What do we think of Degenerocities takes of Thomas especially the CGI Era
When I first watched this it felt like pure ragebait cuz I grew up with the CGI Era. I’m an ‘08 baby so you can already tell I grew up with the Miller nitrogen era and yes that was total dogshit but the Brenner era man cmon least give that a chance
And in Tug’s Season 13 Retrospective, he went into detail with how much CGI Revolutionized the storytelling of the show and allowed us to do shots that almost felt impossible
Undercarriage shots were never a reality in the first 12 seasons until CGI revolutionized that
And the small little details you can add in the background like birds flying past and actual sparks flying up when an engine’s or rolling stocks brakes were on
And especially in Hero of the Rails with Hiro’s Chase scene where all of his parts flew and got ripped from him. Something that probably would’ve never been able to be possible with models especially cuz of the fact Hero of the Rails was gonna be in the Season 12 Hybrid style
Multiple trackmaster remakes show how hard this would’ve been to be able to actually pull off and the bridge collapsing under Spencer. That would’ve been possible but not as tasteful CGI did it
Not to mention by 2009 a whole lot of other HiT and British kids shows like Bob The Builder and Fireman Sam were already making the big switch from Stop-Motion to CGI. And no I’m not talking bout the 2015 reboot I’m talking about Bob The Builder: Ready, Steady, Build! (The more underrated of the big four)
