My friend, the things that do attain

The happy life be these, I find:

The riches left, not got with pain,

The fruitful ground; the quiet mind;

The equal friend; no grudge, no strife;

No charge of rule nor governance;

Without disease the healthy life;

The household of continuance;

The mean diet, no dainty fare;

True wisdom joined with simpleness;

The night discharged of all care,

Where wine the wit may not oppress;

The faithful wife, without debate;

Such sleeps as may beguile the night:

Content thyself with thine estate,

Neither wish death, nor fear his might.

Could someone make a font for WillowScript for me?

It's just a one-to-one for English, should be easy to do (except for me).

Conventionally is vertical but would prefer horizontal left-to-right, or both vertical and horizontal.

Can someone edit a font for me?

I have no idea how to edit a font file and draw my own glyphs.
I was wondering if there's anyone on here who would be interested in a project to add some glyphs to an existing font for me, linked below, that I use in my web browser (via Stylus) and in journalling/note-taking etc. The font is used as a one-to-one cypher for English but doesn't cover special characters or all punctuation.

I am not the author of this font file but it has been made freely available.

It's 'Nunkish' from the anime, Violet Evergarden.

AnkiDroid Keyboard/Typing Problem

Trying to use Logitech Pebble-Keys with my Galaxy S11 to type answers in my Japanese cards--front of the card displays Japanese word and I have to type it before hitting enter to show the back--however, although the text field auto-focuses on my Mac for me to just type straight in, it will not focus at all (even if I touch it) on my tablet.

Can anyone help me resolve this?

Earlier Designs of Frames with Retractable Bands

I have seen some discussion on this sub of the AutoFling frame (which indeed looks very cool), which brought to mind memories of seeing other frames (or at least one other) like this on YouTube -- ie where the band/tube(s) retract into the frame, which also holds balls.

I've never been able to find that video (it's not the Jorg Sprave one) but it definitely exists and predates the AutoFling design by many years. If someone could share a link, that'd be awesome.

Explain Theme Installation to an Idiot

I have just installed Asahi KDE on my MacBook am have been dismayed to find that theme modification is more complex than I thought it would be.

I want a glass/aero theme but haven't found anything I like in the Discover app and apparently anything that has heavy transparency (or translucency...?) requires something called 'Kvantum' to work, as well as manually downloading from the KDE Store website and manually installing, none of which I know how to do.

I found a theme that I would like to install:
https://store.kde.org/p/1364705

...if anyone can give me an idiot-proof guide to getting this running I'll be eternally grateful. I'm totally new to Linux and not all the tech-savvy (so, 'in English, please!')

Anyone else dislike First Light?

If the characters in this 'videogame' (which is really a walking simulator/movie game) didn't have the names from the books/movies I would have no idea this was even supposed to be a Bond game. Especially the characterisation of Bond himself is totally off. Really didn't like the actor's voice either.

The 'gameplay' has been critiqued to death by some and I have nothing to add to that discussion really, but I haven't seen too many people critiquing the game's narrative, its handling of the characters, or the Bond voice actor.

I know this post will get downvoted into oblivion but it'd be nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks this.

Someone make a Tengwar browser extension

...please! There's a plugin for Chrome that converts all the text on a webpage into Shavian, so why not Tengwar (English Mode)?

Is there a browser plug-in...

...that can convert a webpage's text into Shavian? Or every word into IPA so that one can then apply whatever font they want over it?

Hope the question makes sense.

I hate Lane's band

Getting through Season 4 (slowly) it finally struck me how much I hate the scene's with Lane's band. I wonder how many feel the same.

While we're here, can you tell me if Season 6 is worth watching (I've heard bad things) or if I should just watch a 'recap' video on YouTube before going on to the Revival (or if I should skip that one, too).

Best Anki Deck for MSA?

There are many options on AnkiWeb but I want to cut through the noise and get the best 'Most Common Words' deck for Modern Standard (with audio for each word, and, ideally, sample sentences also outfitted with audio) ; if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be eternally grateful.

I am a complete beginner, by the way.

Thank you.

Nunkish Font (Violet Evergarden)

I don't take credit for the fonts.

