EDF SEG - Error

If this post isn’t allowed, then please remove.

I was with Eon Next and like most, have ditched them now my tariff has come to an end and jumped ship to EDF.

Unfortunately when trying to register for SEG on EDFs site I get the following error message.

Anyone else got this? Have emailed their support team.

Thanks

Wrongly delivered parcel - delivered by Good Samaritan.

My wife ordered her various lotions and potions from Boots. It was about £60 worth.

She was informed by the online tracking that Royal Mail had delivered it this morning and quickly realised it had been delivered to the wrong address.

Naturally she was rather annoyed and upset. Boots said they needed to investigate for 21 days before they could send a replacement out.

We drove round and round looking at the bottom corner of front doors to try and match up the delivery photo to no avail.

Just now a very elderly chap (with very poor mobility) knocked on the door. He had the parcel and had driven 40 odd minutes to deliver it to the correct address.

He said that when he sees his usual postie next week, he’s going to give him a voucher for specsavers - made me chuckle.

Very kind and wholesome. Restored my faith in humanity.

Inside job?

So, there is a certain user on eBay who is well known for purchasing cameras.

Each purchase ends up being disputed with the user receiving a full refund. The user claims he never received the item. The tracking updates to the local delivery office but never shows as “delivered”.

This guy is well known for it and there are plenty of posts on forums about him.

My question is, is this an inside job? I.e He is a postie or is in cahoots with his local postie?

Because it’s odd that the tracking stops updating once the item gets to the local delivery office, each and every time. Typically items get delivered and you get a photo and gps coordinates.

I can’t see how this user would get around that without making sure the final delivery scan wasn’t carried out?

Electrolux Fridge Freezer - Too cold UK

Electrolux Fridge Freezer (Intergraded) two years old and just out of warranty.

Fridge has spent the last two years happily set to 4° and never been an issue. Recently the top of the fridge is accumulating ice. Food is ending up frozen.

Not sure where to start in terms of diagnosing the issue. Can’t seem to find a thermister anywhere - inside the fridge is a control panel but that is just a pcb with a few capacitors etc.

Fridge js model LNS5LE18S

Any ideas or is it beyond repair.

Royal Mail - tracking down?

Sold a few bits recently. Sent out via Royal Mail. No updates to the tracking at all.

Also had a few parcels myself from other retailers which have been delivered but are still showing as “we are expecting it” on the Royal Mail site.

Anyone else having this issue? Bit worried as the five days will be up soon! Hoping it will update soon.

I appear to have been overlooked by the drug community

Growing up in the 90s, I was repeatedly warned that drugs would be offered to me and to always say no.

As an adult, I now found myself feeling as though I’ve been significantly overlooked by the drug community for most of my adult life.

Can anyone else relate?

How my Saturday went…..GPR roof repair

So, after the blistering heat a few weeks ago, our GPR flat roof decided to crack and blister in one particular spot. I think this is where the builders had used some sort of filler to repair it previously.

I thought I’d attempt a DIY repair as moneys tight and the last thing I need is water coming through into the kitchen.

First, I removed the loose chunks exposing the fibreglass substrate underneath, before giving it a good sanding and extending the sanded area to about 30mm proud into a large square patch.

I then wiped it down and removed all the dust and debris before using a fibreglass repair kit to make a large square patch. I tried to build it up so it was fairly level from where the holes were.

Once this set, I sanded it back and used a grey roofing paint that is fibrous. Unfortunately the same top coat that was used on this roof is only sold in 10kg drums and is well over £150 a tub. Which I couldn’t justify. So the colour match is er…….well off…….

Appreciate this is far from an excellent repair and no doubt plenty of roofers will tell me how it should be done. However, I am pleased with it, even if it’s only a temporary repair for a few months.

All in all, it’s set me back £35~.

That’s how I spent my Saturday afternoon, how’d you spend yours?

The 5x Modem Mode post

You may have seen some weeks ago a post on here stated that they had been told by VM that the 5x was soon to get modem mode.

