Buying BF in America

So clearly Europeans are ahead of the curve on us, but thankfully the American market is improving.

The hardest part of the transition is finding what shoes work for you. It’s very hard to find stores you can go into to try brands and sizes out. I’m going to compile two lists, 1) local stores that carry BF, and 2) ease of purchasing and returning shoes thru online orders.

Please add your experiences and stores to help the community!

STORES:

  1. REI - Carries limited Vivo and Xero styles in store, as well as Alta. If you have a membership, there are more styles online (sometimes in the Outlet store). I have REI close to me so returns are as easy as dropping by the store. I’ve not tried to return thru postal mail.

  2. Whole Earth Provision (Texas Based) - Carry Vivo, Xero, and Alta

  3. Nomad (Grapevine, TX) - Carries several Lems models, no shipping available that I’m aware of

  4. Allways Barefoot (Austin, TX) - Many BF brands. Online ordering is available. If you need to return a pair, contact them directly and you can purchase a shipping label from them.

ONLINE:

(Returns valid if the shoe isn’t Final Sale)

  1. Vivo - Returns are done thru Happy Returns, super hassle free and easy. However they won’t honor “exchanges” in the US.

  2. Lems - Happy Returns as well

  3. Xero - Happy Returns

  4. Splay - Unsure, I’ve not returned anything I bought from them.

  5. OOFOS - Okay, NOT barefoot shoes, but I have found that they are very accommodating for splay! I use these for recovery days when I need a little cushioning. Easy returns, I believe with a UPS scan code.

  6. Amazon - Carry limited styles of Saugaro, Whitin, and Hobibear with easy Amazon returns. Which I’ve heard on this subreddit that going thru the Saugaro website for returns is a hassle.

  7. Sierra - Carry limited styles and sizes of Vivo and Xero. I’ve not tried to return anything thru them tho. AND you can find discounted Ininji toe socks as long as you don’t mind some crazy colors, lol.

🥲 Made me tear up hearing her say this

Also, is this going to be the Brand Safe sub now or is there a new one?

Jaime opening for Bobby

Jaime opened for Bobby in Dallas and honestly… he kinda crushed. His jokes were super local tho, so not sure that he’s opening for him anywhere else.

Also, Bobby was hilarious. I’ve seen him with Bad Friends and Adam Ray Live before, but never a full set. Not sure why people say his comedy isn’t good, it’s very Bobby coded. If he does the same jokes, I guess you don’t want to see him over and over again. But it was worth every penny for me.

My feet are so dumb!

I’ve been working on strengthening my feet and fixing my gait for a little over 6 months now. It takes so much time and intention; I'm just here to rant. (And possibly get some motivation or advice.)

For context, I've played sports my whole life and have always had foot and ankle pains and prone to ankle injuries. I've never been a barefoot person because I don't like to get my feet dirty, but...

I was a lifelong flip flop wearer so I developed the bad habit of turning my toes down when I lift my foot (in order to keep the flop on my foot. Trying to retrain my brain not to do that is still a struggle even tho I wear sandals that are all the way strapped up and secure now.

I also have very high arches and was brainwashed into thinking I need strong arch support my whole life (it’s fine if you do, but it did not do me any favors). My left arch is especially higher than my right, so somehow I developed a habit of rolling my left foot out slightly to “protect” my arch. So I have to intentionally make sure I’m ending my step to include my and upper right ball of my foot.

On top of all of that, I have a heel strike so I have to be sure to “set” my heel down.

It’s just A LOT. And I walk A LOT everyday. I’m just venting because at my middle age it’s frustrating that I didn’t have the education or shoes I needed all of my life to not be dealing with this right now.

I feel like I make good progress at times but I'm still working on replacing my traditional shoes (BF shoes are so expensive!) so finding the right shoe and brand for the right activity and terrain has been trying. God bless whoever recommended Xero Genesis sandals because I can be "pretty much" barefoot most of the time now that the weather is warmer. They've also helped me become more mindful of not turning my toes down. I walk on a lot of concrete so my Altras are clutch for those times. And for general or casual use I really like Lems.

If anyone has any tips or tricks to help with my gait, I'll definitely take them! Or if there was a particular YT video that made it all click for you, that would be helpful as well.

Chat Activity on Monday 05/11

Alright, now I'm just being nosey... lol. Something was going on in the Live Chat last night. Baron kept stopping the show to make adjustments at the behest of Daisy. Who was in the Live Chat that can share the tea?

