Volunteer hours for nursing

Hi everyone,

Im currently preparing my application for Sept 2027/Jan 2028 and have straight As in all my prereqs, first aid scheduled for July, Casper test scheduled for September, but I cannot for the life of me seem to get healthcare volunteer hours.

Im located in Langley, Ive applied to every hospital from Delta to Chilliwack except for Burnaby and Langley as they are not accepting volunteer applications right now. Still waiting for a few hospitals to get back to me but so far maple ridge, and delta have sent me notice I was not accepted as Im not a resident to those cities.

Im wondering what other volunteer opportunities would be eligible - Im hoping for something as "patient facing" as possible.

Any suggestions are super appreciated!

4 day routine?

Hows this 4 day looking?

Ignore the weights unless you see an anomaly. Some of these weights need to be adjusted, most of these arent accurate as they were decreased for higher reps during a recovery week.

Am I wrong to think Im focusing too much on triceps and not enough on biceps?

Everything is 4 sets.

Am I overworking anything?

Am I underworking anything?

A tiny bit of back work on Chest day as my back sets were lacking compared to Chest, and by adding a workout on Chest day they are now even.

There is a rest day between Legs and chest day.

Then 2 rest days after back. Repeat the next week.

SH/arms:

Abs roller

Lat raise 15 pounds

Rear delt fly 80 pounds

Dip Machine 180lbs

Close grip bench 55 pounds

Row machine

Barbell curl

Legs:

Hip thrust 140lbs

Seated leg curl 115lbs

Hacksquat

Legs extension 140lbs

Calf raises 180lbs

Chest/triceps:

RDLs

Incline smith 90lbs

Chest press machine 45lbs

Peck deck fly 100lbs

Lateral raise 15lbs

Tricep barbell ext 55lbs

Tricep cross extension 12.5lbs

Backs/Bi:

Hacksquat

Lat pulldown 50lbs

Row machine 140lbs

Lat pullover 40lbs

Lower back extension 25lbs

Barbell curl 40lbs

Rear delt fly 10lbs

Can someone help me calm down about student loans

Hi - I'll try and make this quick.

Im 30, looking to go back to school for nursing.

Ive calculated my cost, and im looking at about 177Kin total.

Tuition plus fees, textbooks etc: 40K

36K per year for living expenses, x 4 years = 144K (hcol area, cannot move back home, 100% independent no help available)

If I get accepted for Sept 2027, I should have about 130K in savings by then. I save on average 20 to 26K per year.

My concern is - Im worried I have too much money to get approved for a student loan for the remainder.

Is this the case? How do student loans work? Will they ask me about my savings?

Do I just need to accept that ill be at my miserable job for a few more years until I have enough?

I want nothing more than to be a nurse. Healthcare is my calling. I know it. But the program is demanding. The possibility of me working while going to school is slim to none. Even if I work during summer breaks, that won't be enough to get me through the remainder of the year. I simply need to be accepted for a student loan.

Go to "Vancouver Sushi" experience?

My dad is coming to vancouver and wants the "Vancouver Sushi" experience - high quality fresh seafood, high quality fresh sushi. Where would you recommend? Hell be staying in a hotel near Granville station. Im looking for suggestions other than Miku - as I already know about them. Open to anything between Burnaby and Vancouver.

PCP vs Nursing (lower mainland)

Hello!

Im currently exploring different avenues of Healthcare and am curious on some information while I make my decision; Im looking at Nursing, and PCP.

Im in the lower mainland (langley) and like most of us here, id prefer to stay. My understanding is the lower mainland is incredibly oversaturated with EMRs - what about PCPs?

If I were to go into PCP schooling immediately after finishing EMR, would I have a hard time finding full time PCP work in the lower mainland after schooling?

I feel like the stability of Nursing is much more promising, in the lower mainland. Is that correct?

4 years of school does seem daunting, however.

I know they are working on making the bridge from LPN to RN a little easier these days; what about PCP to RN?

Thanks!
