did they grow up around homophobia?

i am wondering how this impacts them staying closeted. my husband grew up in the 90’s in the rural bible belt. enough said on that. wondering how it’s impacted others. do you think homophobic homes or cultures worsens this? i feel like it definitely does. hopefully a discussion topic is ok.

what should my next read be?

hello fellow Ozians
i have just wrapped up the Dorothy Must Die series and enjoyed it. i also finished the whole Wicked series and loved it. i did these via audiobook as i read the classic Oz series on paper.

what is another good Oz book series to enjoy via audiobook? TIA!

triggered by women’s underwear thanks to crossdressing

my husband is a secret cross dresser and secretly bi (yes, i do mean crossdresser. not trans. i know the difference). this all came to light 6 months ago. after seeing all the images in his grindr of him crossdressing, i can’t bear to look at women’s underwear, even my own. thankfully i’ve worn boxers for women for years for comfort but any time i see my own actual panties i want to cry and have a PTSD-like reaction. he claims he never wore mine (and frankly he’s big and tall so idk if they’d even fit) but i am still scared he did. i only wear the frumpiest nursing bras since i can’t stand to look at prettier or “sexy” bras and im still nursing anyways.

i had to go into the women’s underwear section to get tights and had an anxiety attack. felt like i was going to pass out, pouring sweat, felt like my heart was beating out of my chest. i’m not sure if this is exactly the right sub for it but feels close enough. how do i work on overcoming this?

also, please no “just leave” “i could never” commentary. we’re in counseling. we have a kid so we are trying to work it out before true talk of splitting.

it happened to my parents too.

has anyone else seen it happen to their parents and then happen to them? it’s all too eerily similar.

my parents split when i was 12. my dad had been secretly cheating on my mom with a plethora of men. about 6 months ago, i come to find out my husband was cheating on me with a plethora of men.

my aunt informed me my dad likes to cross dress. my husband apparently does too.

my mom is an addict. my husband? an addict (alcoholic).

i feel like i should’ve seen it coming since my parents had the exact same thing happen. but no, i somehow missed it…

stopping night nursing

i really need to wean my 21 month old off of night nursing. we co-sleep and nurse to sleep and have pretty much her whole life. we’d finally got off nursing to sleep then her dad and i separated and back to it we went. lately she’s decided it must be some type of hate crime to remove the boob while she sleeps. if i try not nursing her when she wakes up at night she will scream and cry till she’s shaking and hyperventilating for 30+ minutes and doesn’t ever calm down. she’s done it for up to 90 minutes before i caved. she will not let anyone physically soothe her, doesn’t care if you sing her a calming song, and won’t attach to an object like a stuffie or blankie. she’s got a couple sleepovers with grandparents coming up and im frankly worried. help!

AITA for simplifying things?

i, 20 month old smart girl, call ALL my grandparents “papa”. mommy says that hurts grandmas feelings cause i know tons of name but won’t say grandma. mommy says i can say over 200 words, i should be able to say grandma. but i call many fruits “gamma” and will not disclose my reasoning. but obviously it’s much easier to just call them all papa so i don’t mix anyone up. AITA?

AITA because daddy’s plate is better

hello fwens. i, 20m F, smartypants cutie pie, have decided daddy’s plate is the best. he’s not around as much as he used to be which makes his plates even more better than mommy’s. something about making mommy sad? idk. i’m one. anyways, food on my plate and mommy’s plate is just so…normal. bleh. why would i bother even trying it? food from daddy’s plate is amazing. grandparents plates are even better. so, AITA for not eating my food? i also just got a new tooth which mommy somehow didn’t know based on my screaming and pouch guzzling.

i take my daughter (1.5yo) to a toddler music class for 12-24mo toddlers. i’ll preface that i’m not the only nursing mother and the instructor herself previously nursed for many years. there’s a grandma who comes with her grandbaby and she films the entire class. she doesn’t just film her own kid - she pans the camera to focus on other kids. this includes tantrums, nursing, etc.. i was nursing my girl during the designated wind down time in which many nurse their babies. this grandma pointed the camera right at me and recorded me breastfeeding. i’m uncomfortable with her filming the whole time class is happening to begin with…but nursing?? the teacher is gonna talk to her and agrees that filming someone nursing isn’t okay but holy crap. i don’t know what she does with these videos! i don’t know if she sends them out or posts online or what. idc about my kids face on social media but breastfeeding is just too far. is it illegal? cause if the grandma doesn’t stop after the teacher speaks to her im gonna tell her if it’s illegal. i live in NC, USA. i hate that i even have to deal with being filmed while nursing my kid in a mom group and worried about weirdos.