Sensing this wouldn’t be the case, I reached out to think broadband who have ran some articles about it in the past.

They spoke to their contacts at VM who advised it’s not on any roadmaps currently and basically not happening anytime soon.

So as I expected, someone at VM has been chatting shit. Probably to appease the OP who queried it with them.

Given we are several years in, I think we just have to accept it is never coming and to invest in the sfp module and call it a day.

What is going on with VV CS?

Just a moan really. But my god, dealing with Virgin Voyages Customer Service is painful!

Rang up to sort two things:

  1. First to pay for a higher cabin category on our next sailing.
  2. To find out about a refund that we never received.

Been on the phone now for over an hour. Going around in circles. The lady doesn’t appear to know what she’s on about saying that Virgin now has a mandatory $700 penalty to change any booking - yet the terms and conditions make no reference to this?

I’ve asked to make a complaint/speak to a supervisor as I’m trying to understand this new “penalty” and she is telling me that I’m not allowed to speak to anyone else about this and it isn’t possible to make a complaint?

Honestly, I’m so over them. They used to be great but it’s painful now.

I will send an email to the CEO telling him my experience (if I can find his email) but man, why’d they want to trash what was brilliant cruise line.

The enshittification of Virgin Voyages continues. 😔😔😔

Sticking plastic beads around your crotch.

I remember in 2010 everyone was talking about Vajazzling. It was the latest fashion trend. However you don’t hear about it anymore.

Is Vajazzling still a thing or have people finally stopped sticking plastic beads around their private parts?

Dog shit can make you blind.

I remember in the nineties people said that dog shit could make you blind if you got it in your eyes. But you don't hear about it at all nowadays. Has dog shit changed, or have people just stopped putting it in their eyes?

Unvented Cylinder - Annoying me.

So, had a new unvented cylinder and heating system fitted two years ago.

The tank is a 290L~ Range Tribune XE unvented cylinder. It has an internal air bubble that helps with the water pressure.

Since having it fitted, every year when the plumber comes out to service it, he recharges the internal air bubble (and has shown me how to do it).

Anyhow, for some reason when we go on holiday, we turn the hot water off (as in the boiler) but when we get back and I turn the hot water on and after ten mins or so it becomes apparent that the air bubble has gone (due to rubbish hot water pressure) and the turndish is dripping. I then have to wait an age while I recharge the air bubble.

Is this normal? So it’s been sat cold for nearly three weeks and just got back today and had to recharge the air gap.

Day to day it’s fine. Just when we go away and leave the hot water off.

If so, any solutions?

TIA!

TLDR; OP had new unvented cylinder fitted and heating system two years ago. When he goes away for two/three weeks and leaves the hot water off, when he comes back, the internal air gap has gone and needs to be recharged.

OP wants a solution to avoid this and to check its normal behaviour.

Our last voyage

Not much point to this post but to rant about how VV has gone downhill in recent times.

- we had issues with our cabin ac. The engineers came out once and refused to come out again. Even with the deck manager was in agreement that something wasn’t right. We even offered to wait for the engineers so we can show them the issue, but the engineers refused as they “don’t speak to sailors directly and won’t go in the cabin to confirm the issue”. So we have been left with no working AC. We spoke at lengths to a chap at SS who said he’d personally follow up with us and would speak to the engineers. We never heard back from anyone and the engineers never came back.

- Shower drain was blocked/really slow at draining. We reported this to SS. No one attended. It has been blocked for the duration of the voyage. Thankfully it’s usable if you’re quick with having a shower.

- WiFi (premium) has been terrible - remember the days when the basic free WiFi was good enough for streaming?

- We got back and our cabin wouldn’t unlock. Went to SS and a lady came up with us. She tried activating a new wearable to no avail and asked for someone to attend. When someone attended (with the lady from SS present) he stated “it was our fault for trying to unlock the door so many times” erm, no I don’t think so. We each tried it once as asked by the SS rep. He stated that we must of had the door open and tried to unlock it multiple times.