Has anyone else achieved fluency in reading Nunkish?

Green Ringer and Envelope

I don't build pedals, just asking if something is doable as a custom item.

I want a Green Ringer and envelope filter pedal with the ability to blend them in parallel with the dry input signal (ie three separate voices) before summing to mono at the output. The Ringer and filter would not be in series (as nice as that would be, what I’m requesting below is probably already too ambitious).

Ideally the pedal would be no larger than Hammond 125B but I would settle for 1590BB (though in the latter size it must have top-mounted jacks and DC in, which is preferred even for the smaller of the two enclosures).

Proposed control scheme:

> Footswitch and check-light for both Green Ringer and Filter ;

> Side 1 Ringer- Gain, Parallel Mix ;

> (Side 2 Option 1) Envelope- Parallel Mix, Sensitivity, Peak frequency ;

> (Side 2 Option 2) Q-Zone- Peak Frequency, Frequency Boost Amount, Q/Bandwidth ;

> (Side 2 Option 3) Envelope/Q-Zone combo- Parallel mix, Sensitivity (when in envelope mode), Peak Frequency, Q/Bandwidth, toggle switch to activate envelope or fix the Peak Frequency

Ambitious Extras I Can Do Without:

> Bias for Ringer (internal trim?) ;

> Envelope mode should modulate around the knob-set center frequency--not sweep from zero upward ;

> Decay and direction (drive up/down) controls for envelope, envelope depth also internal trim-pots/switches?

Having parallel blend knobs for both the filter and the Ringer would allow balancing the Ringer volume against the filter volume relative to each other.

When neither footswitch is engaged the pedal should be bypassed with dry signal going through it. I want to prevent "popping" noises when engaging the effects. If both effects are engaged with their mix knobs set at maximum there should be no dry signal heard.

How feasible is it to do this in such a compact enclosure?

I already made a post before about this but no one replied and I have revised the control criteria since.

Many thanks for any advice.

Question: Green Ringer / Envelope in Shared Enclosure

I don't build pedals, just asking if something is doable as a custom item.

I want a Green Ringer and envelope filter in the same enclosure, with the ability to switch the order of the effects in sequence, or run them in parallel before summing to mono at the output (but willing to forego the parallel option if it's enormously difficult).

Ideally the pedal would be no larger than Hammond 125B, and would have top-mounted jacks and DC in.

Minimum control scheme:

> Order switch for Green Ringer and Envelope;

> Footswitch and check-light for each effect ;

> Ringer- Gain/Bias, Parallel Mix ;

> (Option 1) Envelope- Parallel Mix, Sensitivity, Peak frequency ;

> (Option 2) Q-Zone- Peak Frequency, Frequency Boost Amount, Q/Bandwidth ;

> (Option 3) Envelope/Q-Zone combo- Parallel mix, Sensitivity (when in envelope mode), Peak Frequency, Q/Bandwidth, toggle switch to activate envelope or fix the Peak Frequency ;

How feasible is it to do this in such a compact enclosure?

I already made a post before about this but it seems to have disappeared and I have revised the control criteria since.

Many thanks for any advice.

Green Ringer and Q Zone in Shared Enclosure

Is it possible to do this in a 'compact' enclosure?

I don't build pedals myself and have no idea about electronics and am curious as to how feasible it is to put something like this into, say, a 1590b.

The dual circuit would be toggled by a single footswitch and would ideally have the following controls:

Entire circuit would have a wet/dry blend knob for the input signal.

Q Zone side would have knobs for freq., Q bandwidth, boost; and a switch to toggle whether the circuit is active.

Green Ringer would have whatever controls can be used in that circuit--gain/'null', at least ; and an on/off switch.

There'd be a switch that could flip the order of the two effects in the chain.

NB With both the Q Zone and Green Ringer sides toggled off the blend knob would effectively do nothing, of course, unless there's also an output volume in the chain for example

I am in the UK if anyone wants to build this for me (for a reasonable price). Don't know if I'm allowed to solicit a purchase here, sorry if I'm breaking the rules.

EDIT: Apparently the Tsakalis AudioWorks Phonkify exists, but I'm still interested in having a circuit using the Green Ringer.
