How are you onboarding new hires before assets are assigned?

We have a workflow that sends new employees their account credentials via SMS. We ask them to sign into their account, set up Microsoft Authenticator, and create their new password. All of this is usually done before they get any company equipment. This gives them a day or more to start reading emails, sign into external work accounts, and - most importantly- sign all their onboarding paperwork before they get their company phone and computer.

We're starting to put the squeeze on using personal devices so I need a new policy.

How can we communicate with new employees before they have a company computer and phone in their hands?

I'm looking into generating a seven day temp access code. I just have to figure out how to do this in power autoamte. But is this what everyone's doing? Is there a better 'best practice'?

Why do I occasionally get these prompts to "make my account secure"?

I'm the org global admin. My exiting authentication methods are Microsoft Authenticator, software 2FA (Bitwarden), and Fido key. I have made every attempt in MFA Methods to prevent SMS from being an accepted form of authentication but I may not have that configed properly.

I can Skip Setup a few times and get to a point where I'm authenticating with my Yubikey but it continues to insist that I register a phone number.

What do we need to do to fully block authentication with a telephone number?

How can I remove the 'All' app section in the start menu? 25H2

I feel like a recent update forced the apps back into the start screen. I'd like to remove them and only have my pinned apps.

Windows 11 v25H2. Virtual PC. I'm going to type more words here because this post requires two hundred fifty characters. Done!

Are News Post page approvals broke?

We've been using the built in page approval for News Posts for a long time now. It seems every once in a while, this breaks. I can usually fix it by deleting the existing flow and creating a new one.

I have a newer site where I found someone was posting without approval because, I guess, I never created an approval flow for it. So it was just last week that I created the approval from Site Pages > Integrate > Power Automate > Configure Page Approval Flow.

That worked for two News Posts but now it's no longer recognizing that a new page has been submitted for approval. There is no trigger to troubleshoot.

So, is anyone else seeing this or am I an idiot for using the built in tool?

Isit possible to disable all intelligence in Outlook (MacOS)?

I'm tired spending time researching how to disable Outlook's intelligence just so I can send a three sentence email. Is there some way to just make it stupid and remove everything?

URLs to our SharePoint are constantly shortend. I will never want to shorten any links because I want to ensure the recepient is aware of the address. I would prefer plain text without a hyperlink at all. "Paste as Plain Text" does not work.

I'm writing the word "don't" and it's converting my font from sans serif to serif. I presume it has to do with typing an apostrophe but I have no idea why it would want to change my font. When I submit an undo command, it erases the word.

I'm just sick and tired of everything doing everything for me. At least Clippy would just offer a suggestion without actually changing things for you.

Where did Work go?

There used to be a switch in the web chat to select Web or Work. I've noticed this is now gone. And with it, Copilot's abolity to read my data.

If I ask it anything about Outlook or OneDrive, it says it can not access that data.

What happened?

Why do we keep having to add a phone number for MFA?

There was just an article that came out saying that SMS and Voice Calls are going to be removed as MFA methods. Awesome. In the meantime, I have an account that already has Microsoft Authenticator and Authenticator App as default authentication methods.

What do I need to do to permanantly remove legacy MFA methods from an account / our tenant?

Replying from a Shared Mailbox, From is recipient.

I'm accessing my M365 account from Outlook on the web. I have several Shared Mailboxes present.

For testing, I've sent an email from 'myname at mydomain' to the shared mailbox 'operations at mydomain'.

When I select the message in the shared mailboxes inbox and Reply or Reply All, the To and From feilds are both 'operations at mydomain'.

So, it's not defaulting to responding to the person who sent the email.

This issue exists when more than one person is a member of a shared mailbox and a member of the shared mailbox intends to contact the other memebers. When a shared mailbox member responds to the original message, they're responding to the shared mailbox as the shared mailbox and not as themselves or to the sender.

I can open the shared mailbox from outlook/'operations at mydomain' to get around this but I want to understand if this is a bug or why this could possibly make any sense.

How do you prevent Teams from overriding your set status?

Teams has historically set "Focus Time" for me at random times of the work day. The issue with this is that it blocks people from contacting me. I get that this is the entire point and I generally appreciate it.

