I'm actually laughing at the irony of 1998 European Union 50p coins

A guy in 1998 was like "omg let's commemorate being the president of the EU and being in the EEC for 25 years!" and then brexit happened

I'm also quite shite at telling whether coins are in good condition, like this was obviously circulated cus I got it as a tip but it looks better than most of the coins I have... Not sure if it's worth keeping, it might be better spent on a bus ride or a charity shop, but I might still keep it because that's the first time I saw one

I tried recycling the paper I'd used to prepare for a levels without having the equipment to do so

Honestly I'm kinda impressed. It's got some gaps and it's not the best looking, but considering I did this on the windowsill on my room without a frame and with an old PE bag it's kinda great. Like, it's all in one piece, can you imagine??

SOTL thoughts

Loved the game overall, had some bugs with inventory before the android update, now I only have one bug where like the arrows to move in a room appear for one frame at the end of every part of dinner on day 3

My favourite moments of me playing:

 1. Figuring out the language the elixir is made in, literally so cool just going around making notes of everything

 2. I doodled "harvey" in the servant's book when I saw the parrot before the grand reveal, needless to say I was flabbergasted

 3. Had to go to YouTube for the puzzle with the pictures having different symbols cus I just thought "oh lol why is Alexandra's head a fish all of a sudden"

 4. Also had to go to YouTube for the resetting time puzzle, I figured out I had to get the hammer, hook and weight for the third door but couldn't figure out the other two doors

 5. What's up with 1123 being on two of the locks? I don't remember references but pretty cool

 6. FINDING THE DIFFERENCES IN THE HALLS AT THE END OF FIRST DAY WAS SUCH A COOL PUZZLE I LOVED IT

 7. Purring cat.

 8. I tried to pinch william's nipples several times and it didn't work

 9. Kate you're so lovely just marry me atp

Hi I want to learn some BSL and perhaps some Welsh sign language (I've heard it's modified BSL?)

So first of all I am hearing, (although I do have this thing where I cannot make out whatever people say to me and always ask them to repeat themselves) and I am not British, I am Ukrainian and I moved to Wales when I became a war refugee, rn I'm doing A levels here :)

So I got my first kind of proper job as a barista, which also involves me taking orders. And usually our clientele does have hard of hearing people but they usually don't use BSL as their mode of communication, but today I did have a couple come in that used it.

I can learn the alphabet and stuff like hello goodbye no problem, I've done so with Ukrainian SL before but I just didn't come across people I could practice that with, but I also want to know just like what are some common polite hospitality phrases I could learn? Something like "card or cash" "we'll bring it over to you" "sit in or take away" "what would you like to order" "yes everything's good the payment went through" "sorry your card declined could you try again" "sorry I don't have the right change" "I'll clean that table for you in a second" "I'm very sorry I'll issue a refund for you"

And also maybe this is a stupid question but are there separate signs for mochas/cappuccinos/lattes/flat whites/cortados or should I finger spell them? Also are there signs for sauces like ketchup mayo mustard?

What extra/supercurriculars are useful for psychology?

I'll be honest I've only written one PS draft so far and it sucks, I talk about a book that's not even psych related... Idk. I'm such a lazy ass. Why is reddit saying that my flair doesn't say who I am? It literally does

Not sure if this is the sub but DSMdle anyone?

It's honestly the only thing preventing me from completely refraining from AI (because DSMdle is created by AI)

Some positive thoughts about it: really fun and makes me learn new stuff once in a while, I am wanting to go into uni to study psychology, sometimes I get surprised by how good my guesses are, and I rarely lose! (for comparison I lose at connections almost every week, especially when NYT includes USA-centred categoriess, or when they genuinely pull words out of their ass, do NOT mention pshaw to me). I like that it also includes the DSM description of the condition and the diagnostic criteria.

Some negative thoughts about it: I am against the use of AI, and sometimes the hints are absolutely horrid because of said AI. Usually how the hints go is "woman in 20s presents for low mood" "her friends say she's been acting weird" "*a very specific diagnostic criteria for something*"... Not always, but very often it's impossible to even make a guess off the first hint because it's way too broad.

Anyway here are my thoughts of the past 3 days!

24.07.26 >!Anorexia Nervosa!< 98% solve rate — I solved in 3, the average guess as of 0:44 in my time zone is 2,4 so I was above. honestly I could've guessed it in 2 but my brain wasn't braining. >!Amenorrhea!< was a new term for me, so I will confess that I cheated a bit today and despite knowing that generally >!stress and low body weight would cause you to lose your period!<, I did see on Wikipedia that >!opiates!< may also cause it so my first guess was >!opioid use disorder!<. For the second hint I guessed >!PMDD!< simply because there was nothing mentioned about >!eating habits!< yet so I was stumped. I'm surprised 39% immediately recognised the right answer!

