Better because they arrive with some context. Worse because they arrive with confidence about something that is half right and now I have to unpick it diplomatically. Not complaining exactly. Just noticing the conversations have changed in a way I did not predict.

Genuinely brilliant documentary drops on a Tuesday at 11pm with no promotion. Middling panel show gets a prime time slot and three series. The content quality and the decisions around that content feel like they are made by completely different organisations. What is the best thing the BBC has made recently that you only found because you went looking for it?

Everyone has a reason. Better deal, coverage in a specific area, fed up with whoever came before. What was yours and now you are actually on it does the reality match what made you sign up in the first place?

Could be motorways. Could be multi storey car parks. Could be that one roundabout near your house that has no logical rules. Nobody becomes fearless overnight. What is yours?

Events, openings, markets, community things, anything worth showing up for between now and September. What is on your radar that deserves more attention than it is getting?

Not the show necessarily. The specific performance. The night where someone on that stage was operating at a level that felt almost impossible to account for. The kind of thing that makes you sit very still at the end because you need a moment before you can applaud. What was it and what made it that.

Not looking for tourism board answers. Looking for the things that people who live here have genuinely noticed getting better. Infrastructure, venues, food scene, community stuff, whatever. The easy version of this conversation is just to list problems and there are plenty. But there must be things that are genuinely moving in the right direction .