However, if someone has contacted me and I ask them to call me, they're not able to until the Focus time is up. I would assume the work around for this is to set my status to Available and set the duration to an hour or two.

No matter what I do, the Focus time overrides the stauts that I set in Teams.

Am I misunsderstanding the Notebook function?

I want to create a notebook that's a collection of chats regarding expressions for power automate. A collection of code snipets that copilot has helped me with.

So, I go to the chat in the sidebar, I select •••, then [Add to notebook]. The prompt says "Add this chat and newly created pages to notebook" and has me select a notebook.

Then I go to the top left, select Copilot > Waffle Menu > Notebooks. I select my notebook. There is nothing in the notbook.

So, how come when I add a chat to a notebook, it's not present in the notebook?

The user interface for this product makes no sense at all. Nevermind the fact that they hijacked office.com to do copilot things and have completely hidden the office things.

https://m365.cloud.microsoft/ redirects to chat. The menu options are New Chat, Search, Library. Below that is a chat history that can not be hidden from view if you want to use the navigation of the page so if you're screensharing your boss can see all your conversations.

The options for individual Chats is Rename, Add/Remove from notebook. On the top right, there's Auto, new chat, recent pages, feedback, settings, quick help. Being that add to notebook doesn't do anything at all, there appears to be no way to save a chat.

What you can do is edit a chat in a page and then save that page into a notebook. Ok... that's convoluted and isn't the same as the existing option that suggests you can save a chat into a notebook.

EDIT: Answered.

So, the process is waffle menu > Notebooks > Select Notebook > Far right Chat section > Select tiny arrow next to Chat > Select your chat.

I am not at all surprised but for all the work they've put into pushing copilot onto us without any ability to opt out, they really REALLY did a shitass job with the interface.

I swear, I am trying to use copilot but every time I try it's just a worse expereice than not using LLM at all.

What's the deal with Scroll To Top or Reset not working on all screens?

EDIT: Fixed it.

When the item is selected on the previous page, a variable is set to display the appropriate card. I'm now setting the variable to Blank() when Cancel is selected.

- - - -

I inserted a Scrollable Screen into my app. This screen has a some static parts at the top and at Y:300 there's a Canvas. Inside the canvas are Cards. These cards are visible based on the selection from the previous screen. So, if "Cell Phone" is selected, then the cell phone card is visible and the others are not visible.

Inside the card are a number of text labels, a combobox, and two buttons at the bottom. The text labels are showing the data about the cell phone and the buttons are Submit and Cancel.

The issue is that when the Cancel button is selected and we're returned to the previous screen, the subsequent selection navigates back to this screen and the canvas is at the same position that was previously observed. So, you hit cancel, select another item, and instead of being at the top of the canvas you're at the cancel button again.

From what I've learned, it seems that there's no way to get there canvas to scroll back to the top. Is this true? Is there a reliable work around?

It's also been suggested that the only way to "reset" the screen is to use a Gallery. I'm trying to make this work but it doesn't seem like I can just place text in the gallery. The expression for the text labels is:

Concatenate("Manufacturer: ",varSelectedAsset.'Phone Manufacturer'.Value)

Is there a way to set a default Display Name sort for the Solutions page?

Dozens of times a day, I need to 'Sort A to Z'. Like every single other Microsoft product, I don't even understand what the existing default order is. And now when I select a Solution, I need to select Objects.

I'd like to cut down on some of this wasted time. I know it's only seconds but it's distracting and frustrating.

What's even more frustrating is that it doesn't seem like you can just bookmark a solution. It would be great to just add Solution1, Solution2, etc in my browser so I can jump right to it.

Most of the times, I don't find out someone is travelling until they get to their destination and they complain they can't get their emails. Sometimes, people listen to me and remember to let me know ahead of time.

Just wondering if you employ some sort of a workflow - automate or otherwise - for people to let you know ahead of time. Do you at least have them put it in a calendar?

Our Apple Business admin account is tied to a generic email address and a spare cell phone number - not a user.

I'm not finding a spot in the business manager site to add a secondary or back up MFA method. Ideally, I could remove the phone number and rely instead on an MFA app with a recovery email as backup.
