Hi! So my baby is 5 months old in 10 days and we cosleep, she sleeps in the bed with us (everything is safe and it’s what works best for us because she’s an ultra velcro girl). She is also on me for every nap and every minute of her wake window, or else she starts crying and fussing.
She usually takes 4 naps in the day and they can last 20-35 mins. The problem is, that it can take me 1-1,5 hours to get her to nap even with her yawning and rubbing her eyes. She also gets red around her eyes when she gets tired, so I know she is tired, but she seems to fight super hard not to sleep.
At night she also wakes every hour. We have some better nights where she might only wake every two hours, but usually it seems like she is trying to fart or her stomach is what’s waking her up. We try to settle her with our hands on her belly or holding her feet, but usually she will escalate until i nurse her and then she falls asleep again. Lately even nursing hasn’t been helping her sleep and I might have to nurse her 2-3 times for her to fall asleep again.
So my question is, how normal is this? I read that cosleeping and breastfeeding usually means baby will wake much more often than bottle/ formula fed babies, is that true?
Is there anything I can do to help her connect her sleep cycles better other than nursing?
Does she need less naps throughout the day? Longer wake windows? How do you plan naps for fomo babies? (She will also cry and fight in a pitch black room).
I don’t want to sleep train and I don’t want to stop cosleeping, but i’m so sleep deprived that I have 3 swollen lymph nodes on my head and (i haven’t done a blood test yet) but I’m sure my autoimmune disorder is coming back in full swing, so it would be nice to get a bit more rest.
Hi all! So my baby has had really bad reflux and gas since she was about a week or two old, we’ve gone to the pediatrician about 4 times since she was born 5 months ago, so we tried a couple of things to make it better but nothing really worked any wonders. The pediatrician said she could start solids at 4 months, but we will wait for 6 months to see if her digestion matures a bit more because she is still having issues. She often still has gas pains at night but is fine during the day.
So my question is, if your baby had similar issues, how did starting solids go?
Did the reflux and gas get better, worse, stay the same?
What foods helped and what foods made it worse?
Any other advice you would have?
Hi all! So as the title already says, i’m looking for good and safe eating utencils and plates etc for my 5 month old who will soon be starting solids. I live in Europe (Austria), so any brand that is available here would be great!
So for a bit of background, my baby is 17 weeks old today and our start has been rough.
She has had reflux and gas since around 2 weeks and until 9-10 weeks would only scream during her entire wake windows. Around 3 months it started getting better, but the reflux is still quite bad, she throws up and spits up a lot and has issues burping (farting has become much better) but it’s still very clear she’s struggling. I’ve tried a non dairy, non fructose, no onions and garlic etc. diet for a month and started recently eating everything again, there was no big difference (pediatrician also tested stool for blood to rule out a milk protein allergy).
She has been extremely clingy since birth and until 9 weeks i could not put her down night or day, when she is awake now I still have to hold her the entire time or she starts crying.
So my questions are:
As she hates to be put down, she also hates tummy time. I try to get some in every wake window and there are times where we get a 1-3 minute head raise (with a pillow under her arms for support) but she doesn’t independently prop herself up or have any intention of rolling either direction. Although she has successfully rolled herself out of tummy time if her arms are in a good position to do so about 3 times recently. How important is tummy time? How can I get her to enjoy it more? I’ve tried it on my chest and she screams as well. She does like to be carried in a sitting position facing the room (so back against my chest) Is this enough? She is extremely stiff and if i lay her down she just balls her fists and holds them tighly to her chest.
she is not interested in toys at all and will only be entertained by something for a maximum of 5 minutes. She doesn’t smile a lot, she does stare at our faces and watch us speak or eat and track us when we cook or walk around the house. She also doesn’t smile at her own reflection very much, just stares or loses interest. I try to offer different toys or sing to her or read to her, but nothing really seems to interest her or make her happy or entertain her. I try to be super pateint and kind, but even I only have a certain amount of patience and I end up just picking her up and holding her in a sitting position in front of me, either walking around, sometimes speaking to her, sometimes completely silent and I’m worried I’m not fostering her development enough but I also don’t know how to when she seems to lack interest or joy in anything we do with her. How can I foster her development, am I doing enough? Should I continue just trying different things everyday even if she doesn’t show much interest?

Some days I really struggle and find motherhood so joyless and that makes me so upset because i want her to have a loving and happy life.

Any research on this or even personal tips are welcome!
Baby is 3 months old and my husband and I both have brown eyes (i’m adopted so i have no idea about my family eye color history) and my husband’s father has green eyes and his grandma has blue eyes. Also, sorry about the bad quality, she’s so squirmy, but her eyes have gotten lighter since birth with no signs of brown/ green or anything yet 😅
Hi there! My baby is 11 weeks old today and she has had horrible reflux since the beginning.
For the first 8 weeks or so, she would just cry whenever she was awake and she would only sleep on me, day AND night. I had to sleep sitting up in bed chest to chest with her because she would absolutely not sleep in the bassinet or even NEXT to us in bed. Since a few weeks she has been sleeping between my husband and I and the nights are quite okay other than the constant sleep crying to push out farts, but I can usualy quiet her down with a dream feed before waking up completely.
She can now be awake for a little while without crying, but does cry most of the time still. She rarely social smiles because she is constantly in pain. We’ve been to an osteopath and spoken to the pediatrician and midwife. we have a bunch of gas drops and stuff for tummy aches etc. but nothing seems to really work well enough for her to just have one quiet day at least.
Everyone says it should get better or stop at 3 months, but she’s a week shy of 3 months old, and there is not really an end in sight.
I’m pretty sure I’m developing PPD and my husband can’t hold her for more than 5 minutes when she’s screaming without getting frustrated. It’s so sad to see her so miserable, I know it doesn’t change anything, but seeing other people with their babies going to coffee shops and speaking to their babies happily on a mat or wtv is so gut wrenching, specially after having had 4 miscarriages before our little rainbow.
Life just feels so joyless right now and I also miss my husband and my cats (because our LO is such a velcro baby, I can’t spend time with or give attention to either).
So I wanted to ask, if you were in a similar situation, when did it get better?
