Vote of no confidence in CEC chair passes, then declared unconstitutional. Two people resign.

It has been hard to find coverage that isn't emotionally charged or clearly supports a particular faction, so input from alternative sources is welcome.

>An emergency CEC was called to consider motions of no confidence against Forbes, Aspinall and membership officer Cassie Bellingham. It was initiated not by the critical Grassroots Left but by The Many supporter Jo Rust. This 12 July meeting was boycotted by the narrowing band of Corbyn supporters but was, nonetheless, quorate.

>The results of the no-confidence votes were 13 to oust Forbes, 12 against Aspinall and 11 to remove Bellingham

>The response of the Corbyn clique has been to double down. They declared the meeting unconstitutional. A CEC meeting was convened with Forbes in the chair, where she made the bizarre ruling that no-confidence votes can only be taken at the AGM, effectively making them impossible. She then effectively prevented any procedural challenge to her ruling, removing the ability of the meeting to take any decision over than those allowed by the chair. A large number of CEC members walked out, making the meeting inquorate.

>The clique now running the party has also sought to silence the CEC by requiring members to sign a non-disclosure agreement legally binding them not to comment on the CEC’s or officers’ actions. Anyone refusing will effectively be removed from the CEC.

https://workersliberty.org/story/2026-08-09/your-party-inactivity-crisis

>Your Party spokesperson resigns from officers’ group

>"Over recent months, a number of serious concerns relating to legal, compliance, data protection, governance, liability, insurance, and organisational standards have been repeatedly raised. In my view, these concerns have too often been ignored or dismissed. I have also found the culture, lack of effective leadership, and perceived double standards to be deeply disappointing."

>"On 12 July, I supported a vote of no confidence in the Chair, Secretary, and Membership Officer. That motion was passed by a clear majority. The subsequent refusal to recognise the outcome of that vote, together with continued manoeuvring, negative briefings, and pressure to disregard the democratic will of members, has further eroded my confidence in the current leadership."

https://www.thecanary.co/skwawkbox/2026/08/04/your-party-noor-jahan-begum-leaves/

>Liverpool’s Sam Gorst resigns from Your Party

>"On 12 July 2026, I supported the requisition of a Special Meeting of the Central Executive Committee for three reasons. Firstly, the continued lack of progress within the Party; secondly, information I had received from the Data Protection Officer which caused me significant concern; and thirdly, the increasing pattern of unilateral decision-making by a small number of individuals without consultation with the Central Executive Committee as a whole."

>"I was equally disappointed by the conduct of elements of the slate that lost the internal elections. Rather than accepting the democratic outcome and working constructively, there appeared to be repeated attempts to delay, obstruct and filibuster proceedings. Internal loyalties and personal positioning too often took precedence over building the party and meeting members’ expectations."

https://www.thecanary.co/skwawkbox/2026/07/19/your-party-gorst-resigns/

It is disconcerting that both resignations mention legal and data compliance as issues.

Documents and emails relating to the meeting have leaked:

>In a brusque email [Corbyn] accused the CEC members of “destructive behaviour”, being “addicted to infighting”. He claimed that “any sense of natural justice” had been denied to the rejected officers — who, remember, had just suspended three members for attending a socialist event:

>"At my request an email was sent to the CEC to consider contesting the Clacton by-election. Less than a third of CEC members even bothered to respond. Very few CEC members participated in the Trade Union Commission meeting on Friday night. We are a group of people who collectively have deep ties in the trade union movement, but the event seemed of less interest to many than internal politics."

>"I am very sorry that any sense of natural justice was denied to Jenn, Dawn and Cassi when they were subjected to an illegitimate vote of no confidence, without a right of reply, at a short-notice, ad-hoc meeting to which not all CEC members were even invited."

>Angry CEC members have said that the disinterest in the Clacton by-election was driven by a feeling that Your Party should not stand, to avoid dividing the anti-Farage vote. Also, they feel unwilling to engage with the CEC under its current management and that Corbyn is refusing to acknowledge just how serious the situation is.

