Challenged myself to 400k steps for September, that's me stepping back

I'm on a body Recomp and have been for 5 months, was aiming for 10k a day. That turned into 12, and then I've averaged 14 this month with largely inactive weekends (parenting time).

This will probably be my record for a while, losing weight and I'm aiming to maintain, loved the process. And will keep maintaining 10k.

Hope to see you out there.

38M, 76 -> 70kg - 4.5 months, no experience, trying to get healthy.

Started for health and longevity, inspired by my daughter, I'd like to stick about. Been running Recomp, but I may swap now to a slight bulk.

Missed 3 workouts to date (illness and work).

Obviously (to me at least) lacking in chest, and need to work there.

Overall very happy with my overall fitness compared to before, making strength progress and starting to see it in the mirror. Posting partly for accountability, and to keep me at it.

Hopefully see a lot more of you over the years.

Possibly wood pigeon? (UK)

Hasn't really moved in a few hours, beneath a dense tree, so maybe fallen, anything I should/can do? I've kept my distance for now.

If he stays there it's a matter of time until *cat*.

38M 20 weeks into recomp, am I doing this right?

38M 68.5kg - I'm definitely seeing progress, I'm generally happy, and I feel great, fat is coming down, and muscle is going up, but I'm not sure if I'm beginning to hit the balance now where my deficit (while very small now, I'm basically at maintenance minus exercise) is too large to build, and really I'm just cutting very slowly. Or maybe my expectations are off.

Composition wise, I need to work more on my chest and abs, I've switched up my split after 4 months to cater for that, I'm happy with my protein, I'm not aiming for big, just athletic.

Any advice where to go from here?

Lifting and novelty?

I've not been at this very long, 4 months. But I've the Dom's and aches largely faded after the first month, and only really returned after trying a new lift, something different, hitting a muscle from a different angle.

And I like the feeling the next day. Validates you've done some work. Do people shake it up for this reason or is it just me?

I don't know if there's value there, in changing it up to force growth, challenge the muscle, but even at that stage I'm at it feels like it?

First car at 38

Very late to driving, actually only learning still, and only because I have a 3 year old and I need to stop letting my other half taxi her about.

Yes this was a stupid purchase. Primarily the 2 doors. It's only the 1.4tfsi 2018, s-line auto, but I've just always loved them, and if not now, when.

Targeting arm width?

Is there something specific I should be doing to target the width of my upper arm? Or is it just latter tricep development? I'm pretty new, and my arms are growing but up not out, I'm sure it's normal, just want to check I'm not missing something fundamental.

Appreciate the help.

38M 14 weeks into recomp

Started from nothing (zero exercise, never been in a gym) primarily for health, down from 161lbs (73kg) to 154lbs (69kg) - 5'10" happy with progress on the strength and fitness side, but wondering if I should be committing to a bulk or cut instead of the recomp. Just looking for what you would do here.

Excuse my skin, I'm not unwell, it's eczema.

38M split advice

Trying to concrete my routine, been at it for 3 months and I've been changing things around too much, run this for the last week, and intending to stick to it, but anything you'd change?

38m, work 50 hours a week, 3 year old daughter, aiming for recomp, general health and functional toddler chucking stability.

Monday/Wednesday/Friday

A pullup variation (pull, chin or neutral)

Pushup variation (standard, diamond or decline)

Kettlebell squats

Kettlebell swings

Kettlebell curl to overhead

Halos

Lumberjacks

Something abs, so maybe a pull through, or mountain climbers, working on leg raises

Grease the groove on an exercise the rest of the day.

For 40 mins

80k+ steps a week.

10 week progress check, 38M, 5'10, 74kg

Hey all, potential throwaway account as this makes me uncomfortable.

Tldr:

I'm happy but just wanted to check with a group, I don't really have gym buddies.

Question 1: progressing as expected?

Question 2: problem areas to target? Chest feels the obvious choice.

Nearing 40, never been in a gym, was fit once upon a time (early 20s) but health is fading a little, metabolically blessed and never really thought about it but I've been pinging between skinny and skinny fat for years, and unfit. Father of a 3 year old, work 50+ hours a week (desk).

Pic one is about 2 weeks in, pic 2 today (AI used to combine images and blur face).

I'm working out from home, mix of kettlebell, weights and calisthenics. 3 days full body a week, and I usually grease the groove those days on pull-ups or press ups depending on the day. Rest days I just rest (well, parent...). Make sure to average 70k+ steps a week.

When I started I was on maybe 6 push ups, terrible form, hit 19 solid this morning plus a couple of sloppy.

Pull-ups, I couldn't. I managed a single chin up day one, now I can get 2 pull-ups, or 4 neutral grip/chin up.

Workout wise, pull-ups and variations with negatives, push ups, pike pushups (need to try dips), various upper body and full body kettlebell (swing, squat and press, halos, around the world and stop, overhead extension, upper cut), some barbell work for curls but not much anymore.

Started on a 10kg kettle, moved up to 14kg, likely move to 18kg next week.

Diet is probably my weakness, I'm not counting calories or macros, but am making healthier choices, and make sure to hit my protein, through whole foods, whey in the morning, and sometimes a bar or surreal cereal as a late night snack. I do drink... And smoke... They're on the hit list.

Supplements? Magnesium, zinc, whey, vitamin c and psyllium husk in the shake in the morning, a multivitamin, vitamin d and omega 3. Creatine (as of this morning so no effect so far). I've been phasing things in slowly, partially to try and fix my skin.

Fuck me there's a lot of information needed. Appreciate it if you got this far!
