When I logged into Pronto today I noticed they sent a notification about their webinar on 8/20. Apparently it will be a time for questions about Pronto's new design as well as frequently asked questions. It looked like there were multiple time slots however the notification disappeared before I was able to screen grab it. If you were able to catch the time slots please comment them below for people who may be interested.
I’ve posted this before but it was inside of a specific thread and I’m realizing more people can benefit from it. This is a video (not my video) detailing exactly how your income will be calculated for housing connect lottery and rerental apartments.
Remember, you’re calculating exactly what you’ve sent it. So if you worked overtime and one check is larger than others. You can’t ignore that because it doesn’t happen often or you don’t plan to do overtime in the future. You want to calculate what they’re going to see the same way they’re going calculate it.
Quick clarification because I’m seeing a lot of people have confusion around this. NYCHA is not short hand for just any affordable housing unit. They are apartment buildings owned, operated and managed by the New York City Housing Authority Bureau of Operations. Your housing connect lottery apartment, or rerental apartment you found on street easy is NOT a NYCHA apartment/unit. Please stop spreading misinformation.
If there’s still any confusion about NYCHA developments I’m adding a link. It’s a complete list and map. NYCHA Developments
Log #s are available for Nevins Landing South at 417 Carroll St. good luck everyone.
MGNY just posted a new rerental listing. 2 beds, 60% AMI.
A few questions in regard to this rerental listing in case anyone has any info.
Does anyone know what day/time this was first posted? I originally saw it yesterday 08/04 in the AM. However the ‘apply now’ button was improperly linked. Instead of the online pronto application it led to opening a email. They fixed it after a couple hours.
Has anyone heard anything in regard to this? I’m log 76xx
For the past few months I was aggressively paying off any negative debts on my report. The only thing left are my student loans and a Navy Federal Secure Card that I opened recently and just made my first payment on. I received email offers from Capital One and Apple, it said I could apply without hurting my credit so I did and was declined for both. Capital one makes sense because I did just complete the terms of a charge off payment plan with them last month. I'm a bit confused on where to go from here, do I just give it more time? I don't want to sign up for any of the more predatory lenders but I do want to continue building my credit. For context I'm at a 612 according to Credit Wise.
Anyone know why there’s a cop car on every street. Was it a crash? The cars are from north 6 down to Lincoln market it seems.
First time playing stardew valley, just recently and slowly getting back into gaming so please be kind. I started playing stardew valley Monday and realized it would be better with a controller, I bought a ps5 controller that I can connect to my MacBook. The problem is the button mapping doesn’t seem to be working. At first it was buggy so I looked up trouble shooting instructions that told me to turn on steam input, then the controller stopped working with the game completely. I’ve tried disabling steam input and resetting but that doesn’t seem to be working. Any help would be great
Anyone know where they are in the processing for the 1 bedroom unit they posted a while ago (4HE)? I've reached out multiple times but in usual Pronto fashion they haven't returned any inquiries letting me know if they're currently processing an applicant, or where they're up to for the waitlist. Any info welcome, thanks.
It's been about one month since the last batch of applicants were asked for documents. Just trying to gauge where they are in processing for this apartment building. If you applied please leave your log, preferences (if any), whether or not you've been asked for docs. Along with any other updates anyone has.
I'm in the 66xxx range with municipal preference, and have not been contacted yet.
It’s not normally the people who frequent this subreddit but rather posters who seem to float in and out or just drop by but I’m very curious as to why people believe they deserve special treatment in this process. NO! You can not apply as a single applicant and expect to ask for a 3 bedroom when they reach your log. NO! You can not decide you don’t want to send in your paperwork and still expect to be in the running for a unit. NO! You can not do a bunch of overtime at work, blow through the AMI you qualified for and then expect HPD to ignore your increase in income. It’s almost as if people don’t understand there are so many of us in the running, people who read the guidelines, and will provide the necessary docs, and aren’t lying on their applications. We all want a nice/safe roof over our heads and you don’t get to just expect the agencies to give you a unit because you feel your circumstances are “special”.
Pronto just did a major overhaul of their site. You can now see all of your log numbers for any applications you've completed. No more phone calls and unanswered emails just to find out your place in queue.
TW: Sexual abuse. I'm going to try to keep this as short and concise as possible so if there's any additional questions I can answer them, I just don't want to provide a wall of text that gets away from me / my point.