I wish there were diagrams of the Evangelions and other equipment

It doesn't have to extend to full detailed cutaways, I don't need to see the Eva's guts. But even stuff like the below:

https://preview.redd.it/05e7tua7b6ih1.jpg?width=934&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=43de8b554756a1a6a0b484d010a79d803f1b5576

Like the shoulder fins on the Evas, they're so prominent in the design. What are they? Unit 0 has jump jets in her's, Unit 1 has the progressive knife storage, Unit 2 has those CQB spike blasters, but what else? Are they heat sinks? Restraining bolts?

What about that big horn on Unit 1? Is it to conceal transceivers and antennae or was it some uncontrolled growth that occurred when they were cultivating the biological parts?

The little flavour text and captions you see on similar books in Star Wars, Star Trek, Avatar, etc adds so much. Like a diagram of the Nerv control room saying here's the emergency egress routes, here's a back-up generator that connects to the Magi, these balconies are armour-plated and contain small arms cabinets for counter-intrusion, this is where the satellite analysts who feed data back to Aoba & co sit, etc.

Shame the merchandising never went in that direction.

For those that went, what were Summer Camps like as a kid?

Autistic myself, but only ever encountered the concept of summer camps in American media.

To me they sound like hell, all my familiarity and routine suddenly taken away and then having to speedrun making friends and forming cliques. I remember overnight school trips being bad enough without everyone being strangers and it lasting for weeks at a time.

Interested to hear people's experiences.

S05E06 "Taking Control" doesn't get enough love

Understandably "Save the Cat" tends to hog a lot of the attention as it happens right before, but it's one of my favourites.

It has one of the best action scenes of the series. It's kinetic, it makes good use of the space setting, and it is by far the strongest we have seen She-Ra.

https://i.redd.it/9gj9xxah5b6h1.gif

It's also the episode where Adora is openly simping for Catra. Rather than subtext and buried under the setting of the Rebellion vs Horde, it's just her having big feelings for the cat love of her life.

So much tentative hand squeezing! All turned up to 11 now that we have Don't Go fleshing it out and knowing this happens just after the episode ends:

Art by ND Stevenson, https://xcancel.com/Gingerhazing/status/1264350073158156288

We get Adora's new transformation sequence. We get our first look at Catra as part of the BFS. We see Wrong Hordak finding his new role as lovable humour bean. Bow steps up his tech-master role as ship's pilot. And Glimmer's also here :p

It is also the absolute muscliest we see She-Ra drawn:

Lower Decks comics address fate of the Enterprise E, or "what Worf did"

https://i.ibb.co/LD3YMrZF/asd22.jpg

The storyline is somewhat hard to follow, but long and short of it is the Cerritos crew are battling a mysterious ship and the Enterprise E swoops in as cavalry with a malfunctioning cloaking device that cloaks and uncloaks the E at random.

An attempt to beam over a boarding party goes wrong and the entire crews of all ships, including the E's, are beamed over to the enemy vessel. During this time the E permanently recloaks and drifts out of range with no way to find it (>!I think they could find it if they really tried!<). Worf caps it off with a classic "It was not my fault!"

>!Personally I wish they'd dealt with the E when it appeared in the Lower Decks series finale. Right next to the multiverse anomaly at the end it could have caught a stray hit that transmogrified every inch of the ship's hull into a mishmash of all the different multiverse Enterprises, a bit like what happened with the Klingon ships and Cerritos earlier in the episode. Preestablished consequences, thematically in keeping with the show's spirit of wacky screwups, and a way to thoroughly write-off the E without the drama of being lost in a big battle. Would have been a nice contribution to canon to send the show off on.!<

>The Bulwark reached out to both the State Department and the White House this morning with a request for comment. A State Department spokesperson asked us for deadline extension as they were "looking into" the inquiry. We gave them an additional two hours. In that time, Fox News published an "exclusive" on the new passport design. A White House spokesperson then sent us an email response confirming the new design "on background" with a link to the Fox News story.
