Video quality has room for improvement - where did I go wrong?

OP3. Shot in auto, 3K60 I believe, with a Neewer ND filter set to 3/6. Standard color.

Background and even her pants are more in-focus than her face. Skin highlights and lowlights aren't there. I was able to improve the image a bit in post, but am curious to hear what others have to suggest. One challenge I faced was filming at close to noon.

Whoa, is Upwork bending a bit? Haven't seen a 5 connect job in a while

Now mind you their budget is a paltry $50, and their account was created today. Payment verified though.

Realtor walking tour - subject tracking or no?

Although this is overproduced, I'm aiming for a cut rate version of the attached. Filming with an OP3 in vertical 3K60. Hollyland wireless mic.

In tests, even with my slow moving dog, I notice that subject tracking is jittery. Projects I've filmed without it look better, and I reframe with no problem in-post, but it hasn't been a large sample size. Subject-tracking sure would be fantastic for ease-of-use on a shoot tomorrow.

Thankfully I'm working with a very understanding client so we may try a few different versions, but I'd love some advice from those with more experience!

The merge to one profile

Thought there'd be more chatter about this when it happened on May 28th. How have others handled this?

For me, they simply deleted my subprofile with my higher rate (videography), without saying a word. So I guess I won't be offering that through Upwork anymore. Their loss, as it was a much higher rate. I had one client still on the books, filmed for them twice, but we're beyond the two year window now so I certainly will be pulling them off Upwork if they need a third event filmed.

I wave adios to the hours I spent building and maintaining two similar yet different profiles.

My local fire dancers (OP3)

Wanted to experiment with low light scenarios. I set the ISO to go no higher than 3200 because 6400 seems hella noisy in past tests. "Low light" mode seems to be nothing that can't be replicated or improved upon in post, so this is just straight out of the camera color + VFX added with Premiere. Filmed in 3K60, edited 1080x1920.

The dancers liked it and I hope you do too.

Vertical creators - are you shooting 16:9 4K or 9:16 3K?

For those creating vertical content, are you shooting "3K" vertical, or 4K 16:9 and then heavily cropping in post?

The fine folks at ChatGPT make it sound like people are filming 16:9 and cropping because that's advantageous from a clarity perspective, but I don't think it is.

3840 x 2160...yes it's a safer shot and you have tremendous horizontal re-framing choices, but not much vertical if you're editing in a 1080 x 1920 sequence. 3K gives you a lot more pixels to work with, and you're framing your shots as you film. AKA, less keyframing in post.

But I think the issue is more with depth of field. When you're filming 16:9 wide, you're likely further back (and if you're not, why aren't you filming vertical?). You're losing potential bokeh and certainly clarity, right? And unnecessarily stressing auto-focus.

Curious to hear from others that are vertical-first with their workflow.

Subject tracking with Mimo...meh?

Example x 2 attached.

When I first got my OP3 and did initial tests with the subject tracking, I thought it was sweet. But then in recent recordings, of both my dog and humans, I'm noticing that it's consistently, moderately, jumpy. "Follow" mode used. Noticeable with heldheld footage (like attached) and tripod footage (taken in broad daylight - dog).

You can't see it happening in real-time because the OP3 and smartphone screens are tiny, but once you bring it into editing software, it's right in front of you. For whatever reason, this is most noticeable with side to side movement. Vertical tracking is either smooth or not-applicable.

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong? I also noticed the tracking gets down-sized and then lost way more often than you'd think. For example I was at an outdoor event recently and someone walking in front of the camera = instant track loss. People turning around would also result in track loss.

I'm using the most up to date version of Mimo, OP3 firmware v01.07.05.01, camera firmware10.00.55.15 and gimbal v01.00.15.81. Any and all assistance is appreciated.

EDIT: I was on slow with the gimbal (speed 1 of 5).

Turning down the aggressiveness of commas in auto-generated transcripts?

As my title says, is there any way to tell Premiere to chill out with commas? Per one minute podcast clip I'm removing a half dozen or so that are there simply due to normal speech pauses.

Today I had to remove two from a four word caption. Neither made sense to a viewer.

Any and all help is appreciated! I will use any version of Premiere to improve upon this issue, but am struggling now with v25.

Do any of you account for lens distortion when editing? (Sony a7s iii vs. OP3)

The cameras are comparing apples to oranges of course, but the lens distortion with my OP3 is noticeable when I stack two cameras like I did for this filming. The talent is noticeably rounder in the image on the right.

I'm curious, does anyone adjust their footage while editing to account for this?
