Step-up at top of stairs?

4th floor, at the top of the stairs in an old brownstone is a kitchen. To enter the kitchen you have to take a step up of about 1.5 inches.

I don't love how the kitchen floor is not all one height so I'm wondering how it's typically done- thanks!

Thinking of plastering wall

Hi there,
W/D is on the 4th floor of old brownstone in kitchen and I pulled it out from the wall because I saw a mouse scurry in the kitchen and want to mouse-proof my apartment and found a huge hole in the wall. I want to try and install lath and plaster a new wall corner to begin sealing out mice.

First pic is zoomed in second pic is larger morass.

Should I attempt to plaster and put in lath?
Is it common for lath to just stop halfway through a wall if there's plumbing behind it? There is no stud on the far side of the wall for the lath to be drilled into.
Could the mice family be behind the wall?
If i should go through with this, any advice on my situation? I've never done it b4.

Thank you!

Gameplay:
•Behind-the-back endless runner (same perspective as Subway Surfers/Temple Run)
•You controlled a human character on what felt like a hoverboard surfing along tracks
•Swipe controls to move along tracks
•Had defined levels / stages based around famous artists or paintings

The key detail is the art theme:
•Collecting/unlocking famous real-world masterpiece paintings was central to the game, and you could collect pieces on the rails. Once you collected all the pieces you were rewarded with the painting you could view in like a gallery.

I have one screenshot from 2018 showing the reward screen with The Kiss by Klimt. You can see my little avatar in the screenshot- he's blurry and red and on some sort of hoverboard. Any ideas appreciated!
