Chosfox Geonix Rev 2.5

*Chosfox sent this to me for free to check out and give feedback on*

The Geonix Rev 2.5 is heeeeerrrreeee!!

When I say I've been excited about this board since Evan told me he was working on it, "excited" is an understatement. I already loved the Rev 2 and use it quite often, but the 2.5 vaults it to a whole other level. As an ortholinear user, I'm all for anything to constantly make them more accessible and palatable for anyone.

Just to hit some highlights and not go into too much depth, they added a 2u stabilizer for the spacebar, the keycaps are more stable while typing on top of my favorite Kailh low profile switches as the previous revision had some stability issues. The case design has improved and the weight actually went up around 40 grams (rev 2 is 340 grams, rev 2.5 is 388 grams), but still lightweight enough for a backpack or bag to carry with you. PLUS IT'S WIRELESS.

They kept that awesome as heck RGB too and made it pop even more with the PC sides.

Well done, ChosFox, I'm super happy with the improvements.

*Just a reminder, Chosfox sent this to me for free, my opinions are my own and I don't receive any compensation for this.*

IQUNIX EV63 with Magnetic X Ultra switches

Recently, IQUNIX reached out to me on Reddit to see if I would be interested in taking a look at one of their newest boards. I receive no monetary gain or such for this, it's just simply my own take on the board. You can read more in depth on my Medium article, but this is less of a "review" and more of "observation".

I've liked u/IQUNIXstore boards since their OG80 keyboard because let’s face it, I love an angled top row; it’s vintage and iconic. Their design language is usually geared towards more functional, but there are a few head turners they’ve put out.

IQUNIX markets this as an “entry level”, but on looks alone it does not seem entry level at all. It feels like it holds it own compared with some other higher end HE boards I've tried. The anodizing reminds me of the ano on the TGR x Monokei Tomo that's insanely smooth. Plus they CNC'd a strip of forged carbon fiber straight into the case at the wrist area; that's just cool, if you're into that sort of thing.

The keyboard just worked right out of the box. The software was easy to use online, plus you can swap back and forth between profiles like "Gaming" or "Office" depending on need as well as customizing actuations for each of the switches. With their own IQUNIX designed Magnetic X Ultra HE switches, it sounds quite "marbley" in texture due to the multi-layers of poron foam inside the case. I was able to map my keys to my desired layout (HHKB, it's always HHKB) just like you would in VIA/VIAL, etc. It honestly just WORKS.

I'm a 30+ year musician and when I pick up a guitar to play it, I sound like me. I could use Angus Young's or Vince Gill's and I will always sound like me. So when I use a keyboard, I use it like me. I didn't game intensely with it to test it among some more higher accuracy games or completive rounds, but Overwatch, Fortnite, Hogwarts Legacy, and a few others did just fine.

MAY THE SCHWARTEENTH BE WITH YOU!!

As proclaimed by u/DLoseious, May the 14th from henceforth in perpetuity is hereby known as The Schwarteenth, Spaceballs Day, here in the sub and throughout the universe!

Today is a day to celebrate the return of the stolen air of Druidia, the explosion of the Mega Maid, and all things Spaceballs!

Show off your costumes, your creations, your favorite lines, where you were when you first experienced "Spaceballs". Crack open a can of Perri-Air and go nuts! I've created a post flair for the occasion as well.

AND MAY THE SCHWARTZ BE WITH YOU!!

Arcane Arc60 with GMK Polybius

The Arcane Arc60 is quite possibly my favorite 60% of all time next to the KC 1/60.

As a child of the 80s, I have fond memories of the arcade carpets so the subtle purples on the GMK set hit so nicely with the Arcane colorway on the Arc60. Our local arcade was an Aladdin's Castle if any of you remember those when they were around!

With the deskmat, all I need now is the smell of cheap pizza, a few pieces of gum smashed into it, and loud 80s hair band rock in the background.

Arc60

  • Keygeek B1 switches
  • Aluminum plate
  • GMK Polybius
  • Cherry Clip in stabilizers

I've wanted to get my hands on this set for some time and I finally caved. When I opened the box, a flood of memories hit me.

We found this pic of us at the video store my mom managed all through the 80s and part of the 90s. I think we were there helping with some inventory and such, was around '87 I think. I spent a good bit of my childhood at that store.

Unfortunately, mom passed last June at the age of 67 but left behind a love of movies and music.

This is what Rewind makes me think of. Some of the best times of my life.

Board specs:

- Keycult 1/60, black & red

- GMK Rewind by Nephlock

- Cherry MX Ergo Clears with SW Ghost Dragon at spacebar

Years ago when my daughter was about 4 years old, I was working from home. She comes into my home office and gives me this watercolor painting she made of a keyboard that she wants me to hang up.

After staring at it for a while I decide....we're gonna build this together and bring it to life.

So I found a Womier K61 that matched the blue of the painting, some cheap PBT lime keycaps, Feker Holy Pandas.

She was so excited when everything came in. I showed her how to put a couple switches in and she did the rest (no bent pins, either!)

We signed the back of it and it will forever be one of my most prized possessions :).
