? It's right here!" and that was the only way I could find it. Now it never does that.

I know I can use a search engine, and I'm going to, I just wanted to be a baby about it.

Libre Office sounds better and better every day...

What is this Yellow/Green Mushroom in my Plant? Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Pittsburgh, PA, USA. This started growing last week in my pot that houses a rubber tree and a sprouting Cherimoya seed. I have recently watered it a couple times over the last month with water from my fishtank as I do partial water changes. (everything seems to love it and they all have new growth!) The last picture was taken days after the first two as I was trying to get a shot of the gills for this group.

Fish tank Hobbyists - Where to find ghost shrimp?

I'd like to buy some more for my tank and so would my partner but no where has them right now. Been searching for a month.

Does anyone know which pet store/aquarium and fish supply store is the most reliable? Gas is getting expensive and even when I call ahead to ask and they say yes, I get there and there aren't any.

What kind of tree is this from?

Pittsburgh, PA.

I foolishly didn't get a full pic of the tree but the leaves and blossoms are quite unique.

What is this?

Is this other thing a seed pod I can plant?

▲ 2 r/FraudPrevention+1 crossposts

We are in the USA. My partner's card info got stolen somehow and they took him to the cleaners and he's negative. Everything is pending so when we called the bank they said they can't do anything yet??? (Like how about decline the effing charges???!! What do you mean???) So we have to wait for them to be cleared and then they can make a fraud claim and start the process.

What else can we do? How can we prepare otherwise? Is there a way to find out who did it? It's all weird stuff like state secretary of NC, AZ, OH, and other official sounding things - stuff I bet a bank wouldn't flag as fraud...

Any advice or anecdotal stories??