At this point I looked to the SS rep and asked if she could confirm we hadn’t done this. Which she did.

They rebooted the door lock remotely and we were in and left us with the parting message of “don’t try to unlock it multiple times as it locks the cabin”.

Someone else from VV stated it was an issue with the door panels battery but they wouldn’t be able to change it until disembarkation. So we may get locked out again and if we did, to go to SS - great!

- Then we couldn’t purchase anything, so back down to SS to be told “there is nothing wrong with your account/wearables are you sure you can’t purchase anything?” Erm, well yeah, I didn’t come down for a chuckle.

In the end it was sorted by going into pink agave and showing the error message that came up at the bar to SS in which they resolved it by giving us another set of wearables.

- At this point, we were pretty fed up and asked if we could provide some feedback to a manager. We were told that we’d have to come back at 6am tomorrow morning. Yeah right, like I am getting up at 5am to meet a manager for 6am! I’m on vacation!

- we requested a laundry collection at about 15:00 and came back at 23:00 to find it still sat by the cabin door. Called SS and they stated it was collected and it’s too late to collect an additional bag. Despite trying to explain the bag was still here, they couldn’t seem to understand our issue.

- I was sat reading on the balcony and suddenly the light went out. No problem I thought, I will turn it back on via the switch inside. Tried it. Nothing. Called SS who advised it’s now their policy that all external lights are turned off at 22:00 and it might be worth picking up a torch at the next port. This did make me chuckle.

- Qualify for free coffee onboard. Saw that $1.80 had been charged each time. While at SS I mentioned this. After much back and forth they found the system had charged us incorrectly and must be a “bug” in the app, but rest assured it’s all sorted. Unfortunately it hasn’t been sorted but couldn’t be bothered raising it again.

VV has been our favourite to date but the service isn’t what it once was and every small issue seems to be met with either blaming some other team, who in turn refuses to solve the problem as it’s not their teams responsibility or just what feels like no issue with solving the problem for us.

We have another sailing booked with VV in a few weeks time, which we’ve decided will be our last. I am not sure which liner we will try out next. Maybe MSC Yatch Club or Celebrity.

I’d much prefer it if VV jacked the prices up and kept it consistent in terms of service, then trying to cut back in every area. It’s a huge shame and one I find to be absolutely gutting!

We’ve enjoyed the good times while it lasted!

Just a rant…..but my god, the amount of people tipping onboard is insane!

I see people tipping every time they are served a drink, after a meal etc.

I fear the end is in sight. What once made Virgin so great is at stake. We will end up in a situation where you are expected to pay gratuities to VV and then tip the staff onboard.

Don’t get me wrong, the staff are lovely and are at the heart of making VV so special. But please stop tipping. Once upon a time it was frowned upon by the staff, now it seems openly accepted.

Can we just stick to buying the staff a small gift when they go over and above to help you? Like some nice chocolates or something from one of the ports/home town. The survey shoutouts etc.

Not hard cash. 😔

I hope I’m not alone with these views!

Currently onboard Scarlet Lady. They are slowly refitting all of the carpets in the cabins. I guess the originals were starting to look a little too stained…..it’s that Bolognese from Ship Eats! If you know, you know 😅

Slightly different design/pattern. I like it. Suspect it will hide stains better moving forward!

Just some VV gossip…..

Currently onboard scarlet lady. Talking to the staff, they mentioned last week the ship was full of various TikTok “influencers” at an exclusive event which was paid for by Virgin, in a hope or expectation they get plugged on social media by said influencers.

Staff seemed pretty burnt out from it. Apparently the influencers made a hell of a mess and were drinking until 7am and the staff were told by VV to stay on and keep serving.

Interesting that VV seems somewhat desperate to try and muster up more sailors from a younger audience. It sort of feels they are doing a 360. Previously they marketed the cruises to young people and made it seem like VV was a party ship, then they toned it down, and now they are going back for the wild party ship vibe. Will be interesting to see what content comes out from it.

Anyway, thought I’d share some VV gossip.

Have a good one 🤙