23.07.26 >!OCD!< 99% solve rate — I solved in 3, a little below the average 3,2. I guessed >!insomnia disorder!< and >!PDD!< for the two first hints, simply because there are a lot of reasons to be late and a gf breaking up with you for being late isn't even related to >!OCD!<... I know that I was in the majority since the site doesn't show the percentage of people who solved it in two or less, so it's only a handful of lucky guesses.

22.07.26 >!adjustment disorder!< 57% solve rate —I solved in 6, above the average 4,2. I will say that I completely forgot about >!adjustment disorder!< and was guessing >!MDD, acute stress disorder, separation anxiety disorder,!< etc. Before coming to >!adjustment disorder!<. It is immensely funny to me that after hint 4 ">!Distress feels 'way bigger than it should be'; missing deadlines, can't stop ruminating about the split."!< 9% guessed >!RUMINATION DISORDER!< LMAO. I don't blame people though, I know that it's a lesser-known >!ED!<.

Found something people might want back.

I'll try to make it as vague as possible for my privacy, but in someone's room (probably fresher) there are two gift cards on top of a fireplace both from A (first letter of the name) to C (the person who lived in this room?). One card is a happy (19th) birthday and the other one is happy anniversary. They look quite worn out.

I just want to say, if you come by next year you might want to check this room. If you want me to put it in a safer place within reason, I can. Maybe you want me to pass it to the porter or idk?

I don't know your story so who knows, maybe those are bad memories, but they put a genuine smile on my face (sorry I read them). If you think this might be yours please dm me!

Update: I gave them to the porter

The world is...

Yesterday I was working and taking orders outside and saw a bumblebee on the pavement that seemed to not move. I only thought how cruel it is that they get overlooked by passers-by, killed by humanity's actions, and only get to spend a short time alive. I had to then bring out a second order and I saw it move. I sat down and let it climb onto my finger although I hate feeling insects on my skin, and lowered it into a small flower bed so that at least it could die in the shade of leaves and petals instead of crushed by feet or cars.

It's very sad to see such innocent creatures die. I don't know. Really worsens my suicidal feelings. I don't have as much sadness for uglier insects but the bees and the bumblebees are so vital for life to run the way it does. I'm sad I can't cry for them.

What are your thoughts on the unreleased songs?

It's mixed for me, I get why some of them were never released, either the period of the time they were written in or the topic just became irrelevant to will wood, "good all fashioned american depression" was later taken quotes from and used in other songs etc.

but some of them I DREAM were released, "Man I love being drunk" feels like it should accompany "front street" and "half-decade hangover" because they sort of morph each other into an alcoholism plot trio. "you are love" is just genuinely a BANGER i used to relate to it so much when I had a partner but ever without a partner now i just adore it. "can't wait to die" and "I'll never amount to anything" I don't care for as much, they're on the depressive side and I get that's likely why they weren't released, but "nobody" IS JUST SO GOOD I LOVE THE LYRICS AND THE MELODY TO MY FASCIA.

Anyway that is all just to spread propaganda of my all time favourite WW song: misanthropologist BUT not the ICID version, specifically the unreleased 2017 performed live at the queen version. If I was told I had 3 mins to live I'd ask the doctor to pull it up on youtube. If I was told I had an hour to live I would listen to it 20 times. If I was told I had a minute to live I'd listen to even a minute of it. It's so good. I wish it sounded more akin to that in ICID or at least kept all of the lyrics. (such as keeping "I like you can't you see" instead of "don't you see" but it was kept in the last chorus thankfully, keeping the lyrics "rearrange your features, the light shall have it's own fun, now try disarming me, ah yes you're charming, I've never felt like such a lie" which was completely cut out of ICID, and the line "I like the rythm it's a disco to me" was changed to "the rythm is a gospel to me" BUT I LOVED WHEN IT SAID DISCO.)