My mother and I have been estranged for years, It goes back to my childhood around 6-7 When she married her ex husband my former stepfather, he was rapist and child molester. As a kid that age I saw them fight constantly but no matter what he did (hit her, rip the phone cords from the wall so we couldn't call 911, etc..) she always took him back. That being said I never said anything about the SA until I was in college. Something just broke in me and I couldn't deal anymore. I finally understood nothing would change unless I said something so I did. There were a few years between then and now that my mother was just extremely nasty, mean spirited, and would provoke and start arguments with me out of nowhere. I rationalized that she just couldn't stand having a quiet home after being abused for years and kept my distance. Fast forward to now, I've been heavily considering going no contact. My mother is an alcoholic and I've chalked a lot of what she's said and done over the years to that fact but recently new facts and my own resurfaced memories have come to light and things have shifted for me. 1. I found out my mother knew my former stepfather was a drug addict, I never knew this before now and it's completely changed the way I think about her. Why would you allow a known drug addict around your child? I confronted her about it and she said "well he never did drugs in the house." 2. For whatever reason it boils my mothers blood that I've never given her explicit details on her what her husband did to me, It isn't just her I've never been able to say a lot of it out loud outside of to a family housing court person (I was young idk their specific title). She's said and done things over the years that make me thing she believes I'm lying about the sexual abuse. On my 23rd birthday I decided to spend it outside of the house and she texted saying "I guess *blank* kidnapped you". She doesn't remember doing this, but not remembering is her default for a lot of cruel things she's said. 3. During the time of the abuse, maybe 9-11 my mother started randomly saying things like "Your always taking his side I know the two of you must be fucking" to me about my stepfather. I was never taking his side I was trying to defuse and not have her arrested for disorderly conduct in the street or cause a brawl at home. It was disgusting and cruel then but not as adult it makes me seriously wonder if she knew, I also found out my grandmother and a neighbor had suspicions but my mother never did anything about it. I confronted her about that as well and she said she asked me if anyone bothered me as a child and I told her no. I did tell her no and that I'll always regret but again, I was a scared to death child in a situation where I'd seen the cops do nothing again and again and again, not because they didn't want to but because they couldn't. 4. and this is the tipping point. My mother has a new boyfriend. There's something off about him I can tell by the way he constantly pushes the boundaries of my mother and the home but that's neither here nor there. Living with a man (specifically a stranger) makes me uncomfortable. I've told my mother this and her response was it's her house she'll do what she wants. I'm in the process of moving, that's settled and won't change the only reason I've stayed this long is because my mother shows signs of depression and I was always afraid of how that would manifest if I wasn't here while she drank everyday.
Anyways I'm moving soon and considering going no contact and this has caused friction. My mother says im punishing her for something she didn't do, that I'm punishing her for what my stepfather did to me. I don't see it that way but hearing it constantly is starting to grate on my mind. Am I punishing her for something she didn't do? I don't think I'm punishing her at all, I just want to be free.
Hello everyone! I'm still in the process of being approved. I may not, I know it's strict. But I'm kind of glad it's taking a while as I'm really torn between where I am now and moving if I get approved.
I currently live in nycha housing. It is a brownstone. I've lived here since 2018. The neighborhood feels safe, with multiple train lines, and everything is within walking distance. Stores, pharmacies, restaurants. But my apartment leaks often. My floors are broken. Walls need plastering. I've probably been breathing in some gnarly shit.
Willets point seems a little more vacant. And I'm worried about the noise from Citi Field and the trains.
Can someone who's currently been living at the Willets Point Commons tell me if they like it? The neighborhood, their experience with the 7 train. The noise. And if they, too, have concerns about the contaminated soil that it appears to be built on?
Thank you in advance for anyone who replies 😊
If anyone’s interested. Currently a 40% AMI 2 bedroom on Resides air table.
Has anyone been contacted for docs? toured? any/all updates welcome.
I'm moving and so I have a lot of stuff that's in the in-between area of worth something but not worth a lot. For example, old recovery and workout equipment, most of which is lightly used or brand new. An enamel pin collection. Jeans and Pants that have been worn for years (mid range designer stuff). A LOT of vinyl toys, statues and figures from pop culture, anime, and small art/toy designers/brands.
I have most of it listed on eBay and there's a lot of watchers but not a lot of sales, I think its because I have the stuff priced reasonably but shipping is still around $5-7 bucks for most.
Anyways is there any place to sell this stuff in person? not looking for fancy curated shops or vintage booths or anything of the sort. Just flea market, garage sale vibes.
Over the past 6 months or so I've seen a rise in AI generated photos used on Housing Connect. I'm not looking to argue the ethics of AI with anyone but when It comes to housing specifically it feels super disingenuous to have a listing of completely AI, or at the very least AI upscaled imagery. If you're not familiar, check out the Nevin's Landing South listing.
I'd even prefer if they just waited the few weeks it would take to get real photos done to put the lottery up. If the facade of the building isn't actually done it's not like it changes the timeline for prospective renters.