Mod/Community Drama

I’m linking this comment from my previous post because this was the most insightful info.

I watch the Live shows and send an occasional SuperChat but I don’t hang out in the comments ever so this is the stuff I’m oblivious too.

If anyone has any info to piece this puzzle together it is greatly appreciated. I’m just trying to figure out who I can and cannot trust now. Too much shady stuff going on amongst the larger CK Investigation community.

So what I’ve gathered just from Superchats is that Baron removed some Mods a couple of weeks ago. Does this have to do with whatever live chat drama spilled over from Coach’s podcast? I also don’t watch Coach.

I know it has something to do with AdFleet and XIlliminati (who I gather his real name is Lance) and possibly Daisy?

On X, Travis (@exnihilo) and Project Constitution have posted inflammatory things about AdFleet.

WHICH I find suspicious because it’s clear that Baron and Travis work someone closely. And I’m starting to suspect that Project Constitution might be on Candace’s payroll. He’s made it to her comment segment a couple of times and he suspiciously always knows when she is about to post so that he can be the first comment. I could see Candace using someone like PC to post wild stuff and get a feel for the response.

So if someone has inside info, please fill me in!!!

- what happened in Coach’s chat?
- when and why did he turn on AdFleet?
- who was posting “Free Fleet” in Candace’s live chat?
- what happened to Barons Mods?
- what happened in Barons chats?

I really don’t believe that AI use was the issue bc there are SO many AI channels on YouTube. I think AdFleet’s channel got reported so much because of this stirring drama that YT took it down. Which makes me really question Baron for making up a long AI story as to why he removed the intro song and all of AD’s content from his channel.

Adfleet

So did Baron take down her song because he knew everyone was about to turn on her on X? And he made up some long story about AI violations??

Things are getting real shifty, y’all. Idk if I can trust anyone. Like, I can’t believe Candace retweeted Blake’s arrest records but she gave everyone shit for bringing up Mitch’s past… what is even going on??

Help deciding: Keep or not

I bought these with the Vivi 50 coupon. I hike a lot with my dog, but it’s in Texas so nothing crazy rocky or high elevation.

I’m right in between an 8 and a 9 (26.2 cm) so I sized up to accommodate hiking socks. I’m a female but I bought a men’s size for the width (I’m 9.5 cm wide) as I read women’s Vivo are exactly 9.5 cm wide and I wanted extra room).

Out of the box I tried them on without socks and had a good thumbs length and more of space in the toe so I panicked. But once I put socks on it didn’t seem so bad. Still roomy but that may be a good thing after a long day of hiking.

The sole seems pretty grippy for wet conditions, the selling point for me was that they were 3 season boots.

They’re pretty stiff right now but I would expect them to wear in after a bit.

I guess the issue is that I hopped on the sub last night and people were trashing Vivo for not last very long in the “regrets” thread. I mean… I did get them for half off, so maybe if it’s true I can still get some moneys worth out of them?

I’ve tried the Magna Forest before but they were very painful to me due to the upper restraining my high arches.

Any experience with this shoe or suggestions for alternatives is welcome. TIA

Forgive me for calling him Wally in my last post, things have been hectic and I’m tired. 😅 Anyway, these came off a Ken doll, which were far too big for him (whomever had Ken last had used scotch tape to hold the shorts up, lol).

He’s ready to play some hoops now! Oh wait, he doesn’t have proper shoes … maybe I’ll find some on a future trip?

Looking for a Primary Care doctor, preferably with Internal Medicine specialty. Willing to drive anywhere for a doc that has time, availability, and knowledge.

If anyone has experience with concierge healthcare, I would greatly appreciate your experience with it.

Does anyone just go to Urgent Care for everything??

And I do have employer provided health insurance.

I circled the ones in red that I am questioning and numbered them in purple. We think 3 is Vincent Price. And I know one of the guys in 5 is Stephen King, but not sure about the other guy or the reference? Sorry for the low quality pic, might be able to Google the entire puzzle pic.

Edit: Posting matches in the comments

Edit 2: all have been solved! Y’all are awesome!

My baby toe is coming out from hiding!

I will say that even 6 months in I still have to be mindful of working on my gait and foot strength and flexibility daily. So for anyone else just starting, keep going :)