Does this art exist

I had a dream in which there was a distinctly Harukawa's artstyle depiction of teenage dazai off to the right side sitting fully turned away from the viewer

Thing is idk if I just made this up or if I'd seen it and then dreamed of it

My classmates are all at proms now and I'm not and this makes me feel stuck

So I'm a Ukrainian refugee, and in Ukraine schools are structured as optional kindergarten and optional kind of a pre-school year (for me it was coming to my future school at the same time as going to kindergarten but like in the evening and just doing some basic letters on how to read I think). Most people go to year 1 when they are 6 but sometimes they also go at 7 or later/earlier because our schools are less pressed about everyone in one school year being born at a specific time of the year. Years 1-4 is primary school, years 5-9 are technically secondary but we honestly just called them high school, after year 9 (at 14-15 years) people can choose to go to a college or a lyceum. Lyceum is just a school that has years 10 and 11, in y11 people do a national exam and then go to an undergrad at 17 (on average of course). I am in y12 in the UK but if I continued studying in Ukraine I would be in y11, and since our last day of school is the last Friday in May every year I'm seeing all of my new friends at their proms and graduating while I'm just bedrotting knowing that tomorrow I'll have to go to my sixth form again and study A2 content until the mid-July... I'm happy for my ex-friends, but they all feel much more grown up than I am purely because in September they will be going their ways, likely doing an undergrad, while I'll be in y13, legally able to buy alcohol, seeing kids that are 11 or 12 scream six seven or something else in the corridors.

Just some writing analysis kinnda on Charon's Obol

This is how I found out:

• stigma is a word with greek origins, meaning a mark (a scar through a burning metal I think) used on slaves.

• Charon's name comes from χαρωπός meaning "of keen gaze"

• The number 12 is quite symbolic in hellenism (think the twelve olympians) but in the context of the song I've associated it with Heracles' 12th Labour: to kill Cerberus (he had to ask Charon for a lift across Styx)

• The Past Within is inaccurate to hellenism (in the game there is a moment of placing two coins over a character's eyes which is a misconception of the funeral traditions of Charon's obol since it was a coin placed over the mouth)

My interpretation of the song plot in the end: the narrator is suicidal waiting to commit for a final time ("solemn as a bride" = prepared to go, dressed for a death "she was almost one of the girls who died in the house" = a failed attempt), the girls who have died have successfully crossed the river Styx which is metaphorically the house in the song but they've left the dogs behind (the Cerberus) who are now awaiting to accept the narrator. The narrator is dead, however they weren't able to put the obol on their own mouth after committing, so now they have to wander around the river Styx for a thousand years before being accepted into the underworld, and they have to learn to make it their own house, to learn to live in that realm, andbin the meanwhile find their own worth and reflect on life, perhaps becoming friends with the Cerberus in the process.

There are a few moments where I just wrote shit like simile and symbolism it was just to get into a spirit of my past self when I was analysing poems for literature exams, they can be ignored I'm not interested in them.

People that are planning to take a psych-related undergrad, what unis are you thinking of?

I'm in y12 so I'm really just considering which unis I would apply to, I would like to apply to Cambridge for PBS because I've been there more times than I've been to other unis and the whole town vibe is appealing to me unless I get horrible AS grades because their requirement is A * A * A so I'd ideally want to get AABB-AAAA for AS (because for wjec at AS you can't get A stars), the higher grades in maths because it's the required subject I do. If I were to apply I would probably apply for Queens' College, but I'd also be delighted with Pembroke, Magdalene (although they need a written submission), Emmanuel or Newnham. I would just PRAY to not go to Girton because their location is so far away from all the teaching sites.

I would also want to apply to Nottingham because for their undergrad degrees you can do a language course alongside (FRENCH MY SHAYLA) and it will give credits to your main course, the requirements aren't too high just AAA-A * AA (depending on if it's Bsc or MSci I think) and there's opportunities for study abroad! Also there are no subject requirements so me not doing chem/bio isn't a problem.

At KCL there is a course for Psychology and Criminology and there are no subjects required just grades A * AA but it's still accreditation by BPS so I could still go and work as a psychologist! Honestly I would quite like to experience working in a prison/jail and I love debating the ethics concerning anything law and prison related like Raine et al.

Again at Kent there is a course for psychology with forensic studies, requirements are only ABB, it's just we all know about the meningitis outbreak so maybeeee not.

There are like a lot of unis that I've looked for just plain old psychology

Edinburgh wants A * A * A,

Bristol (has psychology and a psychology with neuropsych!), Bath but I don't like Bath, UCL, LSE all want A * AA

Cardiff, Nottingham for psych with cognitive neuropsych, Durham, Manchester, Leeds want AAA

For Sheffield it's AAB but with a science subject and I don't do one :(

Well yeah here's my rant. What if in two years I'll be at one of themm...
