I’m learning pixel art for my steampunk platformer
I’m making a steampunk platformer, and needed art to polish it up and remove placeholder art. This is my first attempt at a main character. What workflows or tips do you wish you knew earlier?

2D steampunk platformer about collecting different blades and unlocking movement mechanics. A lot of the major systems are in place just working on pixel art and level design! A lot of the art is placeholder. Open to game dev tips you wish you new sooner in development!
I’m building Hilted, a 2D pixel-art steampunk action-platformer in Godot.
A lot of the core mechanics are already implemented, and I’m currently building out Level 1. The game is ultimately about trying to remain human in a world obsessed with transcending humanity, where technology and ambition push people beyond their natural limits.
You find an ancient hilt that is switch the blade. Different blades have different abilities and are unlocked by fighting bosses or going on side quests. Each new blade unlocks different stats, playstyles, and movement mechanics(dash, grapple hook, double jump, invisibility etc.)
All the art is currently placeholder.
Having a lot of fun with the process. What do you all think?
